As we prepare to celebrate Easter -- the second consecutive unlike any other -- this year there is a distinct sense of hopefulness in the air. Last year, we were filled with apprehension as we adjusted to the unknown. Twelve months later, as restrictions are cautiously unwound in the UK, there's very much a growing feeling a return to normality is within reach. For royal watchers, the 2021 calendar will be disrupted for the summer at least. Trooping the Colour will not proceed in its traditional form, nor will the annual Garter service. The Royal family's Easter service appearance could not proceed either, at which we have seen the Cambridges join the Queen in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
For their first appearance, the Duchess sported her cream Catherine Walker coat with matching pillbox hat, the Queen's diamond and pearl earrings, and Rupert Sanderson Malory pumps.
In 2018, the Duchess was expecting Prince Louis and had returned from several days with the Middletons in Bucklebury for the service. Kate wore her brown Catherine Walker coat, Betty Boop beret by Lock & Co., Balenciaga pearl earrings, Loeffler Randall 'Tab' clutch and Gianvito Rossi 85 praline pumps.
In 2019, the Duchess wore her elegant dove grey Alexander McQueen coat, Jane Taylor hat, her 'wedding day' Robinson Pelham earrings, acorn brooch, and suede shoes and clutch by Emmy London.
Hello! reports the Cambridge family will spend this Easter weekend privately. George and Charlotte are on Easter holidays from Thomas's Battersea until 20 April. It is not known if the family returned to Anmer Hall for the break or remained at Kensington Palace.

We have an exclusive discount from luxury accessories brand Black.co.uk to share, coinciding with their Spring Gifting Campaign and annual Easter sale event. Until Tuesday, 6 April, customers can avail of 20% off all items (this is applied automatically) + an additional 10% discount for Duchess Kate Blog readers by applying the code HRH10 at the checkout.
With sunshine and brighter evenings ahead, we are incorporating touches of colour and lighter pieces to our wardrobes. The Catania Italian Cotton and Linen Scarf is one of those staple transitional pieces which can be dressed up or down. The sky blue and gold scarf, featuring a swirling leaf design, contrasts with the asymmetrical pattern of the borders.

I would think the family would prefer to have their Easter break in Anmer and I would imagine a visit from some extended family may be possible with the lifting of some of the restrictions. Wishing you Charlotte and fellow readers a lovely Easter. Suzanne in WA
ReplyDeleteDear Charlotte, with the Cambridges' 10th anniversary this month, I congratulate and thank you for 10 years of your tasteful and beautiful blog following Kate. I hope there will be some throw back posts on her early years, her evening dresses, her coats, maternity, speach appearances etc...so many oppiryunities to look back over the last 10 years. Still love Kate as much as well as visiting this blog
ReplyDeleteThe wrap with the butterfly and lilacs is SO pretty! My parents had lilacs and there were tons of lilacs on the campus of my first job, and I associate them with the wonderful smells of spring! The Queen had a lovely, as always, spring outfit and it was so festive to see.
ReplyDeleteThe comments seemed to be closed for a few days, I missed the opportunity to wish everyone a lovely Easter...
ReplyDeleteAlso I loved seeing those pictures again, I realized how much I miss real dressed up engagement! The hats... sight
Cannot wait to have this book, it will be a poignant documentation of all we have had happen to us this past year.
ReplyDeleteThe Catania blue and gold scarf is absolutely divine.
Beautiful Catherine. Always a joy to see.
Condolences on Prince Phillip's passing. I'm sure the family was prepared, but still so very sad for the Queen.
