It was a busy and exciting day for the Duchess of Cambridge as she travelled to Cardiff and Surrey for events marking the launch of her early years project - 5 Big Questions. Speaking about the landmark survey Kate said: "Parents, carers and families are at the heart of caring for children in the formative years, so that is why I want to listen to them. As a parent I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children. The Early Years are more crucial for future health and happiness than any other moment in our lifetime. I want to hear the key issues affecting our families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most."
The survey "aims to spark the biggest ever conversation on early childhood that will ultimately help bring about positive, lasting change for generations to come." It's being conducted by Ipsos MORI on behalf of the Royal Foundation and will last for a month. The results will be revealed in March and will determine the next steps in Kate's early years work.
David Holmes, chief executive of Kate's patronage Family Action said:
"Every parent, carer and family wants the best for their child and raising the profile of the vital early years in a child’s life is work of national importance. The insight this survey will give the early years sector valuable direction in designing and delivering services and support which reflect what matters most to people."
More from The BBC:
'Kate Stanley, from the NSPCC, says the duchess's survey will "provide fascinating insight into how we think about the early years and it will be a vital source of information for the sector".
Asked about the value of the questionnaire, she told BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday the results of the survey would help inform "the kind of conversation we need to have" with parents about the importance of a child's early years.'
During a conversation with parents and staff, Kate opened up about feeling isolated during those first weeks in Anglesey with George. Over the years, the Duchess has touched on the difficulties she experienced as a new mother. Being back in Wales today for the survey launch felt like the right time to elaborate more.
Kate said: "It’s nice to be back in Wales. I was chatting to some of the mums. It was the first year and I’d just had George - William was still working with search and rescue and we came up here and I had a tiny, tiny baby in the middle of Anglesey. It was so isolated, so cut off. I didn’t have any family around, and he was doing night shifts. If only I had had a center like this." I think it's so important for the royals to share their own experiences, it also offers a wider understanding of Kate's interest in this area.
People reports:
'The mom of three was visiting the innovative Ely and Careau Children’s Centre in an economically challenged area of the Welsh capital, where parents can get support as well as enroll their kids into the kindergarten.
“I see amazing work you’re doing here in so many areas,” she said. “It’s just bringing it to light. The critical work you’re doing has a massive social — and economic — impact later down the years.
One of the center’s workers talked about how they tried to accommodate the concerns of parents who have questions raising their kids “this way or that way.” Kate said with a smile, “That’s why I wanted to do the survey. Unless parents are supported, it makes the job that much harder.”
Kate heard first-hand about the support the centre provides.
And enjoyed speaking to several mums and their babies.
This little one was excited to show Kate around :)
During a visit to the children's playhouse 'Cath's Cottage'.
Kate said she loved it adding, "It's their own little world".
People's Simon Perry heard a special conversation between the Duchess and a little boy named River.
'Earlier, she met little River Rowson, 3, who was playing greengrocers with some pals. He was showing her some Brussels Sprouts and Broccoli. “Are you cooking too?” she asked as he offered some vegetables. “Are you going to make a stir fry?”
River clearly liked his new pal. “You’re my friend,” he told her, to which Kate replied, “You’re my friend too.”
There's plenty of footage from the conversation and the entire visit in the video below.
Afterwards, Kate returned to HMP Send women's prison in Surrey.
In 2015, the Duchess visited HMP Send to meet a group of women to discuss their experiences and the role addiction played in their lives. Following the visit, Kate said "I was reminded today how addictions lie at the heart of so many social issues and how substance misuse can play such destructive role in vulnerable people's lives. I saw again today that a failure to intervene early in life to tackle mental health problems and other challenges can have profound consequences for people throughout their lives. I am grateful to the women I met for sharing their difficult personal stories with me. It is encouraging to learn how organisations like RAPt are offering specialist support to help people break the cycle of addiction and look forward to a positive and crime free life."
Today, Kate reunited with some of the women she met almost five years ago to discuss how they are rebuilding their families.
Kate learned about the work of The Forward Trust and their efforts supporting clients to improve their relationships and often times reconnect with their children.
Over tea and cake, they discussed the challenges and hardships on families when a parent is in prison.
