Kate Supports New Mental Health Campaign & It's Time to Look at Our Stylists' Choices for a Date with 007 (Part 1)

Amidst a flurry of engagements announcements for Prince William, Kensington Palace tweeted "The Duchess of Cambridge has shown her support for 'You're Never Too Young to Talk Mental Health' – the new campaign by the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families". The campaign features a new animated film with an introduction by the Duchess.

During the introduction, Kate said she is proud to support the campaign: "Sometimes, it's just a simple conversation that can make things better."

The full text of the introduction.

Talking Mental Health is an animation designed to help begin conversations about mental health in the classroom and beyond. The animation and accompanying resources have been created by a team of animators, children, teachers and clinicians, and is being taught to year 5 and 6 children around the UK. You can view it in its entirety here.

On their website the Anna Freud centre shares more on the campaign: "Our child mental health experts have also developed a booklet: ‘Supporting mental health and wellbeing in schools’, a series of expert advice films which offer practical guidance about what teachers can do in the classroom to support mental health, and what to do if they are concerned about a child and a leaflet for parents and carers offering tips to talking mental health with children. All our resources will be free to access online through our Schools in Mind networks."

The message was recorded in January during Kate's visit to the centre's Early Years Parenting Unit to learn more about their work with families who have children under five years old. The Duchess wore a blue belted Eponine London coat for the day.

It's great to see the Anna Freud Centre launching this campaign with support from Kate. Of course, the centre is one of the eight charity partners of Heads Together. I understand William, Kate and Harry's mental health campaign is due to progress to its next phase in October. As previously mentioned several engagements have been announced for William until the end of the month including the premiere of Blue Planet 2, which I expect Kate was due to attend as it's the BBC's landmark Natural History series and will be attended by Sir David Attenborough. The Duchess is patron of the NHM. Kate remains very poorly, so one imagines it's a case of William stepping in.

************

In some ways, it feels an age since we began our 'Styling Kate' series in early August. So much has happened within the Royal family, from Prince William beginning a new phase in his life as a full-time royal, Prince George beginning school and, of course, the major surprise announcement the Duchess is expecting. Elsewhere within the Royal family, Prince Harry is continuing to develop his role, with the hugely successful Invictus Games kicking off on Saturday. His personal life also appears to have fallen perfectly into place. Prince Philip officially retired; there's been quite the staff shake up followed by continued reports of infighting within the royal households. Yes, it's been a rather interesting month for royal watchers :) We've been thoroughly enjoying a look at your submissions for Royal Ascot, but it's now time to turn our attention to the glamorous evening ensembles you prepared for the Duchess to wear for the royal premiere of the latest James Bond movie Royal Flush at the Albert Hall. For a sparkling evening with 007, acclaimed actors and leading figures in the business, we wanted 'wow' factor looks - and you all certainly fulfilled that brief. Something about royal premieres and glitzy evening events fits in so wonderfully with the current change in seasons, when one sees the leaves changing colour and the cooler, darker evenings descending. Such events on the royal calendar are now indelibly linked with the build up to the close of the year. I'm thinking of the Diplomatic Reception, Royal Variety Performance, galas for charitable organisations... Without further delay, let's take a look at your choices!

Phyl - Phyl chose pieces from several of Kate's go-to brands and designers for her look, which she assembled on Polyvore. Below, we see the purple Roland Mouret Lely Stretch-Crepe Gown featuring the label's signature asymmetric neckline. The look is accessorised with the Jimmy Choo Anouk Glitter Pumps, Oscar de la Renta earrings and the L.K. Bennett Cecilia clutch. The look is completed with a nod to Bond - Santa Maria Novella Melograno perfume - used by Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale.

Silverdiver - The dark forest green Jenny Packham Long-Sleeve V-Neck Beaded Tulle Gown is teamed with Jimmy Choo Lance Sandals with crystals, the champagne Jimmy Choo Finley clutch, The Queen's Emerald Pendant Earrings and the Delhi Durbar Necklace.

FL Lady - FL Lady also chose Jenny Packham - opting for the designer's Half-Sleeve Embellished Gown in Black Abusson Blue. The gown featuring a jewel neckline is styled with the L.K. Bennett Agata Sandals in black, Kate's L.K. Bennett Frome clutch, Kate's Robinson Pelham wedding earrings and The Queen's South African Diamond Necklace and Bracelet.

Sofy - Sofy chose a sweeping green strapless embellished gown from Tony Ward's Fall 2016 Collection with a green jewelled Prada clutch, Queen Victoria's Emerald Fringe Earrings and The Godman Necklace.

Helen in Indiana - Helen shared her look via Polyvore, choosing the Michelle Mason One-shoulder cutout silk-charmeuse midi dress. It is described as "The antique-rose color of Michelle Mason's dress feels fresh and feminine, while the silk-charmeuse fabric beautifully skims the figure." It would be worn with red pumps, a Fendi Wallet, a Swarovski Crystal Brooch Necklace and matching earrings.

Anon 15 - Taken by the popularity of violet/purple hues on the blog, Anon 15 selected a purple one-shoulder Monique Lhuillier gown. It is accessorised with Saint Laurent Amber Metallic Leather Ankle-Strap Sandals, the Christian Louboutin So Kate clutch and antique amethyst drop earrings.

Rebecca - Sweden - Rebecca chose the Suzannah Sculpted Fifties Influence Floor Length Strapless Gown inspired by an archived couture gown. The gown would be worn with the Jimmy Choo Lance Sandals and Kate's Packham Casa clutch (the same one she carried to the Bond SPECTRE premiere). For jewellery, Rebecca went digging in the royal vaults choosing The Queen Mother's Sapphire and Diamond Fringe Earrings, The Queen's Sapphire and Diamond 18th Birthday Bracelet and Diana's Saudi Sapphire Necklace.

