Kate's First Solo Overseas Visit & Our Stylists' Canada Tour Looks (Part 3)

We're back with Part 3 of our stylists' looks for Canada, but first, as you may have heard, Kensington Palace announced the Duchess of Cambridge will undertake her first solo overseas trip on Tuesday, 11 October when she visits the Netherlands. The day will mark a royal milestone for Kate who will be travelling abroad officially without William for the first time. The Duchess was scheduled to visit Malta in 2014, however, she had to cancel as she was suffering from acute morning sickness when she was expecting Princess Charlotte. The Palace said: "The Duchess is very much looking forward to her visit."

What's on the itinerary for the day? There's a nice mix of engagements focused on areas Kate's passionate about including art. Upon arrival, the Duchess will pay a courtesy call on His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands at Villa Eikenhorst. The Telegraph noted: "The family home is on the forested De Horsten estate in Wassenaar near The Hague, and despite being a private residence the Dutch monarch sometimes hosts foreign guests." Unfortunately, Queen Máxima will be out of the country on the day; below we see Kate and Máxima in London for Remembrance Sunday last year.

The Duchess will then visit the Mauritshuis in The Hague for the exhibition 'At Home in Holland: Vermeer and his Contemporaries from the British Royal Collection'. The 22 works selected for this exhibition are some of the finest 17th century genre paintings by Dutch artists in the Royal Collection. Kate will tour the gallery's permanent collection before visiting the exhibition, meeting children taking part in the gallery's learning programme, and attending a short reception with museum supporters. Below, Johannes Vermeer's 'Lady at the Virginals with a Gentleman' ('The Music Lesson'), c.1660-1662.

Next, Kate will visit the British Ambassador’s Residence in The Hague, where she has convened a roundtable discussion on the themes of addiction, intervention, family and mental health. More from the Telegraph's article:

'Sitting at the table will be professionals from the Netherlands' Trimbos Institute, a non-profit research centre working on the issues of mental health and addiction.
They will be joined by counterparts from two of the Duchess' UK charities - the Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families, a leading charity in the research, teaching and the provision of care for children and young people with mental health issues, and Action on Addiction.'

Finally, the Duchess will travel to the neighbouring city of Rotterdam to see Bouwkeet, the social Makerspace of Bospolder-Tussendijken. This is a new community-focused initiative in the centre of an economically deprived district which provides a creative design and technology workspace.

It should be a very interesting day and it's great to see Kate marking the milestone.

************

It's time to take a look at your final batch of submissions styling looks for Kate to wear during the Canada tour. Once again, as you'll see, there's a fantastic amount of variety, creativity and individuality expressed. It was lovely to see so many participating and to see readers and their children having fun with the activity together (as you'll see there are several very young and talented budding stylists who shared their looks too). A huge thank you to everyone who shared looks, took the time comment and supported other readers. It's been such fun and I look forward to doing it again in the future! A reminder you can view Part One here and Part Two here.

Sonne - A daytime look for a visit to a Canadian charitable organisation features the Catherine Deane Short-Sleeve Floral Embroidered Mini Dress, team with a brown coat worn open, dark brown ankle boots and Annoushka Frost Stud Earrings. For the evening an emerald green Sherri Hill gown with the glittering Jimmy Choo Glam Glitter light bronze sandals, a clutch from Jenny Packham's diffusion line for Debenhams and Kate's emerald and diamond jewels.

Anonymous in Colorado - For an arrival outfit, lunch with the PM or a charitable visit we have Kate's GOAT Binky Blouse with the Queen's Male Leaf Brooch. The look is teamed with a red midi lace skirt by Kate Spade New York and Kate's popular red suede Gianvito Rossi pumps. For a gala look Anon would love to see Kate in a Gatsby-inspired look: a sweeping gown from Elie Sabb's Spring 2015 Collection styled with Gianvito Rossi Embellished Satin Sandals, Kate's Beaut Eva earrings and the crystal embellished Dolce & Gabbana Ava Clutch.

Sara - An arrival outfit consisting of the L.K. Bennett Joella Black Tailored Dress, the L.K. Bennett Fern Salsa Suede Courts and handmade earrings. For a black-tie dinner, it's the Alexander McQueen Draped Bustier Dress the Ralph Lauren Patent Leather Celia pumps and a statement handmade necklace.

Erika - For a day look it's a red dress from DVF's 2012 Fall/Winter Collection (the necklace is not part of the dress). The dress is teamed with a black jeweled beret by milliner Philip Treacy, Jimmy Choo Faith Suede Boots, the Queen's Maple Leaf Brooch, Kate's Cartier Ballon Bleu watch. "I would style her hair in a low very stylized ponytail with a translucent red lip and red nails. No purse as she will be carrying her very best accessory, Princess Charlotte." For the evening look  - a black sleeveless Erdem Resort 2014 look with floral overlay styled with Jimmy Choo Lucy pumps, a black patent Jimmy Choo patent leather clutch, Kate's Kiki Lavender drop earrings and art deco bracelet. Kate's hair would be styled half up-half down.