Kate asked the group how much their experiences as adults were influenced by their childhood. Several of the women immediately replied "all of it".
More from The Telegraph:
'During a later visit to Send Prison, near Woking in Surrey, Kate talked to prisoners who trace their history of offending and addiction back to troubled childhoods involving domestic violence, absent parents, drug and alcohol abuse.
“It really shocked me when I came here last time how early the challenges were that you faced,” the Duchess told a group of ex-offenders, including three women she met in 2015 when they were serving sentences.
One prisoner, Francesca, told Kate that the prison’s 12-step drug treatment programme had changed her life, adding: “Coming to jail is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”
The Duchess smiled and said: “It's so often I hear that. Why does it have to get to that point before people receive the help and support?"
Send houses around 280 prisoners, with a higher proportion of prisoners serving life for murder than any other prison.
Former inmates include the Duchess of York's former hairdresser, Jane Andrews, who murdered her boyfriend.

The Duchess was stylish in a separates look in camel, brown and black tones.
Kate wore Massimo Dutti's Limited Edition Buttoned Coat in camel (with thanks to Caroline Parr). The garment is described as: "Classic, sophisticated and with a flattering silhouette for the feminine figure, this camel-coloured coat made of natural fibres will be an essential piece this season. Tailored coat made of wool and cashmere. Featuring a slim fit, peak lapels, double-breasted button fastening, two flap pockets, long sleeves with four-button cuffs, a back vent and lining."
Kate wore a black turtleneck sweater with an animal print skirt by ZARA. The flowing midi skirt with faux leather waistband was on sale for just £10 before selling out.
Kate's boots are thought to be a past season Ralph Lauren style.
Kate wore her sold out Accessorize earrings.
And a new gold medallion style necklace with G, C and L engraved on it.
The piece is by British brand Daniella Draper (with many thanks to Middleton Maven). The Personalised Gold Midnight Moon Necklace is a classic piece. It has sentimental value with the children's initials engraved and today was a lovely occasion to debut it. I expect it was a gift over Christmas or Kate's recent birthday. It's available for £,1070.
I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Did you participate in the survey? I'm very much hoping we see more day tours like this. I found the trip to Wales particularly interesting as William and Kate will be Prince and Princess of Wales when Charles is King. I'd love to see a 'Wales Week' every year, perhaps over the summer when the children are on holidays. It would be a wonderful opportunity to highlights some of the fantastic charitable organisations, explore areas of interest in depth there and continue to nurture a lasting relationship with the country.
I love today's outfit and I also love that she's doing launch events outside of London.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I always felt the Cambridges was too London-centric but in the last couple of years they have taken lots of trouble to do more stuff in the rest of the UK, specificly in Wales and Scotland.
DeleteWonderfull cause respect
ReplyDeleteObsessed with today’s outfit!!!! I wear a lot of mid length skirts and boots here in NJ! That coat is fabulous and love this initiative! Thanks, Charlotte!!
ReplyDeleteI’m so proud of her!!!
ReplyDeleteA fantastic cause and good to see Kate doing solo away days too, she is doing amazing work. I prefer today's outfit to yesterday - pussy bows are a fashion trend I hope dies a quick death, along with headband hats lol!
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree on the headband hats!
DeleteLOL Pussy bows are classics not trends. They have just resurfaced from the back of the closet. However, headband hats were never in the closet - a trend that needs to get lost pronto!!!
DeleteI see pussy bows on women in 1950s movies and magazines -- the white blouse with the bow and a tweed skirt. I have never had one. :)
DeleteHmm i love the duchess wearing hmm its a wonderful cause and its i think its was first big surpise in 2020 and focusing her work
ReplyDeleteLove todays outfit. Great to see her launching this project.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Duchess Kate inside and out
ReplyDeleteLove how she has grown in to the role. She will make a fantastic queen one day!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful initiative and one she is clearly very passionate about. She looks stunning today! Love everything about this outfit.
ReplyDeleteThis was exactly what I was going to write. You said it all Teresa!