Kate - Kate shared her look via Polyvore featuring a vivid red draped gown by Emanuel Ungaro. "This Emanuel Ungaro Draped Gown is rendered in sexy, slinky viscose and features a one shoulder sash that highlights the décolletage and drapes over the shoulder into a muted, train-like flowing finish." It's styled with Kate's Jimmy Choo Vamp pumps, ruby and diamond bracelet and the earrings Kate wore to the 'Our Greatest Team Rises' gala in 2012.

Sonja from Bavaria - "I discovered this gorgeous brand called Talbot Runhof and they had this gown which was just... perfection! The pleats, the beading, everything is so 'Kate' yet a little departure from her usual style which I really like. The combination of these champagne/rosy hues with a bold autumnal bordeaux would just look so sophisticated and elegant - perfect for Kate!" Below we see the soft pink Talbot Runhof gown styled with the dusty rose Jimmy Choo Lucy pumps, a Ted Baker clutch and Portero 14k Rose Gold Mother of Pearl Diamond Large Dangle Earrings. Sonja would complete the look with crimson lipstick and nail polish.

April Girl - April Girl opted for a look one might describe as uncharted territory for the Duchess - a jumpsuit! The chic Adina Pink Off-The-Shoulder Jumpsuit from Reiss is styled with the light grey Reiss Broadway Suede Belt, Aspinal of London Eaton Clutch, Prada Scalloped Sandals, the Monica Vinader Nura Teardrop Long Cocktail Earrings and Queen Mary's Diamond Indian Bangle Bracelets.

Julia from Leominster - Husband and wife duo Julia and Leo worked together on their Bond premiere look. Below, we see the Catherine Walker Estella jade green georgette leaf evening dress with crystal hand embroidered borders. It's styled with seafoam green pointy toe Jimmy Choo pumps, a blue butterfly clutch from Etsy and The Queen's Opal earrings.

Melissa, UK - Melissa turned to Kate's favourite fashion house, Alexander McQueen, for her premiere look. The red Shoulder Drape Backless Gown is sleeveless with a pleated bodice. The dress is teamed with the Jimmy Choo Lang pumps and Trinket clutch. To finish the ensemble, it's Queen Victoria's Crown Ruby Earrings and the Queen's Wedding Gift Bracelet.

Molly Claire - Molly Claire opted for the shimmering Temperley London Wild Horse Gold Dress, adorned with sequins and scattered with hand-embroidered flowers. The ensemble also includes red patent Jimmy Choo Lance pumps, a velvet envelope clutch from Dries van Noten, the Queen's ruby and diamond earrings and Diana's gold charm bracelet.

Imqrious2 - Imqrious2 would love to see the Duchess wearing a one-shoulder emerald green gown with a belted waist, adorned with sequin details by Elie Saab. The Fall 2013 couture gown would be worn with statement emerald, sapphire and diamond earrings, Manolo Blahnik Racia Sandals and the very 'movie premiere appropriate' Judith Leiber Couture Camera Clutch Bag.

Hannah - Like Melissa, Hannah was taken with the the gorgeous Alexander McQueen Should Drape Backless Gown. Hannah accessorised the gown with Kate's much loved Jimmy Choo Vamp Sandals, the Panthiére de Cartier bracelet and Kate's emerald earrings.

Maria in Germany - Maria selected a sleeveless Zuhair Murad Satin Ballgown with Beaded Roses with a deep v neckline. The look is styled with Kate's black Prada pumps, the Jimmy Choo champagne glitter Fie clutch and Queen Victoria's Crown Ruby Earrings.

Marci in Utah - Like me, Marci loved the teal Jenny Packham gown with exquisite sheer lace detailing, Kate wore in 2012 for the 'Our Greatest Team Rises' gala. "I really want to see that teal Jenny Packham gown again too. It was far too pretty to be retired permanently, and its style needs another outing soon." For it's second outing, Marci would style it with Kate's Prada scalloped sandals and the The Queen's Brazilian Aquamarine Parure.

Sunny - Sunny chose the Monique Lhuillier Floral Contrast Gown with a vibrant floral satin skirt and beaded waistband. It's styled with the Jimmy Choo Cloud Pearl Satin Clutch Bag with crystal bead embroidery. The look is completed with the Robinson Pelham Evoke Tulip Earrings Set with Pearl Drops and Diamonds.

Joanne in CA - Joanne chose a glittering black gown with sheer lace sleeves and a slit paired with the Jessica Simpson Emilyn rhinstone encrusted sandals and the Lulu Townsend Faziah Box Clutch. The ensemble is accessorised with Diamond drop earrings.

Couch Potato - The Jovani Deep V-Neck Lace Mermaid Gown with mesh insert and cutout back. The gown is teamed with the Jimmy Choo Cloud clutch in steel metallic nappa leather and Talia Sandals. The look is completed with the dazzling Nizam of Hyderabad necklace.

Miol Mor - Miol Mor chose a sleek Ralph & Russo gown with a deep v neckline from the Autumn/Winter 2017 Collection, Kate's Oscar de la Renta Platinum Lamé Cabrina Pumps, Kate's Jenny Packham Casa clutch and The Queen's Andamooka Opal Necklace and earrings.

Nicole - Nicole chose the Oscar de la Renta Lace Detail Evening Dress with Jimmy Choo black stilettos, the sparkling Celeste small dégradé glittered satin clutch and the very on trend Oscar de la Renta Tasselled Clip-on earrings.