Catherine (Erika's daughter, 12 years old) - Another of our very young stylists is 12-year-old Catherine who put together two chic looks for the Duchess. For the daytime we have the Valentino Spring 2013 Couture red cape dress, The dress is teamed with the Jimmy Choo Lucy 100 Pumps with a diamond maple leaf pin in her hair and Kate's sparkly art deco earrings. On the evening look: "I didn't find a gown as beautiful as the Christian Dior I picked last year but I wanted to choose something new and I thought this red Valentino is pretty special. I love the super full skirt. It reminds me of a tutu." The gown is teamed with the Jimmy Choo Hesper Mirror Leather Sandals, Kate's MOUAWAD bracelet teamed with ruby and diamond earrings by the jeweller. "I would pull her hair back into a sleek simple off center chignon so that everybody can see her earrings. I would not give her a purse because they are annoying and she needs to be able to hold her flower bouquet."

Courtney from NC - For the arrival, it's the L.K. Bennett Edelle Pink Tweed Dress with the matching tweed jacket. Kate's hair would be styled in an updo with the Jane Taylor Bridget Hat. Jewellery includes the Queen's Maple Leaf Brooch, Queen Mary's Cluster Earrings, Queen Mary's Indian Bangle Necklaces and one of the Queen's Collette Necklaces. White gloves and Gianvito Rossi suede pumps complete the ensemble. After arrival, Courtney suggests Kate would change into MaxMara Jersey Trousers, L.K. Bennett Fauna Black Snake Effect Courts, the L.K. Bennett Norway sleeveless top to be worn underneath the tweed jacket and a demi-chignon.

We have the green Roland Mouret Goodard Gown. "I love the pair she wears often that are loaned to her by the queen but I want to see something new to her. The Greville Chandelier Earrings would look amazing on her. Pair those earrings with one of the queen's Colette necklaces and with the two diamond bangles she would have a good start. If it were me I would put one of Queen Mary's chain link bracelets in between the two bangles. The shoes are a little sassy and people would be able to see them due to the slit in the dress. Add a pair of white elbow or opera length gloves for more glamour and I think the simplicity of the dress would let Catherine and the jewels shine."

Emma (Courtney from NC's 9-year-old daughter) -  The immensely talented nine-year-old Emma put together two looks for the Duchess to wear. For evening: "The dress I chose is by a designer named Elie Saab. My mom has shown me many dresses worn by Kate and other princesses and I usually like all the Elie Saab gowns they wear. The dress looks like it is fitted to her legs then it just falls without poofing out. There is also a cape thing at the top of the gown. The color is tan and pinkish color. I think there is a lot of things going on with the dress so I am not using gloves with it." The gown is styled with Rene Caovilla Geometric Strass Leather Sandals and jewels from the royal vault including the Duchess of Gloucester's Pendant Earrings, the four row Japanese Pearl Choker, Queen Mary's Pearl Bracelet and the Pearl Trefoil Brooch. The day look offers the blue and white stripe L.K. Bennett Harpa Skirt teamed with the brand's Indi Cream Top and Coco White Sandals. Kate's hair would be styled in a high ponytail with Kiki Blue Topaz Earrings and the Luna Pendant, three Lavendar Amethyst Bangles and a Blue Topaz Ring.

Nick (Courtney from NC's son) - With Courtney and Emma diving into sartorial splendour, Courtney's son Nick decided to join in the fun and give the ladies a run for their money with his stylish eye. Both Nick and his dad were incredibly impressed with Queen Letizia's black trouser suit and thought it would look amazing on Kate with a Rebecca Taylor blouse, killer pumps, the Queen's Chandelier earrings, an updo and a cranberry lip. For a black-tie event, it's a crimson red bespoke version of the Jenny Packham gown shown below with a dark red suede pair of shoes, the Greville Chandelier Earrings and the South African bracelet. A chic updo completes the look!

Tai - With a focus on British-Canadian designers for the daywear look it's a top by Steventai. Kate would also wear her pants from the hike to Tiger's Nest and sneakers by Patrick Cox. For the evening look is a blue gown by Jean-Pierre Braganza: "To be worn with the sparkly, strappy heels by Jimmy Choo and the Jenny Packham box clutch, along with the Queen's chandelier earrings and Queen Mary's bracelet."

Julia - The day look includes the L.K. Bennett Echo Orange Tweed Dress, a pair of earrings by Dean Davidson (favoured by Canada's Sophie Gregoire Trudeau), the Zvella Ava Shoes in cameo rose and Kate's garnet and pearl ring. For the evening look, we have the Zac Posen Strapless Angled Satin Trumpet Gown in burgundy. The gown is styled with the Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Pumps an art deco ruby ring, Kate's art deco bracelet and the Jimmy Choo Sweetie Glittery Clutch.

Hope from U.S. - A turtleneck sweater from Eddie Bauer with straight leg jeans and FRYE Hannah boots for a casual look. The evening look features the Aidan Mattox Sleeveless Silk-Trim Crepe Gown with Kate's Schutz Dollie Sandals in black, with Kate's art deco bracelet, the Queen's Chandelier Earrings and a black clutch.

