The First Trooping the Colour of King Charles III

It was a historic day for the Royal family as His Majesty's first Trooping the Colour unfolded in London amidst a sea of pomp and pageantry.

Below, Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales travelling by carriage.

It's the second year George, Charlotte and Louis have all joined their mother for the carriage procession.

I believe little Louis has spotted the camera :)

I know many royal watchers and writers have mentioned various occasions on the royal calendar where one simply expects to see Her late Majesty. I started this post precisely along those lines, forgetting for a moment Queen Elizabeth II is no longer with us, so much has Trooping the Colour been aligned with her. The monarch attended the annual summer celebration of her birthday every year of her reign, with the exception of 1955, when the National Rail strike forced its cancellation. Last year, Trooping marked the beginning of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, the public's last opportunity to show thanks for a lifetime of service. The celebratory atmosphere with tinged with a hint of sadness as we could all see how frail our queen had become. Trooping offered a highlight for me -- this darling photo of Elizabeth II not just as monarch, but as a doting great-grandmother sharing a very sweet moment with Prince Louis.

As last year was the final birthday parade of Queen Elizabeth II, this year is the first of King Charles III's reign.

It is a major milestone for the new King who elected to join the parade on horseback.

It marked the first time a monarch has ridden for Trooping since 1986.

The annual Trooping the Colour has celebrated the sovereign's birthday for over 260 years.

Charles took the salute as Colonel in Chief of the seven regiments of the Household Division.

On a personal level, there's a poignancy which came about rather coincidentally. As Prince of Wales, Charles was Colonel of the Welsh Guards for almost half a century (a role William now holds). The honour to Troop the Colour falls to the Welsh Guards this year.

More from the Welsh Guards on their distinctive red tunic: "Synonymous with British military tradition, the red tunic, or "redcoat", has been an iconic part of the uniform since the 17th century. Its bright hue is instantly recognizable, symbolizing the history and prestige of our armed forces. But it's not just any red tunic -- the Welsh Guards' version sports a distinctive leek emblem, a proud national symbol of Wales, on the collar. It's this emblem that sets the Welsh Guards apart, marking their unique identity within the broader military tradition. The tunic itself is a doublet, a design that harkens back to historical military attire. Snug-fitting and waist-length or slightly longer, the doublet design is a nod to our longstanding military lineage."

Being Prince of Wales was such a monumental part of the King's life, I can't think of a more fitting tribute than seeing the Welsh Guards in all their glory today. It comes amid news Charles has decided to end the lease on his beloved Welsh home, Llwynywermond, acquired through the Duchy of Cornwall. It had been presumed William, Kate and their family would simply continue the lease and base themselves there during Welsh engagements and perhaps for family holidays. Instead, the couple have decided they will not have a home base in Wales and will instead stay in hotels when the need arises.

To express what the day meant to the regiment, it is best surmised in the words of the Welsh Guards:

'This week, as we delve into the rich tapestry of our history, we have a particularly poignant moment to share. Today, we cast our minds back to 1952, when the late Queen Elizabeth II experienced her first ever Trooping the Colour. A young Queen, newly crowned, she reviewed her troops with the poise and grace that would become her trademark over the course of an extraordinary reign. It was an unforgettable moment that marked the beginning of a new era in Britain's history.

Fast forward to the present, we stand on the threshold of another era. This weekend, King Charles will preside over his first Trooping the Colour as head of state. We can't help but reflect on the symmetry of these moments - beginnings bookmarked by this storied ceremony. As we honour our past and look to our future, we are reminded of the continuous thread that runs through our military history.

Whether we're talking about the Welsh Guards or the wider Household Division, our tradition, loyalty, and dedication remain steadfast. This weekend, we will be incredibly proud and honoured to stand centre stage as we Troop our Colour for the newly appointed King.

It is a moment of deep significance and an honour we carry with immense pride. Onward to a new chapter!

An interesting nugget: Prince William's uniform features Royal Cyphers of both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III on his shoulder epaulettes, signifying his status as a Personal Aide-de-Camp to both monarchs.

A video from the procession.

Queen Camilla, Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, wore a silk red coat dress based on the uniform of the regiment. Familiar details include the 'Grenade Fired Proper' embroidered in gold bullion on the collar and gold bullion black slashes. Camilla's Philip Treacy hat is a nod to the bearskin with a Grenade exploding up to a feather plume.