Caravino - Caravino selected the Valentino Floral-Print Keyhole Gown with a peter pan collar and sheer tulle sleeves. It's styled with the Gianvito Rossi Velvet Pointy Toe pumps and (with a little help from Sonja) the Queen's Chandelier earrings.

Siddhii - The Roland Mouret Hampstead Bloom One Shoulder Fil Coupé Gown, described as "Abstract pewter fil coupé lends Roland Mouret's black organza gown a subtle and modern slant. It's supremely crafted in the UK with an asymmetric one-shoulder neckline that brings the collarbones into focus, and falls into a fully flared skirt from a boned bodice.". Siddhii notes "And I would accessorize this dress with black heels and Diana's bracelet and necklace she wore for the London premiere of 'Gandhi' in December 1982."

Andrea from New York -  "A Carolina Herrera blue print off the shoulder gown from pre-fall 2017 collection, print reminiscent of Markus Lupfer dress Kate wore in Berlin" The gown is teamed with the Miu Miu Jeweled Satin Slingback Pumps, a Judith Leiber Faceted Box clutch and Kiki McDonough blue topaz pearl and oval drop earrings.

Courtney from NC - "I keep going back and forth between a couple gowns so I am going to do my look before I change my mind again. My husband thinks it is hilarious how much thought I put into this." Courtney chose the lilac Monique Lhuillier Draped Tulle Ball Gown with Ruffle Skirt with the Dasha Clutch, Alexandre Birman Clarita Satin Sandals and Graff Infinity Jewels.

Looking forward to preparing the remaining looks later this week :)

  1. I am in awe; each and every one’s styling is simply amazing.
    Hello Charlotte- I thought you accepted the Monique L. evening gown which goes with the earrings. I was in mind set of state dinner, trying to meet your two days deadline, and in search of purple. I submitted the other one the same day. I chose the clutch for the embossed exterior, here the inside shows. If you can update it fine, if not no big deal. It is a super busy week for me. See you next week end. Have a nice week

This had been a lot for one person to do, and done in excellence. I appreciate the prompt up date. Thank you very much, for making this “fashion show” possible. I completely understand why Kate favours these pre-recorded videos to support her charities. Afterall you can decide what you want to say, practice it, record it, watch it, record it again, edit it and the watch it again. And doing it while at an engagement, means she is already dressed, made up, hair done. As I say completely understandable, but I just don't think pre-recorded videos is her best medium.
    Maybe if she had somebody with her, more interview style or if she was moving around, more reporter style or maybe video is just not her thing. I actually prefer her public speaking to these videos.
    Full disclosure: video is not my thing either.

  4. All of the selections are fabulous! Wish Kate could wear them all, it would be fun to see how each one looks on her.

    OKAY, before I make my specific comments to people, I want to say that we have the BEST stylists EVER! You all did such a FANTASTIC job on these and I wish you all could style me! Just from my perspective, a few comments:

    1) Kate: I think the dress you chose is something she would absolutely choose. She looks fantastic in red and one of my favorite gowns she has worn was a pale blue/grey dress that was chiffon-looking like this with similar style. I think you nailed her style.

    2) Siddhi: I love the style of dress you chose and the little gold flowers were a wonderful embellishment on the dress!

    3) Imqrious2: I absolutely LOVE the color of gown you chose and especially the earrings and clutch! I think the whole outfit was a very "fun" outfit with a touch of elegance to it and I would love to see her in that ensemble.

    4) Rebecca from Sweden: your outfit was in my top 3 favorites. I adore the 50's look of the dress and thought all the accessories would look wonderful with the dress! I would love to see her in this!

    5) Anon 15: Your ensemble was #2 of my top 3 favorites. purple is not a color we have seen Kate in for gowns and I think her hair and eyes would be gorgeous with this whole outfit. The earrings, would be a show stopper with that gown! I would love to see her in this outfit!

    6) Courtney NC: This was my #1 choice for favorite! I LOVED this whole ensemble!!! I can't say it enough! The bottom portion of the dress is my favorite style going right now! THE COLOR! Kate owns a Camilla Wickstead dress that she wore to a garden party one year and I have always loved the pink look on her! Let me NOT forget though, those bubble accessories you paired the dress with! Little champagne bubbles which is representative of a night out. I think this style of dress is not something we have seen her in before and it is young, chic and elegant. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this outfit! The Southern girl brought it! Way to go sista!

  10. Wow, there is nothing better than glittering evening looks! I would love to see Kate attend the next Bond premiere with William on her one arm and Daniel Craig on the other ;)

    There are plenty of gorgeous looks here, but I have to say my favourite is probably Sonja from Bavaria's. I love the colour combination of rosé and bordeaux and the dress is so stunning!

    But I also love all the other looks, and how creative everyone got with accessoires and jewellery. And the array of beautiful colours! Kate would look ao pretty in all of them, but especially in emerald and purple.

    What a lovely surprise, I was not expecting the Bond looks yet! And wow, what a visual treat. I just love seeing all the glamorous gowns and glittering jewels.

    A few things that caught my eye:

    FL Lady: the dress is really pretty, and considering it's Jenny P, I could really imagine Kate in it!

    Sofy: your gown reminds me of a majestic peacock!

    Helen in Indiana: the swarovski jewelry you picked is adorable!

    Anon15: wow, Kate would look stunning in purple (and I love the full skirt)!

    Julia/Leo from Leominster: the crystal embroidery is so delicate & lovely; and the cut and length of the gown somehow gives it a Golden 20s vibe for me!