DeleteOH MY! What an exciting day for me! I am wearing almost this exact outfit! (A chiffon leopard midi dress and the Rhumbas, of course!) I've been waiting all fall for her to wear something like this- too fun I accidentally matched today! Sad this exact skirt is sold out, it's darling.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool, Cee Cee! I do like the skirt and it's so affordable. I'm sure you look great in the outfit too.
DeleteOh Cee Cee!!! How Fun!! :) xx

As I was looking at the pictures I was thinking that in another live Kate would have been a great Reception teacher and then it hit me that if it wasn’t for meeting William and her royal work, Kate might never have found her niche with early years.
ReplyDeleteShe was studying something completely different and would probably have persued a job as an art director or something along those lines.
If she didn’t have to fight so hard to be a stay at home mom, she might never have realised how much she enjoys being a hands-on mom.
The strange turns life takes everybody on.
Wow RachelZA!.... So So True!!
DeleteBecca USA
That’s very insightful RachelZA and an interesting what ifs! I had also thought yesterday about how her own experiences as a new mom had opened her eyes to an important topic! Those first years of their marriage are as close as William and Catherine will ever be to an everyday life! I think the initial goal was to give them time to build a strong foundation in their marriage and as parents, but it’s beginning to be evident it will yield many wonderful results beyond just them! Those strange turns of life you mentioned hold endless possibilities! PS On a fashion note, Catherine in that coat is my dream look! Unfortunately for me I’m too short and the color washes me out! She looks stunning!
DeleteLove that skirt, especially on her!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful coat but It’s so long. I much prefer when Kate wears coats a little shorter. The long coats drag her down. Sinead
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean but because she's wearing a long skirt, a shorter coat would look awkward.
DeleteThanks Charlotte for the quick post. Glad to see Kate busy and looking great doing it. Enjoying reading the comments on this blog.
ReplyDeleteI see on Twitter the golden pendant around Kate’s neck has the letters G, C & L with three little stars. Very apt to debut it at an event where she is talking to moms with small babies and sharing some of her own experiences. From the little bits they have shared over the years those first few months with George was not moonlight and roses.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe the pendant is another sign that they are not planning to expand their family any further.
RachelIZA, had to chuckle about “moonlight and roses” comment. I think every Mom who at all followed her that first year had a sense that it had not been easy. I assumed George was colicky, which can be a nightmare for a new parent with or without friends and family but a really good baby doctor or another knowledgeable person can make a world of difference. No idea what all went on but glad she can touch on it.
DeleteHi, Becca USA here..... OMG! I want this whole outfit!! I just wrote most of my thoughts on the last post, but I think this whole project/survey is Brilliant!!! Knowledge is power..... power for change! Again, to quote Maya Angelou..... "When we know better, we do better"! I love that she bookended her visits from being with new Mums & little ones & then finishing up with women in prison, again trying to learn where things went wrong for them in their lives & what could have been done differently & finding out what can be done now to facilitate them having a more productive quality of life, within the confines of their circumstances! So humbling!
ReplyDeleteBecca USA
Love the coat! not a huge fan of animal print anything but like most everything she carries it off well. Very interesting visits today. the prison must be a hard one, hearing those wrenching stories must be sad when you think how many are affected by 1 decision. so glad she is focusing on early years, in the long run this could have a huge impact on society as a whole. love that she is a long gamer and not a drama flash in the pan, makes her perfect for the BRF now and in the future. so glad William found her. thanks charlotte for your as ever informative post, love learning along with the fashion!
ReplyDeleteWe heard rumblings before Christmas, that Kate had something stellar coming in 2020, and boy hasn't she delivered ! To have the information to identify early warning signs, that could be detrimental in later life, is going to reap the rewards in the years to come ! Kate really is putting her heart and soul into this project, and I for one admire her even more for it !
ReplyDeleteFashion wise, she knocked it out the park today ! Love the longer coat, it suits her better than the knee length coats. Bel.
Love her fashion statement yesterday and today. Her hair is fabulous when she wears the "morning after" look fresh out of bed with a quick brush. The isolation she felt after the birth of George, living away from family, a husband absent during evenings because of work is one every single new mother feels. It is not unique but one that you don't think about unless you have experienced the early days. It is nice that she is sharing her feelings and I hope she did the same for people close to her. One can feel alone in a crowded room filled with people if no one reaches out.