The Duchess of Edinburgh, elegant in cream, travelled in the procession with Sir Tim Laurence.

Commanding scenes.

Over 1,400 officers and military personnel were on parade, together with two hundred horses; over four hundred musicians from ten bands and corps of drums marched and played as one. Some 113 words of command were given by the Officer in Command of the Parade.

The parade route extends from Buckingham Palace along the Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and back again.

Princess Charlotte and the Duchess of Edinburgh watch from a balcony.

Afterwards, senior royals gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

In keeping with recent events, only senior working royals joined the King and Queen. I always enjoyed seeing the rather vast gathering of extended family and feel it is a pity we will not see it again.

A quick glimpse of Kate's Trooping appearances 2011-2019.

Last year, Kate chose a fabulous look: a crisp white Alexander McQueen coatdress, Philip Treacy hat and sapphire and diamond earrings previously worn by Princess Diana.

This year, the Princess chose her favourite colour -- green -- a decision filled with significance. The bespoke coatdress with satin trim by Paris-based, Singaporean designer Andrew Gn in vivid green is most likely a sartorial nod to Kate's colonelcy of the Irish Guards. This is Kate's first year in the role and she paid tribute with her choice of ensemble and the regiment's brooch.

Of course, William and Kate will be travelling to Singapore in November for Earthshot and I suspect she has been planning looks already. Andrew Gn would be a superb choice for the trip.

The piece is based on this look from the designer's Spring/Summer collection. Note the distinctive blue bejewelled embellishment.

A closer look at the Irish Guards gold shamrock brooch and Princess Diana's sapphire earrings (Kate also wore the sparkling pair for Trooping last year).

Kate's matching hat is a Philip Treacy piece. The bespoke creation features the same embellishment used on the coat dress.

Kate carried the LK Bennett Dora clutch (with thanks to Royal Fashion Police). It's currently in stock on LK Bennett's website here.

Kate completed the look with green suede pumps -- quite possibly by Aquazzura (with thanks to Gabi).

We'll see the Waleses on Monday afternoon for the annual Order of the Garter ceremonies, a highlight of the calendar.

  1. Trooping the colour is one of my favourite occasions, this year was definitely special and didn’t disappoint. I must say I love the PoW outfit, is a favourite.
    The kids were adorable

  4. I wondered why Charlotte was perhaps the only girl in Britain today to wear a sailor's dress, but I suppose it was the only way to have something in a uniform style. Her brothers' blazers are also reminiscent of uniforms at this military event, after all. Nice idea to have all three wearing the colours of the Union Jack.

  5. It really is a sight to behold. My first thought was the late Queen as well, I'm sure she is with them in spirit and in their hearts. They were just leaving the palace when I woke up. First glance I thought it was a selection of brooches on the dress. This is probably the nicest shade of green I have seen the Princess wearing. I like the dress even if the details aren't to everyone's taste. The hat was perfection and really finished off her look today. Diana's sapphires are always welcome. The kids looked very smart as well, I'm loving Louis red shorts. The Queen just had her OMG moment but for all the wrong reasons. No No No. The military look should be left to the military. It can look cute on young kids. I thought that the Queen had decided to wear a uniform, which is fair enough. I'm sure she put a lot of time and effort into her look today so I'll say no more. Except I'm glad I was laying down when I saw that big gold embellishment on the back. I can imagine Princess Anne throwing her eyes to heaven at this look. The brooch looked lovely on her. There is a very funny picture of Louis in the paper's. Blocking his nose after smelling horse poo. 🤣. Thanks Charlotte. S.🙂.

  6. I agree with Charlotte that the small ensemble on the balcony seems a little underwhelming compared with years past, but it’s nice to see the three generations together.

Kate looks absolutely fantastic. Not only her best Trooping looks, but one of her best ever.

I’m not sure about Camilla’s dress. Kate does a pretty good job when she militarizes her dresses or coats (particularly during those Remembrance Days ceremonies), because the notes are subtle. She presents herself as honoring the military, without cosplaying. Camilla’s dress is way too uniform-y and not enough dress. It looks like a costume.