Nicole - The statement red MaxMara Camelhair Coat is teamed with the Valentino Pussy-Bow Silk-Georgette Midi Dress and the Reiss Broadway Suede Belt. The look is completed with Kate's Links of London Hope Egg Earrings, Aspinal of London Lottie Bag and Kate's black suede Gianvito Rossi pumps. For a black-tie event Nicole would like to see Kate's black velvet strapless McQueen gown accessorised with the same jewellery. To freshen up the look, Kate would carry her black bow clutch, wear her black suede Gianvito Rossi pumps and an updo.

Lady Germany - A meeting with the PM or a daytime engagement includes the Suzannah 1950s Influenced Twill Skirt in Cosmetic PinkSequin Daisy Bodice Top and Audrey Tailored Jacket. The look is completed with a purple clutch, light grey shoes from Cici Hot and Kate would wear her hair in a high ponytail. A look for an evening gala where Kate will meet a lot of famous Canadian personalities: a chiffon dress with cascading lace sleeve by Jenny Packham's 'The Wonder Collection'. The dress is styled with the Rocio Clementine Clutch, Badgley Mischka Aria Pumps, a Tiffany bracelet and Ipploita Silver Rock Candy Pearl Drop Earrings in turquoise.

Franziska K. from Germany - The Pink Tartan Printed Air Knit Tabitha Dress, Kate's black suede Gianvito Rossi pumps, Kate's black peplum Ralph Lauren blazer, Charlotte Hosten Daphne Earrings (handmade in Montreal), Kate's cipher bracelet - a gift from the Duchess of Cornwall and the Mulberry' Bayswater' black suede clutch. A gala look with the JS Collections Lace & Pleat Panel Crepe Gown with the L.K. Bennett Fay Marshmallow Clutch and Ellora Black Suede Courts. Sonshine - "So I found a lovely coat by Canadian brand Sentaler which would be perfect for a day outside (maybe with Mr & Mrs Trudeau?) in autumnal Canada. This look is rather casual so Kate could wear it to both engagements in a city but also for a walk in the forest, etc. where they take the children with them. And I am sure either George or Charlotte (whomever she carries on her arm) would love to play around with the pretty scarf ;)" Below, the Sentaler Wrap Coat with Ribbed Sleeves, a royal blush print scarf, Topshop jeans and Unisa boots. For the gala loo, it's the Jenny Packham Sleeveless Sequined Burnout Dress styled with the Kohls Lenore Clutch, Kate's Malory Pumps and diamonds by the yard earrings. Sun chose the DVF Incognito Wool-Blend Coat with a black turtleneck dress by Canadian brand Dsquared2, Kate's Aquatalia Rhumba Boots. Jewels from Kiki include the Aurora Lemon Quartz and Diamond Drop Earrings and the Aurora Diamond Pendant.

Bennett Harper Suede pumps, Polar Bear Brooch and Kiki Grace earrings. Rachel Jacobs - The L.K. Bennett Polena Black Printed Dress, Jimmy Choo Black Suede Lucy 100 Pumps, the L.K. Bennett Faith Black Patent Clutch and Kate's Annoushka pearls for daywear. Sharon's evening look choices are a gown from Jenny Packham's 2016 Collection, Kate's Kiki gold and diamond green amethyst earrings, the Queen's Wedding Gift Bracelet and black suede L.K. Bennett Harley shoes.

Anonymous - "My day look for engagements in the big city of Vancouver. W & K could visit a hospital there, open a new building for a hospice (I hope Kate will work more with hospices again, also on the tour) or attend a conference about mental health just like Kate did it last fall. She loves L.K. Bennett and I love this brand, too." We have the L.K. Bennett Charl Cream Tailored Jacket, Theory 'Navalane Becker Skinny Pants, L.K. Bennett Sasha Rosehip Patent Courts and Kiki Luna Moonstone Flower earrings.

The Escada yellow coat, with the Queen's Enamel Maple Leaves Brooch (worn by Queen Elizabeth II in Canada during a 2010 visit). Kate's Kiki Eternal Citrine and Diamond Drop Earrings and Kate's L.K. Bennett taupe pump. No clutch leaving the plane with the children."

Christen - For an afternoon event or early reception Christen selected the Erdem Rhona Silver Dress, Kate's Rupert Sanderson Malory Pumps, and Kate's grey suede McQueen bag. "For jewellery, she would wear her Annoushka pearl earrings and a brooch from the Queen's collection that was given to the Queen in 2013 during an audience with the Governor of the Saskatchewan province. It's called the Saskatchewan Tourmaline Flower Brooch. I'm eager to see it worn, but so far I have to say it might be my favorite of the modern designs presented to the Queen in recent years - fresh, but not a radical departure from the traditional styles so often worn by the Queen, and done in a particularly lovely color."

As always, if there are any errors or if for any reason your look has not been included, please let me know and it will be remedied immediately.