ReplyDeleteYour last sentence is very true, USA Granny.
DeleteI suspect Kate knows first-hand about feeling alone in a crowded room - as a "commoner" she must have felt isolated many times during her first years with William when she was on her learning curve! So many special events, so many new people, so many rules...
Seeing her today is reassuring and inspiring!
Hi, Becca USA here...... I love how she was back in Wales & opened up about how hard & isolating it was for her there in Wales after George was born & with William working such tough hours! So honest & so helpful that she shared that. I love how she said that she herself would have benefited so much from the New Mums group like they had! Her honesty helps add that personal human element to her efforts in this important area!
ReplyDeleteBecca USA
She looks so at home during these engagements. It’s a joy to to see her passion for early childhood. On a fashion note : I love long warm coats.
ReplyDeleteI believe Kate's Early Years initiatives will be her legacy. It is so important, progressive, profound, and broad reaching. The work can be translated across geographies. Well done Kate.
ReplyDeleteLovely skirt/top combo. I would have preferred her hair in a pony, or half up with this outfit.
Legacy is a very big word. I would say children in general is Kates platform for her work. I have always thought that she simply wants to be a mother. Most of her interest in connected to children/family and slides under the umbrella of the most import mental health issues. Early childhood intervention is a key issue for the experts especially in economically and socially deprived areas of cities. Kates ability to introduce thought to the process is a good use of her influence in using her name. Ultimately, experts in necessary fields must be made available to aid community programs that work within the family network when people reach out.
DeleteUSA Granny, I agree that Kate has always been interested in being a mother, and seems to be a very good one. There is a ton of information and work that has been done for a long time on early childhood development (I'm thinking of the old Head Start in the US that failed to provide long-term benefit), but the cause needs a jump-start and a royal like Kate is probably the very best to do it. Everyone will be aware, as opposed to if an unknown expert put out the survey, and she is so well liked now (relatively as there are tons of people who hate everyone!) that she would be best to deliver the message. She has to tread lightly, I imagine, to avoid upsetting the actual researchers with PhDs and study experience -- she has to make people comfortable enough to provide feedback while ensuring the data are used by the actual experts. She has to also not make people feel like she can "fix" their local problems. But getting people talking is always a good start.
DeleteI am so impressed and touched that Kate mentioned she felt isolated as a new mom with George. I felt similarly: we’d recently moved to a new place and you’re so consumed with caring for your baby, it can be hard to get out and meet new people. I can imagine for her, too, there would have been anxiety about ensuring that anything she might confide in an acquaintance not get leaked to the press. I admire so much that her work in early childhood comes from a place of understanding what it’s like to be a mom herself and that even as a royal she is reaching out to connect on such a human level.
ReplyDeleteAh yes. She felt isolated in those first months as so many first time mothers do. It's an incredible challenge no matter what your level of privilege or circumstances. What a blessing that she was not hounded by a barrage of hateful and malicious press at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI actually feel she was and is hounded by the press before during and after all her pregnancies, let alone everyday. remember, they said how lazy she was for taking time off with her baby and how much time she took and how she had nannies and help and did not deserve the time off as she was so privileged. how she clearly did not want to do royal work and how William didn't either. folks were sure she did nothing at all on her maternity leave pertaining to her work for the BRF, etc etc etc, those are just the ones that come immediately to mind. how soon some forget.
DeleteI agree completely, Caroline. Some memories are very short indeed, as the Duchess of Cambridge continues to be criticized for spending too much time with her children and not enough time “working.”
DeleteCaroline, very true, she was hounded.
DeleteI am curious about the longer lengths she's favoring but really love the entire look today. It suits her perfectly, looks timeless but not dowdy. Lovely. These projects will be a lifelong interest for her, and it's nice to see.
ReplyDeleteAnon - Thank you for alerting me to a comment that shouldn't have been published.
ReplyDeleteJust a gentle reminder to ask everyone to keep comments on topic. This is a very special day for Kate's early years work and that's where the focus on this blog is and should be.