    Imqrious2: stunning gown, emerald looks so good on Kate and the camera clutch is perfect for a movie premiere!

    Maria in Germany: the gown is breathtaking, I love the roses!

    Couch Potato: the open back and deep neckline add just the right amount of sex appeal for a 007 movie premiere! (And Kate would look great in dark red)

    Courtney from NC: the fluffy dress and delicate lilac colour would make Kate look like a fairy! And the clutch matches peferctly

    If Kate had a look at this page, she would neber have to worry again once about what to wear - just buy everything for one of the looks suggested here (she can afford it) and voilà - she would make front pages for her sophisticated look :)

  12. First and foremost: a big ‘Thank you’ to our host, Charlotte. You are amazing! I cannot imagine the time and care you invested to stage this dress-up fashion show and to display each and every entry to the best of its potential! You are awesome!

    Second and equally foremost: to the creators of these breathtaking outfits a deep, deep bow of admiration! The balance of princess-y, elegance, glamour, playful, and modern is on the spot and utterly Duchess Kate! A feast for the eyes which could only be topped by the Duchess presenting the outfit you’ve styled.

    In the category of soft princess-y elegance I fell in love with the styles proposed by
    FL Lady,
    Julia from Leominster (that dress! those shoes!),
    Molly Claire (awesome dress and shoes),
    Imqrious2 (oh my, those earrings were made for that dress for sure!),
    Marci in Utah (the combination of the aquamarines with the petrol dress: striking),
    Caravino (this dress is a dreamy cloud, indeed),
    Siddhii (I looked at this dress but could not find a way to style it: your choices are spot on lovely), and
    Courtney from NC (those jewels and shoes – the perfect match to the dress!)
    ~~~ *big, dreamy sigh*
    Then there’s the sleek, modern Duchess styled by
    Phyl (the dress + earring combination is fantastic!),
    Helen in Indiana (that dress! Those colors!),
    Anon 15 (everything … and I desperately crave those earrings!),
    Rebecca – Sweden (Love! It!),
    Kate (that dress in that color is simply ... perfect),
    Melissa, UK and Hannah (the Duchess needs that dress, urgently),
    Couch Potato (that combination of burgundy and silver/shimmer – beautiful), and
    Nicole (Oh! Yeah! Please!),
    ~~~ *big wistful sigh*

    Not to forget the glamorous princess-y Duchess envisioned by Silverdiver and Sofy (both visions in green, and those emeralds …)
    ~~~ *double-sigh!*
    My favorite, though, because it’s edgy on top of all of the above -and it’s black, and it glitters, and has diamonds all of which I simply adore- is the look styled by Joanne in CA ...
    ~~~ *swoons*

    6. CuriousKat, I don't think it's the topic; I think it's the reactions to the topic that gets it in the "not talk about" category. Charlotte can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't really think she's averse to any conversation as long as it's constructive and/or reasonable. And we still need to do katHare Kouture!!! I'm dead serious.

      Anyway, I think it's the reactions from some people. And Rosman, welcome to the club. I've had comments deleted too. Sometimes they're deleted in a thread like ours were here. And sometimes they've been deleted because someone went ballistic over them and so mine had to go too. That's the way it goes on a blog where some people have pretty strong opinions.

      Charlotte said a while back that the stuff she deals with behind the scenes would grow hair on all our chests. There was one time she got on and basically told someone not to post here any more after she received a lot of comments from that person personally insulting not just her and the posters, but also her husband and marriage. I mean who'd put up with all that just for fun, which she does.

      So I don't take it personally if a comment disappears. Most of the time it's because someone else was an a*****le about it.

    Hi Charlotte, I actually chose the Judith Leiber Faceted Box Clutch in the silver cobalt blue, not the red. I don't know if it's too late to change it. I enjoyed seeing all the other looks. Kate would look stellar in any one of them. I think Rebecca from Sweden's and Silverdiver's looks are very Kate- sleek, impeccably tailored, elegant and dramatic.

  20. Thank you all of you who liked the style I posted.

    The earrings Kate wore ( photo above with James Bond) were a gift from William according to daily mail account of her jewellery collection.

    UK is enviable to reach out to primary school students in addressing "mental health conversation". It will be as good as the counselors expertise. It is a delicate balance. From Kate's speech, " respond appropriately" / sometimes it is easier to discuss "mental health" with adults than children ( I hope child Psychologists are in the mix of experts to support and screen over the average school counselors who will do the talking with the child.

  21. Phyl - I love the color of that Mouret gown. It is so sleek and your accessories work perfectly.

    Silverdiver - That gown would enhance Kate's figure without being over the top. The necklace is so lovely. Well done!

    FL Lady - that gown reminds of her other Packham of the same color that she has worn several times but elevated several notches. Love it.

    Sofy - The day she wears this label I will do a happy dance. The color would work beautifully with Kate's complexion.

    Helen - I could see one of the Bond ladies wearing this in the movie. It would be a great match for the occasion.

    Anon 15 - adore everything about this look.

    Rebecca - I loved this look when you posted the links and I love it still. So classic!

    Kate - She would be drop dead gorgeous in this gown. Very much the lady in red.

    Sonja - I still can very much see Kate in this dress. Still love it.

    April Girls - I think Kate could pull this off but her attitude would need to perk up so she could own the look. Queen Maxima wore a jumpsuit the other night and looking amazing.

    Julia - So classy and so in line with whour she is and what she represents. I wish she'd choose printed accessorieslike this clutch.

    Melissa and Hannah - this dress is another lady in red look. She'd be stunning. I love the accessaccessories you both chose.