  1. So exciting to see Kate taking new steps in her role! :) Seems like an interesting day mixing her interests/causes with some country buissness. It makes sense for her to view the art since it's on loan from the british. Cannot wait for her trip to the Netherlands, but right now my sights are firmly on Canada! So hyped for the tour!

Yet another batch of wonderful looks! I'm again taken aback by the detail and thought that goes in to these looks, and how they mostly seem so fitted to Kate. And I love how the families have joined in to our little past-time :D

It's going to be so weird waking up on Saturday and having to wait for William and Kate's tour to start. As someone on the east coast with Britain five hours ahead and India and Australia even further ahead in used to waking up and the tour day being half over!
I was just thinking to travel to and from Denmark in one day seems a lot. It will be an early morning for Kate I assume!
I'm dying to see what she is going to wear and I think it would be amazing if she ended up wearing anything anyone picked! I can't wait to see Charlotte and I wonder if she will give us as many wonderful facial expressions as George did in Australia!

    1. Denmark? I think you mean the Netherlands? :P And either way, it's just a short pop over the ocean.

      Yes I meant Netherlands! Oops!

    3. There is no ocean between the UK and NL...I assume you mean the North Sea

    4. Isn't ocean the same as sea? Like.. water that is not a lake?

      Delete
    5. I had to look on a map. Overseas counts because the UK and the Netherlands are separated by the North Sea, right? So they have to go over the sea to get there. I am so glad I am not the captain of a ship. lol

cute, Rebecca. I thought the that sea and ocean were the same also, btw. Now I have to look it up.

  4. Thanks for the new post Charlotte! I've been waiting for it ever since KP announced Kate's away day! I had a feeling she would be going alona mini tour somewhere by her self. And I can't wait for it :) Her and Will have been doing a lot of joint engagements lately, I miss her on her own.So it will be extra special! I've been thinking, it won't be long before they announce their Spring 2017 tour, I wonder where they will go that time?!?
I can not wait for the Canadian tour, but Saturday is a busy day for me, starting with my daughters soccer game and then my son's football game. It will be busy but the hardest part is I won't have WIFi, so I can't keep up on their 1st day on tour as much as I would like I guess I'll just use up all of my mobile data, if this isn't a 1st world problem then I don't know what is!
On another different subject, I've been obsessing with Great British Bake Off. I don't know who I want to win...any one else having that problem??
    See you all on Saturday!

  5. I am so impressed with all of the style choices that everyone has created! They're all so beautiful and very thoughtful of Kate's style. What is striking to me, there are several Roland Mouret gowns out there in a variety of colors. Kate looks so good in his sleek and structured silhouettes versus her early, floaty Jenny Packham gowns. Not that there's anything wrong with them! I also hope to see more Erdem from Kate in the future. And I want a maple leaf cape too! And the red Haida jacket would be so thoughtful and appropriate for this tour!!! Kudos to all! Thanks Charlotte for putting these together for us- so much eye candy! Now I can't wait for Canada and the Netherlands visit (need a Dutch designer now! call Maxima!)

  8. So many beautiful outfits - I wouldn't know where to start. Stunning, absolutely stunning.
All outfits are so well composed, exquisite and sophisticated. I am having a ball looking though them.
    Chapeau dear fellow stylists!!

  9. I really like the Rouland Mouret Green gown, the Alexander Mcqueen red strapless bustier dress and the Erdem Samira gown. I think the duchess should choose more strapless gown for glitzy and glamourous events. My guess is that she may choose an Erdem dress or two and Roksanda dress also.

  10. I had to chuckle when I read the expression "overseas tour" for her visit to The Netherlands. Is this the new "post Brexit vote" wording? ;-)))) Is European mainland now "overseas"? ;-))) I understand, what you mean, of course, Dear Charlotte, it´s the first solo tour outside of Britain, but when I hear "overseas" I think of another continent... ;-)))

I absolutely enjoyed the fashion choices shown here, most of them instantly made me want to buy them ALL, like NOW.... ;-))) Thanks for all your efforts, dear fellow-bloggers, it´s such fun to imagine how the Duchess would look like in those clothes! It makes me even more looking forward to the upcoming tour! Only HOURS to go now!!

Thank you, Charlotte, for giving us this opportunity, it´s always such fun + interesting to see our "stylists" at work!!

    1. Overseas is a perfectly normal and common way to refer to a country outside of the UK. Why would it have to be another continent?

      Delete
    2. overseas means over seas, right. If you don't have to go over seas to get to another continent then it wouldn't be overseas. (Who's on 1st.? lol)

      Delete
    3. Kate literally has to travel over a sea to get to the Netherlands. I think "overseas" is an appropriate term.

      Delete
    4. Ok, ok , I get it. It´s just such a wonderful example of how different perception is, dependent on where you grew up/live. I think in Germany absolutely no-one would say they are travelling "overseas" when going to Britain. We use the term when going to e.g. the US/Canada. The Channel (although being part of the North Sea - there you have your "sea"!! ;-)) ) obviously doesn´t count as a "sea" for us Germans! Look, it´s no big deal for me, I love those wordings that show different perspectives, I really do...

