The Royals Rock for Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace...but the Queen Steals the Show with Paddington

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined a host of royals, dignitaries and members of the public from across the UK and the Commonwealth to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee with a star-studded Party at the Palace tonight.

Crowds gathered for hours.

It's been a busy day for George and Charlotte who joined their parents in Cardiff earlier today to view a rehearsal and meet performers for a concert in Wales. Tonight was a more relaxed affair with the little ones surrounded by familiar faces and relatives.

The Duchess and her family waved Union Jacks and appeared to be having a great time, as famous faces such as Queen, Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys, Diana Ross and Andrea Bocelli performed to an energized audience.

To get things rolling, the Queen made an appearance alongside beloved character Paddington. Of course, you all remember the amazing segment the Queen filmed with Daniel Craig for London 2012 during her Diamond Jubilee year. I didn't think it could be surpassed, yet there was something incredibly moving about the simplicity of this and Paddington thanking the Queen. She may not have been there in person, but her presence was felt throughout. The star of the show as always.

"Did you know about Paddington?"

It appeared to come as quite the welcome surprise to see HM with the lovable bear.

Adam Lambert and Queen got the crowd moving to 'We Will Rock You'.

It very much looks like congratulations are in order for Pippa and James Matthews. I heard a rumour some weeks ago they are expecting their third child. Pippa looked radiant in the green silk shirred dress by ME +EM (with thanks to Middleton Maven).

The legend Diana Ross Diana Ross brought the show to a finish.

The Prince of Wales, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall, drew applause from the audience as he began his speech: "Your Majesty...Mummy!" Before continuing: "The scale of this evening's celebration and the outpouring of warmth and affection over this whole Jubilee weekend is our way of saying 'thank you'. Thank you from your family, the country, the Commonwealth -- in fact, the whole world. On behalf of us all, I wanted to pay my own tribute to your lifetime of selfless service."

"We think of all you have done to make the Commonwealth such an important force for good."

Prince William paid tribute to Her Majesty in a speech focused on the environmental and conservation work happening in the UK and throughout the Commonwealth over the past seventy years. The Prince said: "Today, in 2022, as the Queen celebrates her Platinum Jubilee, the pressing need to protect and restore our planet has never been more urgent. But, like her, I am an optimist. Decades of making the case for taking better care of our world has meant that environmental issues are now at the top of the global agenda." He continued: "When human kind focuses its minds, anything is possible. It's my firm hope that my grandmother's words are as true in seventy years time, as they are tonight: that as nations, we come together in common cause because then, there is always room for hope."

See the video below for the full speech:

The drone and light show was spectacular.

Kate repeated the effortlessly stylish Self-Portrait cream boucle dress she debuted for a Hold Still reception last September.

The piece features a blazer-style fitted bodice and a pleated midi skirt.

A closer look at the fabric.

Kate accessorised with her Robinson Pelham earrings. The £4,000 pair are set with white diamonds in 18ct gold. Kate has had them for at least four years.

As Paddington said, "Happy Jubilee, Ma'am, and thank you."

Tomorrow, the Jubilee weekend will culminate with Big Luncheons all over the country and the fabulous Platinum Jubilee Pageant kicking off at 2.30 pm. I expect to have live streams for you before it begins. I've been told it's going to be an event you absolutely want to experience on video :)

    1. I was thinking the same thing! Those kids must have been tired after the big morning. I'm sure naps were in order at the Cambridge house this afternoon. What a fun day for them and so mature and well-behaved. I do hope we get to see their youngest and a few more cute expressions tomorrow though 😀

  6. The Duchess looks beautiful tonight, as expected. I love those earrings. The kids will sleep well tonight. They did a fantastic job over a very long day. I hope the Queen had one or two drinks and watched the concert at home with Angela. I understand she is living with the Queen now in her personal area of Windsor Castle. Fingers crossed she feels well enough for the balcony tomorrow. I'd expect she will want to say thank you to her beloved people. May God bless her. S. ☺

  7. What an incredible concert!!! Great acts, lighting, and William’s speech. Loved seeing so many family members of the Windsor’s and Middleton’s. The Cambridges looked great and I loved Charlotte’s cape. Catherine looked lovely and nice to see a rewear again. :)

I’m sure all 4 are tired! And you as well, Charlotte. Sue

  9. I always enjoy your posts Charlotte, but this is outstanding. Everyone looks to be having the best time but for me, it was The Queen leading to Queen that did it for me. Thank you for all your work. Bronwyn.

  11. This was a fab concert. I was worried I couldn't find it as no canadian channels were airing it but luckily ABC in the US aired it. It was so beautiful my fave moment was when Andrea Bocelli sang. It is too bad Meghan and Harry weren't there. Zara looked beautiful so did Kate. Kate and Wills 2 kids are adorable. Thanks Charlotte for great coverage. The part with the Queen and Paddington was too cute!

What a beautiful spectacular way to celebrate and honour a great woman who has lived an honorable and dedicated and wonderful life. This Jubiless I understood and appreciated the majesty of British culture with deep admiration. Well done your Majesty! May God bless the remaining days of your reign with peace, joy and love.