  7. I don't care for the buttons. It makes for a busy look with the broach and earrings.

  8. Beautiful elegant outfit for Kate. I liked that the children matched their father and the King and Queen, too.

  9. I like Kate's look today, especially the neckline and the hat (I think she suits wide brims). I know they get criticism for the number of houses they have, especially given William's work on homelessness, but I loved Charles's Welsh House. There are pictures online and if I could live in any of the Royal properties I would have chosen that one (with Balmoral as a close second for the scenery and acreage!).

    1. I'm surprised myself, they really love that house. He really does seem to be getting down to the business of cutting back. I don't think he will ever give up Highgrove, it probably pays for the rent he gives to the Duchy, tours and products etc. I don't think he would want to give up Birkhall either. I think he should give Prince William Balmoral to run as a business but for family use as well. S.🙂.

  11. I do enjoy the pomp and pageantry of royalty. As I've tried to explain to other Americans who are bewildered by my interest, my pleasure in following royals is rather akin to a passion for spectator sports. Trooping the Colour offers better visuals than the World Cup final or the Super Bowl!

As for Princess's look, the green color is delectable, and the hat is to die for. I think I like the Gn dress, too, but because I can't see it full-length, with the Princess standing, I am not quite sure. I don't really like A-line skirts; with a fitted bodice in a dress I prefer either a pencil design or a full skirt, because I find A-line designs unflattering on most people, myself included. However, I do like the embellished top, while the blue/green color scheme greatly appeals to me.

On an earlier post, someone rightly complained about the way Prince Louis is being stereotyped in the media as the "cheeky rebel" (or the "entertaining spare," to use my own phrase.) I noticed this labeling in today's media coverage of the Trooping, and I have to add my voice to the earlier comment. We've seen the harm such stereotyping can do. I'm hoping that the Waleses are themselves very aware of the consequences of this sort of thing and that they are making every effort to counteract it at home. Unfortunately, events of the past four decades or so have led me to doubt the royal family's psychological sophistication and acumen. That could lead to problems for this little prince of a variety that we've witnessed before.

    1. I also feel the children are being set up as the serious heir, the in-charge daughter, and then the cheeky imp. If occupations/professions/education are emphasized, the children can develop their own strengths and values. It could happen -- it seems like the family is acting a bit freer since the death of the Queen.

    2. Hopefully Louis' mother, the POW, whom I think is very emotionally intelligent, will be there for him for a long time to come. Sadly Harry, the labeled one of his generation, lost his mother when he was young and especially vulnerable. I also think William is a much more hands on father than Charles was. I think Louis' supportive home life will help him thrive and rise above the stereotyping.

      Delete
    3. Very good point. I personally see him as a cute funny little boy. If he's been labelled as a bit of a clown then that will stick. I really get what you are saying because my late Mother used to say "If you tell a child they are bold they will live up to the name you put on them" It must be very hard growing up with the eyes of the world on you. Let alone be singled out for perfectly normal behaviour for a boy of his age. I personally find him very well behaved. S.🙂.

    4. Also, the children won't be allowed to read the press coverage, I'm sure, so it shouldn't impinge on them for a while yet - by which time Louis won't be a little boy acting like a little boy any more.

    5. Except that he may not be able to escape the labels that British tabloid culture has slapped on him. Others have not. That's my point.

  12. Love this celebration. Catherine looks spectacular. The hat and dress are gorgeous and impressive. The hat is beautiful in her and love the earrings with it. The children looked very appropriate and cute. Everyone in the Royal family was a stand out in my view. How fun, It is a bit bittersweet to see a much smaller group as it was always fun to see the larger family for this event. Ali

In a photo from Mark Cuthbert/UK Press via Getty images, his photo showed the edge of Catherine's sleeve, an inside view, and it looked like buttons or round felt stabilizers and been sewn along the inside edge. 18. Although I heartily dislike both green and K’s penchant for tribute dressing I do think the green, white and red colors of the Welsh flag/symbols are a nice touch. I noticed Charlotte’s dress seems more midi length than we usually see her wear (vs knee length) which is a more grown up look for her and looks really nice. Please do show some photos of Sophie, her outfit looks beautiful.