      Delete
    5. Yes, it's appropriate as she has to travel over a sea to get there but it's a very small sea, that's why it sounds a bit unusual. I guess it's that us mainland Europeans wouldn't say we were going overseas when we're going to Britain, that's why it sounds strange to us.

    6. That makes sense. Thanks, 12:42

Another collection of magnificent outfits - this is a Lady in Red collection and love the multiple appearances of the polar bear brooch.

Sonne- Another who would love to see Kate in green - that gown is lovely. And the day look with coat would be perfect - a bit longer. Catherine Deane is a designer I've wanted to see Kate use.
Anon from Colorado - Gorgeous gold look with accessories by designers Kate has favoured - love the idea of red lace for Kate with that Goat top.
Sara - the red and the black - very sophisticated. Although it's not common for royals - I would love to see Kate in LBD by day - remember how great Jackie Kennedy looked next to Princess Grace - latter in shower cap hat - in just an LBD with great bracelets - that red gown is a stunner.
Erika - that day dress is in Kate's favourite red and has so much flair - the beret would be a great look - sleeker than those fussy little hats - and love that Erdam choice - picks up a pattern without being heavy. Perfect Canadian look.
Catherine - wow again - such great red looks - that caped day dress would be amazing - and the shoes with a strap is what I'm hoping Kate might pick up -keeping her courts with a little extra detail - and the flair of that gown is impressive.
Courtney - that is a super little suit for Kate- a look I've been hoping for her - very Jackie with the pillbox and love the diamonds - the trousers would be a great look for casual. Again love seeing green - a grand gown, and love the idea of long gloves.
Emma - That Saab gown would be perfect for Kate - with the cape design - that dress would sparkle so much with the diamonds - and I would love to see the pearl choker come out - great day look too.
Nick - a young man with taste like mine - that Packham is one I've always loved for Kate and it would be stunning in red and yes to a tuxedo suit - that's a great choice of one - I agree that Letizia shape for the Tux would be right for Kate.
Tai - great use of Canadian designers - that casual look would prove a good one for the tour and the gown is in Kate's favourite colour and great style.

Julia - that tweed would be great on Kate - the gown would be incredible and love your choice of rings - using one of Kate's we haven't seen in a while - her birthstone. And keeping her favourite neutral shoes but with a little something extra.
Hope - that casual look is turning out to be just right for the tour - and the same is true for that gown - it has about the correct level of formality for the announced engagement and shows a bit of leg - like Kate's recent dress.
Nicole - that day outfit looks just right for B.C. and that coat would a great addition - a colour Kate likes but doesn't have and so luxurious. Would love to see her black gown return.
Lady Germany - love the white accented with colour - a change from all those neutral accessories. An elegant look for day and love the simple lines of that evening Packham - again it would be good for the announced engagement.
Franziska - Another great use of Pink Tartan - a company I think would be a discovery for Kate - not just for the tour - nicely paired with Kate's jacket - a look I've been hoping for. likewise, since she is using U.S. designers -Marchesa has such lovely gowns - like how you styled the day bag for evening.
Amelia - that black gown is definitely a winner and popular here - it would be a great choice.
Those earrings would pick up the rosettes on the gown.
Alison - an extremely Kate look - I like that pairing of jacket and skirt - using Erdam and the use of jewellery that Kate has - love that red gown for evening and for a change would like to see the maple leaf used with a long gown. Great use of designers.
Shannon - again you've really picked a look that picks up on Kate's style -that bird dress would be so right - and Akris an interesting choice - I like you picked her favourite wedges - they would work with that print dress - and another great red gown using the maple leaf and Kate's own earrings.
S from E - I've been hoping for more Catherine Walker - her clothes have such a finish - and that is a super dress - it reminds me of a look by the late L'wren Scott whose clothes I loved and perfect for that bear brooch I so want to see - couldn't be more perfect. The evening look is lovely too.
Jackie - that is the perfect Canadian look!! I really hope we might see that cape - how right that would be and great for the tour itinerary. Roots would be another great choice.
P.S. What a beautiful silk dress - add a white coat and it would be an amazing look with that hat - and beautiful earrings.
Anon 183 That St. John suit would be just right for Kate and with that hat - wow. I've been wanting more suits and that is a great not too business-like look. Since Kate has been using U.S. designers I really hope she discovers Lhuillier - and that mauve gown would be a great place to start - it would dazzle Canada just as her Macqueen did in Los Angeles. And the Nizam necklace would be so much better with that gown than with the Packham - the neckline is right for it and the beading would balance the necklace details -what was missing before - and love that clutch.

