Prince George Jumps For Joy During First Aston Villa Match

It was a family day out as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took George and Charlotte to watch William's favourite football team Aston Villa play Norwich today.

Dressed in the teams claret and blue jersey, George appeared to have a particularly good time. William is an avid Aston Villa supporter and has attended a number of matches over the years. It very much appears George is following in his footsteps and is already an eager supporter. Recently Lioness Casey Stoney said William told her George has started to play football and he was teaching him it's a contact sport. He told her "George doesn't really like it when he's palming off and getting physical".

More from Hello! Magazine:

'As President of the Football Association, William is unsurprisingly a huge football fan, even tweeting his approval of Liverpool's victory over Barcelona in the Champion's League semi-final this spring via the official Kensington Palace Twitter account, signing his tweet "W".
William has previously explained why he supports Aston Villa, despite not being from the Midlands, telling Gary Lineker in 2015 that the decision dates back to his childhood. The Prince revealed: "A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run of the mill teams. I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments."

They were joined by friends including Princess Charlotte's godmother Sophie Snuggs. George and Charlotte were pageboy and bridesmaid at her wedding last year.

Charlotte wore a red cardigan and one her signature hair bows.

George's reaction when Villa won 5-1 is absolutely priceless.

Take a look at this video....

George memorably scored Kate 20 out of 10 for her Back To Nature garden. I think he's telling mum his rating of his first Villa match is right up there too :)

The Duchess wore her Barbour Longshore Quilted Jacket. The £159 piece in navy/marigold is described as "The ultimate utility jacket, this piece from Barbour is designed with a funnel collar to keep out the chill, exposed zip front fastening and doubled up pockets on either breast panel. She last wore it publicly during a visit to Fermanagh in February.

Earlier on, we discussed George and Charlotte's bridal party roles. They are set to resume them again for their uncle next year. Last night, news broke reporting James Middleton is engaged to French financial expert. Alizee Thevenet. The engagement took place last month, I imagine there's a good chance the wedding may actually take place in France. Congratulations to James and Alizee!

James Middleton confirmed the news during a chat with The Telegraph:

'James Middleton has revealed he proposed to his girlfriend in the Lake District last month and is still "pinching himself" over how lucky he is.
Speaking exclusively to Telegraph Magazine, Middleton said they were "a pretty relaxed couple", but revealed he had battled through mental health difficulties to find happiness.

  1. During George’s first few years the Cambridges have come under a lot of criticism for “hiding” their kids away from the public and being too strict on the kids privacy.
But I have always been very impressed with the way they are slowly introducing the kids to the public eye at a pace that they are all comfortable with.
And while a father-and-son outing would also have been cool, I love the fact that they made it a family outing, afterall football is not just for boys.

  2. I agree, RachelZA. I think William and Kate have found a good balance of public vs. private life for their children. I love these informal family outings as opposed to the more dressed up occasions. The family looks relaxed and happy.

  3. RachelZA, I so agree with you! After all. hte kids didn't sign up for the job! And when the Queen let the public see her children, there would be a photo in the paper or a magazine. By the time it appeared, it was the next day or week. Now the world of 7.5 billion has instant access. I think they have struck just the right balance so that photographers aren't stalking them; we all know what the children look like, so it's not a hunt like it was for William and Harry.

  5. Forgot to add that I love that James is happy. I love his lifestyle and am sure his happiness is one of the many reasons that Kate is so happy. He did not owe the world an explanation, but I'm sure it has helped at least a few people, not the least are those of us who prefer dog (or cat) company to human company.

  7. Finally, the future feels more secure.
Gotta give the credit to W&K for the positive PR and proving the ‘keep calm and carry on’ philosophy is still the best way forward.

    Looking forward!

  9. This was such fun to watch on American television. George was having a wonderful time with his father and mother. Hard to see Charlotte in the brief glimpses of the family but I hope she grows up to enjoy ‘ the beautiful game’ too The Lionesses are a fine side, England can be proud.

  15. George is extremely cute, I LOVE his joy and expressions.
Charlotte, can you tell me why James' coat of arms contain the armour, the wolf, the supporting feathers and the spear? Those are completely new to me.

Adorable pictures to see today. Fans have to learn how to cheer for a team early on in life. I agree that the Cambridge’s have found a balance for exposing the children to the press. Very happy for James Middleton and his fiancรฉe.

I have been thinking this for a while and it becomes more and more apparent to me: Prince George has a strong resemblance with his great uncle Charles Spencer, Diana‘s brother. Not so much Charles as a child, but as a young man in the 80s and 90s. Anyone else shares that impression or am I interpreting something into it that‘s not there? Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying he is all Charles Spencer... no, but there is definitely something in my opinion.