  23. I've been a fan of the Gloucesters for a couple of decades now. Prince Richard was a working architect when his father and elder brother died and he became Duke. He's been as faithful as his cousin, the Duke of Kent. I appreciate what little attention he and his lovely lady receive. Those on the balcony today show the best of the Royal Family's sense of duty.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like Kate’s outfit, the colour suits her and the wide-brimmed hat balances the embellished dress. The brooch looks a little jarring as it clashes totally with the blue embellishments and earrings but as it signifies her connection to the Irish Guards she gets a pass on that.

  25. Wow! What a day, full of so many emotions. I'm guessing it was bittersweet for the King, as he looked a bit emotional at times, up on the balcony. This is something he has prepared for & waited for his whole life... Now it's here & his mother is gone & time marches on..... it can make one feel one's own mortality & much else.

I also miss seeing the extended Royal Family up on the balcony. I understand what Charles is going for... but it was a great chance to see the whole extended family celebrating as such.... a family.

The children were Adorable!! I loved Charlotte's dress (& noticed she too is part of the "White Shoe Club" lol :) (as am I) George is just looking so grown up & ever so much like his father. Although, I have seen for years, something in his eyes that reminds me of King George V. I have always thought it a striking coincidence, that James Middleton looks quite like George V & the Czar, especially with his beard. We've all had that experience of meeting people who look quite like someone else not of their family, sometimes more than the actual family members!?

Louis was as spunky as ever & I thought his red shorts, a nice touch. I was just really struck by William.... he has matured so much, from his days as the "reluctant prince", into the his stately role as the Prince of Wales! One can see how steady he is!

Now for Kate.... Charlotte, to borrow one of your words, she was Sublime!!!! Every bit the Queen in waiting. She is just a very impressive person, the ways she adapts to all the different roles in her life, without losing herself one bit. At the essence of all of it, she's still genuinely Kate!! :) xoxo

    1. Your last paragraph is beautifully expressed... Princess Catherine looked so beautiful as to be 'sublime' as you and Charlotte say, but it's the next two sentences describing her personality and roles that is so perfect, and what makes her so beloved. 4. Oh Becca, your words are perfect. I loved your last paragraph, our beautiful Catherine is so genuinely herself, which in many ways is the most remarkable and endearing asset to the Monarchy. From the Children’s Princess, to Pianist, Sailor, Hockey Player, Bee Keeper, Patron, Archer, Marmalade maker, Dragon Boat Racer, Artist, Tennis Player, Colonel, A Designers Dream, Duchess, Dame, Daughter, Sister, Wife & Queen in waiting ….she is a truly incredible young woman. In every role she is sunshine, kindness, compassion and duty all rolled into one. And best of all, she is herself, and so completely in love with her Prince.

  26. Thank you for the post. IMO Kate and Charlotte should have coordinated in color - Charlotte in white/red seems to fight the formality of Kate’s. I get that it is patriotic but perhaps not this occasion. Or Kate should be coordinating more with the kids. Not a fan of the buttons/brooches on Kate’s dress - too much and completely hides the shamrock. Absolutely not a fan of Camilla’s outfit. Haven’t seen embellishment on back but doubt it would change my mind. Big miss for her 1st Trouping as Queen. The kids are always cute. Louie should be of any age to behave a bit more in line with royal expectations. Missouri Gal

  38. I used to also think that QEII was a “doting” grandmother, but unfortunately, my opinion of her changed a lot after reading Spare. I assumed she was reserved even among family, but it did not occur to me that she literally never hugged her grandchildren. Ever in their lives. That struck me more than anything else from Spare, and it colored the lens through which I saw the Queen.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is a curious detail from Spare. It makes me wonder if the Queen herself was ever hugged when she was a child. Certainly her grandmother Queen Mary does not seem like a hugger. But the Queen seems to have had a close relationship with her own mother, maybe just not physically affectionate. I think that people from that era were quite reserved with physical displays of affection, even in private. I have seen that with my own grandparents. Prince Harry may not understand that, having been raised by Diana, who famously encouraged hugs to people with AIDS.

      Delete
    2. Yes, I’m sure the queen was likely raised by nannies, and probably did not get many hugs (which is sad). As a parent though, I just can’t understand being able to resist it. Children need physical touch, and God made us to instinctually want to cuddle and carry our children. I can’t imagine fighting that instinct off for the sake of society or appearances or whatever reason they have. Harry’s descriptions of longing to hug his grandmother but knowing that he could not touch her were heartbreaking, especially given his huge loss.