    Molly Claire - the premiere is totally the place for this kind of gown. Love that you chose accessories that are different colors.

    Imqurious2 - I have loved this gown since I saw it right after it came out. But I like so many Saab looks. I'd love to see this on Kate.

    The rest in next post!

    Couch Potato - this dress is gorgeous! Love the front low neck, and love the keyhole back…so pretty and perfect for a premiere. Love how you teamed it with silver and sparkle accessories.

    Miol Mor - very pretty…I love the sparkle with the shoe and purse, but I really liked how you picked out a statement piece for her necklace. It really draws your eye to it. Nicely done.

    Andrea from New York - love the little peep at the bottom of the dress so you can see those pretty shoes. Love the earrings.

    Thank you Charlotte for all your hard work, and a great post as always.

  23. Maria - Kate likes to wear printed dresses so I can totally see her in this. Love those earrings.

    Marci - YES! Yes to all of it, especially the aquamarine parure.

    Sunny - another printed dresses I could see Kate in. I covet that clutch.

    Joanne - that dress would sparkle so much with all the flash bulbs going off. Love the shoes!

    Couch potato - now that is a gown that would frame the Nyzam necklace perfectly. The clutch is pretty snazzy.

    Miol Mor - this is one of very few dresses that would work with the opals. Not a big fan of opals but here they'd work.

    Nicole - I'm suffering a wee bit of lace fatigue nut this is SPECTACULAR! Would love to see Kate in this dress.

    Caravino - this is so Kate. It's very feminine and floaty. I could also see Mette Merit from Norway in this dress.

    Siddhii - another gown that would sparkle like mad with the flash bulbs going off. Love the one shoulder.

    Andrea - love this look and these colors. That neckline would be great on Kate.

    I honestly forgot the dress i finally went with. But I still love this soo much.

  24. Wow! So many fantastic looks! The 'Style Kate' posts are a big part of why I love this blog so much. Thank you for indulging us, Charlotte :)
    Phyl & Anon15, purple is my fave colour on Kate - she should wear it more often! I love the sleek Roland Mouret & the Monique Lhuillier is superb with those amethyst earrings.
    Green is another lovely colour on Kate. Silverdiver, that JP dress is gorgeous & I love the v-neck & the stunning emerald jewellery. I also love the green sparkly choices from Sofy & Imqrious2.
    Rebecca- love your choice & the 50s vibe. It's a striking look & the colour matches her sapphire engagement ring :)
    Sonja from Bavaria - wow! This is a dress fit for a queen :) I love the colour & the pleats.
    April Girl - that Reiss jumpsuit is awesome!
    Julia & Leo: I've always wanted to see Kate in jade green for an evening event. This dress ticks all the boxes - feminine, sparkly & I like the interesting cut of the skirt.
    Maria in Germany, I don't think we've seen Kate in Zuhair Murad before. This dress is very pretty.
    Marci - you picked one of my favourite dresses that Kate has ever worn! I'd love to see it worn with the Aquamarine parure.
    Courtney from NC, I think your outfit gets my #1 vote, that is a truly beautiful gown. I especially like the ruffles on the skirt & the gorgeous accessories.
    Well done to everyone! You all did a fantastic job :)

  25. First, I forgot to thank the person that asked about me dealing with Irma! My only alibi is I was so dumb-struck with all the beautiful dresses my manner were "gone with the wind". Thank you for thinking of me and all others enduring this season's hurricanes.

    But, back to the topic - I once again am just amazed at the looks people here can put together. I feel like I am at a high-end fashion show with friends without having to leave my house. So many of you have eyes for making things look just right and making them look Kate like although 1-2 of the designs showed a bit more than Kate usually bares.

    And the jewels! I don't remember seeing the opals before and I have spent hours looking at the Queen's jewels at various sites. I can't seem to get enough of jewelry looking so I am off to read about opals.

    Prayers please for those facing yet another hurricane & thank you Charlotte for this blog. I really think Kate named her daughter after you. ;-)

    Anon 15, that look is off the charts. I love everything about it.

    Julia, I love the elegant sexy factor of the gown you selected. Beautiful!

    Courtney, don't we wish Kate would show up in a number like this! I think it says, "I'm a princess and I can have a bit of fun too!" I do like the feminine ruffles.

    FL lady, that is sooo Kate. I love the color and feminine feel of the gown.

    Melissa, UK, you have me thinking about Diana. Needless to say, I love the look.

    Joanne in CA, sexy and stunning! :-)

    Sonja from Bavaria, I could absolutely see Kate wearing your gown and accessories. It has her fingerprints all over it.

  27. I’ve always loved evening gowns. This is so much fun for me. A few quick comments:
    - Julia from Leominster: Such a pretty and delicate-looking dress. Very elegant and refined. I also love the Queen’s opal earrings… and the butterfly clutch!
    - Sunny: I like the v-neckline in the back of the dress.
    - Couch Potato: What a gorgeous shade of red! I love it. I also like the cut-out back.
    - Andrea from New York: What pretty shades of blue. I love them all!
    - Sofy: A stunning shade of green! This color would really bring out Kate’s eyes. I also think Kate should wear more strapless styles.
    - Imqrious2: This is my favorite dress. This gorgeous shade of green would look absolutely beautiful on Kate!! And the emerald, sapphire and diamond earrings are delicate and very unique. A stunning combination.

  28. Not quite sure what happened to comments and if one of mine was lost - but I will cautiously try and comment on fashions.