    So many amazing looks:
Soshine - another look that would suit this tour's itinerary so well - another great Canadian brand - love that coat with jeans. And you're right about the scarf. A lovely evening look too.
Karen - a truly regal evening look - I wish we may see it! While still staying with Kate's preferred designers - that gown reminds me of her blush Packham.
Maria - that D. and C. dress is very much a Kate look and the metallic would certainly take the sledges to new heights and good with the dress.
Phyl - love that coat with the brooch - that would be a great arrival outfit - as long as the fur is fake - and a very cute look for Charlotte in Canadian red and white. I really love that evening Packham - Kate always looks great in black and that gown is so elegant, yet an easy look for her to wear.
Janet from Oregon - you've done great look with Kate designers - again the Catherine Walker has that polished look to it - and would be great with the maple leaf - and again I love that Packham gown - I believe Anett chose it too - a winner. I like the idea of Kate using jewellery belonging to the queen at one event - and her mum's earrings at the other.
Anon from New York - A true lady in red. That dress is fantastic and from a Kate designer. And following Berandi is a designer I've been thinking would be good for Kate - and sometimes that happens as we just saw!
Sun - love that coat - it would be perfect for Canada - and really dress up a casual look.
Julie - I like that soft dress with the coat - that's a look Kate has used that would be very nice - And I'm really hoping to see that brooch put in use. The casual clothes fit the itinerary very well.
Rachel - Great looks from designers we're likely to see - that Erdam is definitely a winner - I like that Bennett dress. It would be a great style on Kate - and again adding a strap on her courts would dress up her footwear without moving out of her comfort area.
Francis - Following William's recent speech, an eco dress would be perfect - and I like your take on the colours of Yukon and B.C. - and a great Erdam evening look that seems about right for the announced evening engagement - would there were more.
B - a very cute day look by a designer Kate has used and glad to see another push for the bear brooch - and love turning things upside down and doing red and white for evening..
Sharon - I love the idea of using the Haida jacket -a great idea over that dress of Kate's and so perfect for this tour. that Packham gown is beautiful in red as well -
Anonymous - for a tour that is having a couple of serious engagements and a lot of causal ones - that would be an extremely good look (I was hoping for a hospice visit as well.) If there must be tight trousers - black would be good.
Anonymous - a wonderful casual look - love the feather earrings, the hat, the use of Smythe and the Molepo clutch is a find! I really hope Kate uses some of the great Canadian designers. Suede skinnies would be a great look - this outfit would really fit with the itinerary.
Anonymous - how clever - picking up the B.C. flag - the sort of detail Kate often takes note of - that would be wonderful. The idea of picking it up with the collar of the dress is a fantastic detail.
Christen - that Erdam is beautiful and sounds just perfect for the announced engagement - I love that dress - and would love to see a loan of the tourmeline brooch - a favourite of mine and it would be beautiful with that dress.

Such wonderful designs and details everyone - an amazing effort. I'm excited to see what Kate does wear - her tours have brought out some beautiful looks in the past.

These are some of my favourite style picks:
Sonne (the emerald dress), Sara (both choices are lovely!), Erika, Nick (I really like Queen Letizia's suit! Should Kate wear a pant suit, she would rock it!), Nicole, Lady Germany, Franziska, Amelia, Alison, Anon 183, Maria P (love how you styled the D&G dress!), Phyl, Anon from New York (that Goat dress is beautiful and the bow neck tie is making a comeback this season!), Anon (the LK Bennett jacket would suit Kate) and Christen!

One little thing: somehow there is the matching clutch in the same lovely metallic rosy colour as the shoes missing in my outfit.

  28. Ladies and Gentlemen (of all ages!), I’m running out of superlatives – each and every one of the outfits you’ve designed is awesome and Catherine would look stunning wearing any one of your selections …

Sonne, Anon in Colorado, Catherine, Emma, Nick, Lady Germany, Franziska, S. from E., Anon 183, Karen M., Janet, and Sharon - The gown and the accessories you’ve chosen: Pure princess - splendid!

Sara, Erika, Courtney, Tai, Julia, Hope, Nicole, Amelia, Alison, Shannon, Sonshine, Phyl, Anon from New York, Rachel Jacobs, Francis, and B - What a gala outfit: Striking and elegant, and sooo Catherine!

Anon in Colorado, Catherine, Courtney, Nicole, S. from E., P.S., Janet, Anon from New York, and Christen - IMHO, you’ve put together the perfect ‘arrival/first day’ ensemble!

Sara, Erika, Julia, Lady Germany, Franziska, Alison, Anon 183, Julie from NC, Rachel Jacobs, and B - That daytime outfit/dress is absolutely beautiful and Catherine would look so lovely wearing it!

Sonne, Emma, Nick, Shannon, Maria, Phyl, Sun, Francis, Sharon, and Anon III (the 3rd) - That daytime look: Relaxed and chic and versatile, right up the Duchess’ alley!

Courtney, Tai, Hope, Jackie (that poncho –love it!), Sonshine, Julie, Anon I (the 1st), and Anon II (the 2nd) - The trip schedule has so many outdoorsy events for Catherine to showcase skinnies and the combination you’ve suggested looks right on point for one of those events!