I've always admired Kate and the work she does for her charities and didn't think she could go up in my estimation any further. But since her and William put on the Christmas party for their charities I have somehow seen Kate in a new light. Her dedication, and compassion are to be celebrated and admired. She is an incredible ambassador for all her charities and for the Royal Family. I'm very proud of Kate and I believe she will go from strength to strength as her role unfolds.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have people's thoughts about something that has bothered me for some time now, and it's not a complaint about Kate or Meghan -- it's a comment on current hair styles. "In my day," one wore long hair pushed back, with an occasional curliness floating on the side on the shoulders. Now a good portion of the hair is pulled in front on either side -- I think I started fussing about that for the JJ character in Criminal Minds! I don't like how it divides the hair into three sections. Does anyone else dislike that? And of course it only occurs with longer hair.
ReplyDeleteDont apologize re "in your day". i agree. Kate is sooo beautiful. she should either wear her hair up or cut it shorter and show her glorious face. she has seemed overwhelmed by her hair recently. it simply is too much with her very slight frame. she is also getting more mature. might be time for a shorter cut. either way she is wonderful.
DeleteYes I have noticed that too. From the back, you see no hair at all or just a few straggling strands. IMO this trend, like so many trends, started in Hollywood, and is done solely for the cameras to see all the lush locks.
DeleteI don’t know, I think my hair always ended up in the front whether I wanted it there or not. I keep it short nowadays.
DeleteCJ
I don't understand why older women cant have long hair? in fact I feel a majority of the "Mature" would look way better with long hair!! maybe she likes her hair long??
DeleteAllison, I have always kind of preferred this style because of the way I saw it in a mirror (little did I understand that people mostly see me from all other angles, lol). I stuck with this hairstyle even though I know now it is not pretty from every angle, I guess I am just used to it and I like seeing a lot of my hair when looking in the mirror / facing the camera when occasionally I need to be in some photo. My mom always told me off and told me to pull my hair back when I was young and did my hair like this. Still I kind od cling to this styling, so I like it on Kate/ other ladies very much.
DeleteElla
Ella, my mother also keep telling me to pull my hair back! I think everyone with long hair is wearing it like this now -- if you look at any large group of women with long hair, like on the show "The Bachelor," they all have major tresses in the front on either side, and curly! What I do like is hair that is about shoulder length and bouncy and that way it can move all around the head. :)
DeleteThe 80's are back!
DeleteRegarding long hair as you get older....
DeleteI'm 47 and thought maybe it was time to cut mine shorter. I cut it last summer and afterwards my husband along with all 4 of my kids (18-24yrs old) thought it made me look older and that I should grow it back out! I have to say, I prefer mine longer as well. Maybe when I'm 57 I'll give it another go! :-)
Loving Kate's outfits this week and loving her initiative. As a teacher in a nursery school, I did complete the survey - I am wholeheartedly in agreement with her on the vital importance of the early years and good parenting.

ReplyDeleteLove the pendent, y TY Hanks for the id Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteoh my texting while a passenger in the car is not a good idea. It was Thank you for the ID on the pendent. I love it.
DeleteOK my friends, her coat collection is to die for. ....
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about the questions and then realized that probably the most valuable information will be the additional comments from survey takers. The items on the list are really good talking points and should provide a lot of thoughts from citizens. I like it very much because so many more people will be reached who cannot be reached by visits.
ReplyDeleteReally love this look on Kate! LOVE the camel coat, and how she has pared it with basic separates! There is an ease to her style that just seems to come together so well. The new pendant is the perfect touch to the outfit and to the event, very nice. I think this 'bundling' of events for her the launch of her initiative is very good, keeps the focus on the initiative but highlights the different areas that are affected. The prison visit is a hard reality check on just how important this initiaitive can be, it has far reaching potential. It's an impressive start. cc
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said.
Delete+1, CeCe!
DeleteThe tailoring on the coat is gorgeous. I like the animal print skirt and that it was something very affordable. When I was watching the videos from yesterday and today, I wish she would wear her hair pulled back more, as she is always touching her hair.
ReplyDeleteHope from USA
The BOOTS! I am here for the boots! This is the way you make a midi skirt look stylish and youthful and not dowdy! Okay....the coat is pretty awesome as well. I love this Camel color on her.