    Phyl - a beautiful colour for the gown in a style Kate should be very comfortable with - love the earrings and nice to include Santa Maria Novella - heaven, heaven, heaven

    Silverdiver - the Dehli Dubar is having a heart attack about now at the idea of being paired with that sexy green gown - and I love it!! I would love to see some of these old warhorse jewels that have been placed against beaded white satin for decades come to life with sharp and sexy looks.

    Fl Girl - hope you are all right after Irma - in my mind, it's hard to go wrong with Packham and this is a beautiful gown that would look wonderful on Kate - similar to a blue lace with a bare back Diana wore that I loved - thought daring at the time. I like the jewels you paired with it - Kate hasn't been easy in fiddly gems - I think these pieces would be an ideal loan.

    Sofy - Green is Kate's colour - no question - this would be a beautiful and bold look for Kate - could she manage it? I'd love to see the Godman worn.

    Helen from Indiana - I have a great weakness for delicate shades of pink - so I love this gown and think it would be in Kate's comfort zone. The flash of red accessories livens it up perfectly for a Bond film. I like the crystal necklace with it.

    Anon 15 - A wonderfully dramatic look - I've always thought purple would be an excellent colour on Kate and have mourned too much the queen or queen mum disposing of Queen Mary's amethyst tiara - such a crime for it would have been lovely on Kate.

    Rebecca from Sweden - This gown fits Kate very well - it would look most elegant. (I'm not surprised knowing your generosity of spirit that you chose a very safe look for Kate.) I love that you chose sapphire jewellery from the Queen, Queen Mum and Diana and the appearance of Diana's necklace (which with its importance should be worn by Kate and not Harry's future wife, unless a loan) would be a very exciting event.

    Kate - a stunning red gown that our Kate would look marvellous in - nicely paired with some of her existing accessories.

  29. I LOVE glittering ballgowns and accessories, so this is SUCH a treat for me - you have ALL done exceptional work here, thank you so much for taking the time!! And thank you, Charlotte, for taking the (certainly huge amount of) time to put it all together!!!
    As a TOTAL violet/purple/lavender/lilac fan (have always been-will always be, can´t help it, sigh... ;-))) ) it was ANON 15´s gown that made me instantly swoon.... it is PERFECT! I love the earrings, too! I would have probably chosen my all-time favourites, the "lavender Kiki" earrings, but not because I don´t like Anon 15´s choice, just because I love them so much! ;-))
    Joanne in California: Your choice is EXQUISITE!! But is it just me and my "old" eyes - or is the name of the designer missing? I would love to know who designed this stunner! The earrings - drop dead gorgeous, I have no other words for them!
    And another "lavender darling" for me to savour: Courtney from NC!! It´s beautiful... simply beautiful.. this gown... sigh... ;-)) I love the jewellry! It´s some "serious bling", but the design is rather understated, a combination I absolutely adore. And I love the clutch, the colours match the gown perfectly, and it´s got this youthful, fresh vibe...
    Ladies, you´ve spoiled us all with your choices, each and every one of you shown in this post, honestly...

  30. Part 2 - I'm doing this in small batches to avoid loss.

    Sonja from Bavaria - I love Talbot Runof and was hoping Kate might wear a gown from that collection when she was in Germany (along with Escada) This is truly a beautiful gown - rich and romantic - I love it.

    April Girl - Uncharted territory indeed! I'm not the greatest fan of jumpsuits (although I use to own one I wore often - how inconsistent is that!) but the tailored style of this one with the soft colour makes it a winner for me - especially with those earrings - So why not - Bond would be the perfect place for such a step-out. Would love to see Kate wear Mary's bracelets.

    Leo I love you but still can't believe you chose such a quiet gown! After over thirty years, you still surprise me.

    Melissa from UK - This would be a fabulous Bond choice and a very popular one - daring yet elegant. It would be amazing to see Kate in those earrings - but would it be allowed!

    Molly Claire - I saw this gown at one point and fell hard for it so I would love to see Kate wear it - it's just amazingly beautiful. I like your choice of jewellery too - a pair of earrings from a parure I think would be better on Kate than the queen and Diana's bracelet - this gown would truly sparkle in the cameras' flashes.

    Imqrious2 - Another gorgeous green gown - with dazzling diamante. You picked the most fabulous accessories - I love that bag - it would be so clever!! The earrings are stunning too and perfect for that gown.

    Hannah - that truly is a great gown and I love how you've styled it too - always interesting to see the different accessories chosen with the same gown - heaps of imagination.

    Maria in Germany - a beautiful, dramatic but truly wearable gown for Kate - but can Victoria's earrings be worn by anyone other than the queen? No matter! They would be fantastic with this dress - I love the roses - someday it might just work with the queen's problematic ruby tiara. And I would love to see Kate in Murad.

    Marci in Utah - It's always great to see someone choose a gown to be reused - and this is such a lovely one - it would give it new life to pair it with the queen's aquamarines - which are surprisingly dark in colour - I'd love to see Kate have use of them - as long as the necklace was lengthened for her - a problem with previous loans as the queen is tiny and wears her necklaces very short - I've been amazed how small they are in exhibits.

    Leo's wanting me - I'll finish up soon with the final wonderful choices.

  32. Part 3

    Sunny - Forget Kate! Julia would love this gown! Monique Lhuillier does wonderful things and I would get so much use from this beautiful contrast gown - it would be a splurge for the bag and those earrings but why not! Of course, I'm dreaming, and Kate would look fabulous in it with her dark hair.

    Joanne in Ca. Wow! Kate would look pure Bond girl in this dramatic black gown - along with those accessories, all she would need is Vesper's Santa Maria Novella perfume.