… and Charlotte: Thank you again for putting so much time, effort and love into this project … which is why I hate to say this – you missed one entry :S – your own! And while you provided the pictures in the initial post I believe that they are worth repeating together with the other entries, not the least because they were so lovely, to gush over, and befitting the Duchess … :D

  29. Wow, what a huge and fabulous wardrobe of clothes these three posts represent! The Jenny Packham gown I chose was a different one than shown, but that hardly matters, as the one shown is pretty, too, and it doesn't look like there are any occasions on this trip for Catherine to wear a gown anyway, alas. Maybe she will choose from our great picks for some future formal events. I especially liked the entries here that cleverly incorporate the Canadian, and even specifically western Canadian, influence. Some really great ideas! That brooch given to the Queen from Saskatchewan is lovely! Looking forward to the posts from the tour. Thank you, Charlotte, for all your hard work, which we all get to enjoy so much!

  32. Anonymous with the LK Bennett jacket and Theory skinny pants--LOVE this outfit. Classy, but sti comfortable, super cute earrings, and the shoes add the perfect pop of color. Love love love. I would wear this myself and can definitely see the Duchess doing so. It reminds me of the outfit she wore to the basketball game in New York two years ago. J crew black skinnies and Tory Burch (??) silver grey coat.

It's a lot of fun looking through everyone's ideas! A lot of them are more fashion forward than the Duchess is likely to wear, but that's the point of this, right? To have fun with what we'd like her to wear and not stay within the confines of what is necessarily likely. Lots of fun!

Charlotte, two little things. It should say the necklace is not part of the DVF dress. It liooks like a collar but it is actually a separate necklace. Also, the evening shoes are wrong. 34. Erika, um hummm,

Remember how you were saying that Hello magazine included in an article about what Kate will take to Canada, one "our" cocktail dresses AND one of "our" coats?? (what are the odds for including both)

Me thinketh that someone from Hello magazine has been reading The Bentley of Blogs. Truly.
I will even go as far as to say that their concept for their article most likely came from that person having read our design threads.

And I don't think that is the first time a media reporter has borrowed our concepts and details. Remember when people were amazed that Pippa was engaged to someone she had only known for a "few months"?
Someone commented here at that time, thoroughly and in detail, how James Matthews had not been far from Pippa since his first date with her, even when she was dating others. Not long after that the Daily Mail did a much less detailed article about how James had wooed Pippa for 10 years, just briefly highlighting only a few on the points that had been made in the comment here. And there have been other times as some have noticed here before.

Not surprising really. I know that if I were a Royal reporter, this blog would been one of my first visits every morning, to obtain a perspective on diverse, credible public opinion and news nuggets also.

I don't think that out of all the fashion choices out there, that it was a mere coincidence that Hello magazine included "our" cocktail dress and coat in their article that happens to be very much like our "Dressing Kate" concept. (yay, Julia, :) )

    4. I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it's happened numerous times with various posts and credit is never given. I've always been a big fan of Hello!, but I'm disappointed to see this happening so regularly.

      Delete
    5. I have thought for quite sometime that the media use the expertise of the good blogs extensively and that credit is not given. Charlotte's post are so well researched and What Kate Wore very accurate with the technicalities of the fashion so I think their information is used all the time and I do wonder when people say that the blogs would not easily exist without the media, that perhaps closer to the truth is we need press release for events, photographers for events, then blogs to research and post, then media to hype, report or critise so that we believe we need the media to tell us what is happening and make sure we are on message.

      Delete
    6. What Hello article are you talking about? Does anyone have a link? I'd like to see it myself. If this is true, I am really disappointed by Hello.

For example, the Bering Sea is part of the Pacific Ocean.

  40. Wow. I think that Catherine, Emma and Nick all have terrific taste and I would love to see Kate in all of the outfits they selected. :) Great choices, ladies and gentleman. :)

Courtney NC, your outfits are chic and elegant. Lovely for Kate.

S from E, I love, love the CW Tiffany Dress. CW...surprise, surprise :-)

Anon 183, the gown is stunning and a beautiful color for Kate.

Maria P, I would wear the D&G dress tomorrow if it was hanging in my closet...and the accessories are perfect.

Phyl, I really like the cut of the gown. Simple and elegant.

Rachel Jacobs, I like the LK Bennet Polina dress, and your choice of accessories.

B, all of your choices are sooo Kate!

Anon I like the Sasha patent shoes with the black and white outfit. A bit of fun, and still very elegant.

I think it's wonderful that Kate will make a solo visit to the Netherlands, but I am sorry that Maxima will not be in the country. The Queen strikes me as a very good hearted and fun lady and it would be nice to see a friendship develop between the two of them.

  41. Again, what fascinating selections, and what a lot of great research! I think either the Erdem gown chosen by Erika or the Marchesa Notte suggested by Franziska K. would be lovely for the reception in Victoria. If the event were more formal, I would love the Jenny Packham gown chosen by Lady Germany. For daytime, I especially like the outfit Julie from NC designed around the Lauren dress and the polar bear brooch. And the Haida jacket! I hope Kate finds or is given one of those. I would love to own the LK Bennet Charl jacket. It would go with so many black dresses, skirts, and pants.

Phyl, I am so glad you joined me in designing for Princess Charlotte! Your choices for her are delightful. By the way, I recently saw the white sparkly cardigan I chose for Charlotte in a store, and it is even prettier than I expected.