ReplyDeleteA+ outfit today!
Would someone pleaseeeee send Kate a basic pair of gold hoops. They would have knocked this fashion statement out of the ballpark.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice post Charlotte. It is humbling to hear even Kate felt isolated with her little baby which many moms go through. This makes her more relatable for sure
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of the coat- it looks like it's drowning her a little. I LOVE the outfit underneath, however! Because Kate's hair is so naturally curly and she was visiting such wet places today, I would have liked to have seen her hair pulled back and out of the way. LOVE this work.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to comment something: I found it astonishing that most of the women in prison stated that their childhoods were a struggle. THIS.IS.EVERYTHING.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed something: when Kate does kid engagements nowadays she always wears pants or long skirts. There's a practical reason: she can kneel down in long skirts or pants more easily or sprawl on the floor. That's a really important thing -- she's meeting kids at their level. She is now no longer the princess, but just a regular person kneeling down to talk to them. I can't help but compare it to her early days with the engagements. Then she often stood a lot and accepted flowers and smiled. There wasn't anything wrong with that sort of engagement but they're definitely very different from the things she did the past two days.
ReplyDeleteKate really has done so well with this initiative and it melds so well with her other charities/patronages. I absolutely love how she’s changed since becoming a mother and scoops all these the little ones up into her arms or sits on the floor, thoroughly engaged. I thought she looked lovely today and her pendant is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is definitely an unusual outfit choice for her and I am absolutely loving it!
ReplyDeleteVery modern and reminds me a lot of the style many hip young Brits are wearing right now.
She can definitely pull it off. Especially the coat is pretty unique in her coat wardrobe in terms of style and colour.
Much nicer than the Charlie’s Angel/ABBA style yesterday.
C.
Very inspiring work. You can tell this is an area of great concern for the Duchess of Cambridge. I would definitely buy the coat. Thanks, Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteThis is Kate at her best Highlighting causes she is truly passionate about Love her outfits this week too As always regal and professional
ReplyDeleteI love how Kate always lights up like a Christmas tree whenever children are in her vicinity. She has such a tenderness and deep love for children. I suspect that is a trait that she will always be known for, and especially when she is Queen Consort. William chose very, very well for the longevity of the Monarchy when he chose Kate.
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly, Jennifer! !😊 A Queen Consort is a very motherly role, in a sense. (Remember Elizabeth the Queen Mother?) Kate seems so fit for it! I'm sure she has given this aspect a lot of thought and her natural inclination towards children is a bonus.
DeleteGosh, I just love her. She looks lovely, and such important charities.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit, wonderful presence. The Duchess is marvelous.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little underwhelmed by a 5 question survey. The "24 hour" tour made it sound a little more exciting, but it's still just Kate saying hi! to folks. Waiting to see where this goes in March.
ReplyDeleteMoxie: Suspect the survey is setting a very high-level direction. Find the highest priority and misunderstandings. Plus, the survey will populate a contact date base for follow-up work. By making it simple, it's non-invasive. It also doesn't come off as an evaluative survey of existing agencies. This group is creating the environment for longer-term endeavors. Slow and steady!
DeleteThis may be a duplicate. I am impressed with the survey and the approach. This sort of endevour is actually very hard to do. I have also as a graduate student, granted a few years ago, done original research studies myself and have read many over the following years. I am impressed with this approach.
DeleteThis 24-hour whistle stop tour was a great idea to launch the survey, but they will have to keep it in the media if they want to get numbers to complete it, wondering what they have planned for the rest of the month.
ReplyDeleteLoved everything about this post, her wardrobe, her message, the cause she is working towards. Everything!!!!❣️
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte, so many people say that her earrings are from accessorize but I have a doubt what if the earrings are from the Queen of Bhutan because Kate has the necklace just like the earrings. What do you think Charlotte?
ReplyDeleteI just read BAFTAs will have a repeat dress code...I think it is super fun and I hope for either 1) pink-burgundy Gucci from 2019 or 2) white Self Portrait dress from Street Cat named Bob, but with forest green accessories. Do any of my fellow readers have any guesses?
ReplyDeleteElla