    Couch Potato - I believe you've come up with it - I've wondered if there was a gown Kate could wear that would suit the fiddly Nizam necklace if it were properly lengthened - the petrol she wore it with didn't suit it at all - but I think this red lace - which picks up the details - and the close but deep neckline would be magnificent with it. The elaborate cut-outs and the diamante bag would really set it off. A gorgeous gown too.

    Miol Mor - Like Sunny - you've done it too. The queen is never going to wear that fabulous opal necklace and I've long hoped Kate would (and used the earrings) but wondered what gown would work. This sleek white gown with the deep neckline Kate has shown she's comfortable with would be just right and lovely. The accessories are perfect with your usual good eye and I would love to see Kate embrace Ralph and Russo.

    Nicole - Oscar de la Renta is always marvellous - and this is an amazing gown - I love how the skirt dips up to show the shoes - and a great pair - and the earrings would really finish the look. It would be a bold departure for Kate but would be fun to see her do it.

    Caravino - After seeing what Kate chose for the Baftas and what she has been wearing recently - I think she would be so happy in this pretty Valentino gown. It would be lovely for a tour of Italy too.

    Siddhii - This elegant Mouret gown would be a great British look for Kate - and the idea of choosing jewellery that Diana wore to a premiere is an inspired one (but not sure Kate can wear the POW feather quite yet.) But what about the earrings Diana wore with her Hachi gown to the Octopussy premiere? - and I believe she may also have worn that same bracelet you chose.

    Andrea from New York - I love Carolina Herrera for royals and this blue gown is simply beautiful and an excellent balance of glamour and restraint for Kate - your choice of accessories is perfect - what a lovely shade of blue - the off shoulders with no necklace is a look Kate loves.

    Courtney from NC -Leo would completely sympathise with your hubby and was grumbling about the time I was spending on holiday looking at gowns and how I had gone off topic with my love of tiaras - so that's why I got him involved. They do think we're mad! I love this fantasy gown - the shade is lavender is one we all loved on Kate in Germany - again Monique Lhuillier who is a designer I hope Kate finds since she's shown a willingness to go abroad - and those dazzling diamonds would make for such a look - every detail is perfect right down to that bag. It was definitely worth the time you spent - it is so hard to choose.

    And now my hubby is giving me the eye - so I'll just say well done to all and look forward to our next batch of gowns.

My grandson just started high school and the first week of school they had a series of mini-lectures on diabetes, flu season and viruses (HPV), dangers of social media, and the importance of community based projects; but there wasn't anything on mental health. A lecture or film on mental health would be a very worthy way to start the dialogue, especially at such a pivotal age as high school. Great idea Zora, thanks for the suggestion. cc

  36. My original comment seems to be lost. (I don't remember that it was part of a thread, but maybe it started one.) I began that comment with "Wow!" And I went on to say that there are years of ideas here for Kate. I love the drama of these styles. I've noticed, too, that our designers are more aware now than we were two years ago of Kate's own style and preferences. And there's the royal jewelry, much more judiciously used here. Kate wears either her own pieces or occasional selections from the vaults that are the Queen's personal property. Someday she'll have the jewels that are set aside for queens to wear. (Which is why Diana's collection may be reserved for Harry's wife.) Anyway, wonderful work, everyone!

  37. What lovely, lovely choices here! I think my new favorite is Sonja from Bavaria's choice, but every one of them is a treat for the eyes. In looking over other choices, I would now revise my own to eliminate wearing the necklace from the aquamarine parure, as I think a simpler look might be better for that already-elaborate Jenny Packham dress. Still, if she wanted to wear the necklace too, I would never object!

    The video was very well done. Kate is getting better at speaking, and I'm sure with more practice she will do these kinds of introductions very well. I agree that she needed someone in the room to whom she could appear to be speaking, as it would have helped with the delivery.

  39. Charlotte, what a fast turn going from the Royal Ascot looks to these fabulous gowns. Thank you.

    I was so looking forward to the hats for the Royal Ascot styling and of course now, I'm so curious as to the jewelry everyone chose. So I'm starting my comments with favorites:

    Silverdiver and Sofy - the emeralds are spectacular, thanks for selecting those. We've seen Kate in Emerald earrings but I'd love to see either of those necklaces.

    Rebecca - Diana had beautiful sapphire jewelry and the Saudi Sapphire was a favorite. I wonder if Diana had so many sapphire pieces because of her blue eyes or the folks that gifted the jewelry.

    Julia and Miol Mor - those Opals! Spectacular and just think the set would go with anything and everything.

    Marci in Utah - I would love to see Kate repeat that teal Packham gown but if she ever gets to wear The Queen's Brazilian Aquamarine Parure - she must wear something new. No doubt.

    Molly Claire - The Queen's ruby and Diamond earrings are a great choice for the gown you choose. Its super unique. I can see Kate wearing that dress at some point.

    Carovino - what a pretty dress the Valentino is. Again, I could see Kate wearing this dress and appreciate that you choose something so different.

    I will say, lots of one shoulder gowns seems to be a trend. Lots of sparkle - therefore lots of fun. Thanks everyone!

  42. I agree about those choices, Paola. At the top for me is either Anon 15 or Melissa UK. Probably Kate would need to substitute the ruby earrings she wore in Poland, since I think Queen Victoria's are part of the jewels reserved for queens, but that would be fine. Those are all such clear, dramatic looks.