Charlotte, the Anon who suggested a yellow dress with sun rays and citrine earrings described this enameled maple leaves brooch rather than the diamond one:

    http://queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-enamel-maple-leaves-brooch.html

Nice to see the various Canadian brooches used so often. I do hope Kate will wear them!

Thank you, Charlotte! This is truly a labor of love on your part, both for Kate and for all of us. And now, on to the tour!

I would love to see more of Kate's clothes in real life. I saw someone wearing the LK Bennett Lasa dress up close and it was gorgeous!!

  43. Absolutely fabulous selections, everyone, especially the evening gowns! If Kate would catalog every evening gown shown here, she would look smashing for years to come!
Also love all the pants outfits, but not holding my breath that Kate would actually go that route.
Last but not least, great job, Courtney's and Erikas kids!!

Rachel: Lovely LK Bennett look - the Dress is totally her style and the I somehow think she already owns this clutch considering her love for LK Bennett clutches. And I LOVE your Evening look! Erdem seems almost given for Canada and I love the pretty earrings and great Accessoires you Chose.

Francis: I would also like to see the quilted Jäger Kate clutch again.

B: You were so right about Lela Rose, she only recently wore it and your Dresses are even prettier than her pink/blush one! I love their style and would love to see the polar bear brooch.

Sharon Washington State: Will you go up to Vancouver or Victoria too see them? Also, a very Fitting red gown for a Canadian Gala.

Anonymous: I love your look, it is something that the average Person of us would also wear, but still very elegant. The LK Bennett jacket is so pretty and I love the way you combined it with the pink pumps. If only Kate would wear this look!

Anonymous: I really like the clutch and earrings you picked, so individual and perfect for the outdoorsy Engagements during this tour.

Anonymous: I love that you Chose a Dress and coat by Escada, it is a German brand. ´Would love to see the very pretty brooch on Kate!

Christen: I love your daytime look! I usually don't like many of Erdems designs lately, only the lace Dresses Kate wore early in her marriage, but now everything from them is too floral and too much. But this Dress is so feminine and pretty, it would be lovely on Kate, especially with the Accessoires and beautiful brooch you Chose.

Wish I could go up to be part of the crowd in Victoria. It is only 9 miles across the water from the San Juan Islands. But the ferry goes there from Friday Harbor only once a day in the fall, so an overnight stay is necessary. The glitch is I've kept putting off obtaining a passport. Used to be you didn't need one to cross the border. Victoria is a beautiful city. From the video looks like an incredible tour so far.

  49. Wow, this has been a busy travel year for TRH. A solo tour is exciting. Another way she is stepping into her role. I still hold to my thought that this is a transition for them to move into full time royals. The surprises keep on coming and I hope the rest of the year doesn't disappoint.

The looks from all of our stylists are amazing and I wish I had the budget to buy many of these looks.. I can't pick one as a favorite because they are all so beautiful.

Anxiously waiting for the live blog. They must already b e somewhere in the air. Not too much longer now!

  54. To all the stylists in this round, great outfits for the polar bear brooch. Both the daytime and gowns are lovely. I enjoy seeing the styling for each outfit. These fun exercises really given insight into how each of think and what we wear. This grouping most definitely features, “The Lady In Red”. I’m sure Kate is going to wear red and I just wonder when it will appear.

To be honest, I would wear probably about 80% of the looks here. Some of my favorites were:

Alison, your choice of the Abert Ferrati Jacket and Erdem Floral Skirt is very Kate – remember the wedding pre-marriage she wore something almost identical. I love how you styled her for both your outfits.

Lady Germany, what a fun outfit you chose! The Suzannah twill skirt, crop top and tailored jacket is adorable.

Nicole, I once had a camelhair coat that I loved! And this red MaxMara is a dream coat – I can only imagine the price tag. Beautifully styled with the Valentino Ivory dress and accessories.

Courtney from NC, I really love a dress with a matching jacket and the L.K> Bennett one you choose is lovely. Going multipurpose with the cigarette pants is fantastic!

P.S. – super feminine and a classice the Suzannah dress is and well done with the hat (or Kate could wear the hat she just sported to church while at Balmoral).

B – that Lela Rose reversible dress is adorable. And I agree would be a great background for the polar bear brooch – and styled with the navy is a great look.

Jackie – Oh Canada! Super sleek your choice of skinny jean, black turtleneck and a super cute Roots Maple Leaf Wrap. This outfit could be something she’d wear given there are so many outdoor, casual events.

Christen, now that’s a dress. Not sure if there’s a women out there that wouldn’t want this Erdem dress in her wardrobe. It certainly doesn’t need much and really makes a statement.

Well done everyone! And now the tour begins….

  55. Not to be a negative nelly, but when I found out Natasha is now officially listed as Kate's stylist and that she is accompanying Kate on the tour I almost cried. I was so disappointed. I am sure Natasha is a lovely person but I like Kate's own style best, no contest, and THAT is what I wanted to see on this tour (and from now on). I will try to be optimistic about the upcoming outfits but only because I love this blog so much. Am I the only one who feels this way?