  39. Hello everyone! What a truly wonderful, memorable, historic and thoughtful Trooping of the Colour this has been. I’m reminded that we’re living through such a special time in history, with everything we’re watching being captured by historians as the first moments in our new Monarchs reign. In years to come these images will be important historically, and we’re watching it all unfold. As you know, I haven’t been 100% well with my Breast Cancer surgeries & treatment, and I’ve been so grateful for my life long love of Royal watching, as the last six months have been filled with fabulous Royal moments. The great news is, I’ve felt much better in the last week or so, and whilst my energy levels are struggling a bit, my cancer has been caught early, and my surgery and treatment have been successful. I’m so incredibly lucky that South Australia has a bi-yearly free mammogram programme - and without any symptoms at all, it was only because of this that my cancer was discovered. If these are available to you, please get yourselves checked 😍 On to our stunning Princess of Wales, and how beautiful did she look today. Her thoughtful way of dressing to honour the Irish Guards was exquisite. I loved everything from top to toe, she was immaculately gorgeous - an incredibly talented new designer, who chose the most glorious shade of green to highlight her beauty. I loved the small changes that were made to the original garment, including the ribbon cuffs & hem being removed, and the vividness of the green being changed. I absolutely loved her hat, and she reminded me of the many times our beautiful Diana, Princess of Wales also wore this style. I’m sure we will see this beautiful dress again, and it appears that the designer has left the option for her to change the cuffs in the future. The children looked wonderful, and Charlotte’s pretty dress was surely a nod to the flag of St George on this special day. They are all growing up so quickly, and I’m confident that both William & Catherine will see that Louis is steered in right direction, and these moments in the press regarding his enthusiasm & personality will be nurtured in the right way in the years ahead. They are incredible parents, and they will do everything to help shape these 3 beautiful children to face their destinies as the years unfold. It was special to hear both verses of God Save the King being played - and to see such incredible crowds for our new King, and the fly past was sensational! I just loved the CR formation - WOW!
I just wanted to thank you Charlotte for helping my recovery with your wonderful writings in the past six months, and to all of you who comment, I’ve read every single one of your postings, and I’ve loved following your thoughts, opinions & information you’ve shared. Whilst I wasn’t well enough to contribute myself, it was still so special to be able to read everything. It’s such a wonderful, and enjoyable community that Charlotte has built here … and I’ve missed contributing to the family! Sending you all lots of love from Australia, Dee x 🇦🇺

    3. Dee, it's so wonderful to hear from you & to know you are hanging in there, even feeling a bit better. Thank you for your encouraging words about Mammogram screening. My husband is a Radiologist & your case is far too often what happens. I want to echo your encouragement, for all to take advantage of early routine screening, as opposed to waiting until you feel something.

Thank you for adding your voice to the chorus, about the historical day, lovely Kate, as well as her & William's wonderful family! Here's to many many more "good" days for you!! :) xoxo

    6. Dee, in response to your first post. I agree with every word, she really does put the P in Perfection. She is a huge asset to crown and country. She has taken things slowly and did it her way and I think we see the benefits of that now. She must be very happy because she hasn't looked better and she is just glowing recently. I'm very happy to hear you are feeling better. Keep up the prayers. I hope you're Husband is doing well also. S.🙂.

  40. It seems I am in the minority because I really dislike Kate’s outfit (and Charlotte’s, and Camilla’s). This particular shade of green is so strong on the eye it’s almost hurting. In combination with the big embellishments it’s coming across a bit too harsh. The blue/green combination is not working well in my opinion. The very visible seams on the skirt and the wide seam at the bottom make it look heavy and outdated. Kate has been dabbling in vintage looks before but many don’t work well. This is definitely my least favourite TTC outfit. And her new role did most definitely not require a different way of dressing. If she wanted to honour the Irish Guards she could have done it better. Just choosing green is a bit lazy.
Charlotte’s dress was a bit long and I don’t think this sailor dress was a good choice. Especially with her braids. It reminded me of a folklore look.
Camilla was a miss as well. I don’t think military costume dressing was a bad idea. But it was poorly executed.
So, all around a disappointment in terms of fashion this year.

  41. Charlotte, do you have any intel on Charlotte’s dress? I read an article that she may be following her mother’s lead in upcycling, in this case, the dress from the coronation. The article said the original dress was modified with a new bodice & sleeves. I honestly would have thought coronation garments would be preserved for future displays, bring such an historic.event. Have you heard or read anything about the dress Charlotte wore to the Trooping being an upcycled version of her prior dress? Missouri Gal

    1. Hello, there's no official information unfortunately. I would be shocked if the Coronation dress was upcycled as it holds historical significance and I expect will be included in exhibitions. I'm thinking Kate's independent dressmaker is more likely.

    2. I read that as well and laughed. Not only because I've seen both dresses but because it's just a silly story. That dress will go into the royal collection as a piece of history. We might see her wearing it again if required for something and still fit's. Now you have got me thinking. I wonder will the children go to the coronation in Scotland and what will the Princess of Wales wear. S.,🙂.

  42. Grace and elegance the colour is gorgeous and the hat is perfect for her. Love seeing Diana’s sapphires and the buttons on the dress are very interesting. I think the a line shape stops it being a retro 80’s outfit, but that’s just my memories of the 80’s pencil skirts!! I love the boots on the model wearing the dress in the photos I would love to have those!!
Charlotte looked lovely I wonder if she gets any choice in what she wears? Sophie looked gorgeous love the hat. I like Camilla’s hat and outfit I think it matches the occasion and her position. I have really missed seeing the extended family here I understand the slimming down of the monarchy but this is a celebration and I think it would be appropriate to have all the family on the balcony. 43. The best dressed in my opinion was Sophie. Kate’s vivid green dress stood out by design on the balcony amidst the sea of red. But as PoW, red would’ve been a nicer “sartorial” and respectful acknowledgement. The buttons on Kate’s dress did me in. The dress fitted her lean silhouette as this is her favorite go to look. But between the bright green color and what look like dresser nobs as buttons, the combo was too much. I think you can go eye catching bold and bright color with simplicity OR quirky and unique accessories to grab the eyes (especially for more fun, informal occasions). Not both. There’s a fine line about standout dressing where you need to balance style with the occasion while not being too obvious, especially when you already are going to be the center of attention. I think Jackie O did this well by combining her innate glamour with muted sophistication without appearing as if she’s trying too hard.

    1. Catherine is dressed in green because she is honoring the Irish Guards.

  44. I loved seeing the picture of the late Queen on horseback, riding side saddle - of course. The Princess Royale does not ride side saddle - of course. This is a fascinating detail all its own and a reminder of history that really wasn't so long ago. I do miss the Queen at these events.

  46. Wow…this is simply gorgeous! That hat is my favorite yet. She pulls off this color perfectly, and the style of hat is very flattering on her. Love her hair too, the hat and hair compliment each other. Thank you Charlotte. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Our two most senior royal women were absolute perfection. Both looked truly wonderful and utterly appropriate for the event. Both outfits represented a nod (in Queen Camilla's case a very strong nod) to their recent appointments as Colonel for a particular regiment. Grenadier Guards for the Queen and Irish Guards for the PoW. This wasn't a fashion event. It was a celebration of military commitment and dedication and both women wanted to show a visual connection with their new regiments. Bravo, they managed to do this and remain elegant and dignified.

  48. Although not a fan of the dress, I find the look very elegant.

Last year's look, however, remains one of my absolute favourites: elegant but not stiff - and that hat!

  49. I think the dress with the embellishments is too much . The dress with the shamrock brooch and the earrings is enough in my opinion.
I hope that with it being Hospice week in addition to the press release comment she actually visits a hospice . Ideally EACH as that is one of her few patronages.
I’m looking forward to more details on Williams homeless project . I understand the idea is to build affordable homes on Duchy land - I’m hoping they will be built on brownfield sites and be passive homes . I’m addition I would hope that any income from renting or profit from selling the properties would be used to build more homes and not provide him with more money

  50. Beautiful. Catherine is stunning in this green. I think she's beginning to copy the queen, as in being very easy to spot. As she should.
Charlotte looked sweet, but the sailor dress seemed somewhat casual compared to everyone else's style. Still cute, though.

  51. This shade of green is stunning on Catherine as is the hat shape. The rest of her purifier unfortunately is a no for me. Too much going on and I feel it ages her. I love Sophie’s outfit though.