  43. There are sets and styles in each display which are fabulous. For now, these four are the following.

    Kate has another May baby, or just for her daughter birth stone/ in emerald. She is all princessly and in abundance of material and family blessings. It is all glamour and beautiful precious stones, full and complete image of happiness and wholesomeness. It is an elegantly beautiful dress with all its accessories. I want it for myself too. Style by Sofy

    And then, there is a merry year, all in good spirit, festive, happy and so joyful. The media is noticing, and photographers are clicking away delighted with the image. Style by Courtney from North Carolina

    The following year, she goes, “Good Evening Mr. Bond”. Kate is dressed to “kill” with a Premier impact, and it is Bond time. It is an appealingly bold, daring and dramatic presentation for a date with Bond. Good thing she has her prince on her arms. Style by Joanne in CA

    It is another year. The Bond Premier after Kate had her baby / the alluring and beautifully attired elegant Duchess had arrived, all complete. Youthful appearance, yet fitting her age group, and Kate might add some lite lining for the side exposure. Style by Imqrious2

    I think I have Kate have babies two different years in the future ( both years in green/ well may be one for her daughter, and one for the one to come

    1. Hi Anon 15 ~ Thank you so much for your most kind words! Wouldn't aquamarines be fitting, though :-) Alas, it's opals - of a most adorable color spectrum flowing from green based (if you were to check the Order of Splendor picture) to the blue based shown ...

    2. Miol Mor,
      You are very welcome the color kind of passes for aquamarine, in closer inspection, it is another world. What a beautiful stone/ it looks heavier than aquamarine. It is incredible actually the subtle multi-color nature of the precious opal you have selected. I knew there was something special about it, and yet also in a rush just matched it with color of aquamarine. I appreciate the fact that you informed me of its details.

    3. This seems to be the closest in color to yours. I deliberately did not read all the details of each display, designers and prices. The reason is to reflect on the image, the way I found them, and later go back and know about the details. That is saved for other times. Here, it states, you selected the queen’s set, very interesting to find out. The queen's set obviously is most likely the most genuine. The link I posted, the large one looks like some element from the universe/ almost moon like ( well, they said moon is dust? I wonder what Venus looks like up close)

      The Andamooka Opal in the Queen's necklace has a whooping 203 carats and thus weights 40.6 g! I have no idea as to which of the gemstones is 'heavier' (both are minerals) ie. whether an aquamarine of the same carat weight would be bigger or smaller ... The world of nature is captivatingly amazing. It is magical, and that is why some precious stones as parts of nature are marvelous. More and more I am appreciating your complete set. Opal seems to include different shades of color in its elements making it interesting to match with different outfits. White is a good canvas to let it be as it comes. You did an excellent job, and even better, with the knowledge of the product.

      You are right about the queen wearing “Andamooka Opal in the Queen's necklace” photo in black and white. I couldn’t find her image in color wearing the opal set. I hope Kate will wear the set showing them as they are, in their natural color (color photo). The dress will look fabulous on Kate, and it looks in her sphere of taste.

  45. Phil/ You have created an impressive poster board for “The duchess’s date with Bond”. The heel of that shoe talks. The geometric angle neckline of the dress fits, and the purple is beautiful.

    Silver Diver/ beautifully coordinated, edgy and completes presentation. You chose an interesting necklace befitting the neckline, the shoes are wonders.

    FL Lady / You know Kate - that dress is the kind she will most likely wear for such occasions. It flows so beautifully. The shoes are delightfully elegant. The black over navy blue is mysteriously artistic. The clutch looks between black and dark blue. It is the kind of image which makes you think.

    Helen in Indiana /There is something millennium about this image, a unique dress picked up by the red and mellowed by the jewelry/ an interesting balance.

    -Anon15 / I will remember those earrings forever/ love them. They are sold by antique estate for unspecified amount to some anonymous. I think the original owner had them in the 1930s. Whoever had them or bought them, please let us know. I thought my display will greet Mr. Bond. Most likely Joanne in CA had outdone it.

    Rebecca from Sweden / Impeccable, regal and delightfully coordinated dark blue and white.

  47. Siddhi / A beautiful set under the stars, adorned by pearls.

    Caravino/ Gracefully Kate

    Kate/ Catherine in RED well accessorized, and it is a Bond evening.

    Couch Potato / The necklace complement the neckline fittingly. Kate’s lace in deep RED and the front style is very nice.

    Sunny/ It is a delicately feminine and innocent image. The earrings are unique, look like acorn and a statement pair, lively and artistic pair which makes you think.

    Marci in Utah/ My favorite Kate’s dress found the perfect accessories well-coordinated with the shoes.

    Maria in Germany/ This is simply beautifully striking and perfectly coordinated presentation.

    Hannah/ Fashionable RED dress, open back, and open heel sandals / another possibility for Bond?

    -Molly Claire/ Eye catching dress with fantastic shoes, and completed with all the details.

    -Melissa UK/ another “Bond meets Duchess” in RED nicely accessorized. It is a pleasant red.

    -Julia / Once again, you have an eye for uncommon color shoes which look elegantly coordinated with the dress. The colors of the dress and the shoes are pleasant, and there is something decent with the layers of the dress. The earrings are unique pair highlighted by the color of the butterfly/ all different and unique.

    -April Girl/ If Kate wears pants/suits, this is it, the belt and the bracelets worked out well too.

    Sonja from Bavaria / The lovely color of the dress, shoes and clutch highlighted by the clutch is interesting. There is a formal presentation about the dress.

    -Andrea from New York /The way you highlighted the whole look (dark and light blue) with those earrings is fantastic. You brought that color combination to life. The shoes and clutch are a wonderful set.

    Charlotte-once again, you did a an excellent job of arranging the displays in a way they can be more appreciated. I especially Thank you for putting the shoes heels closer to the earrings ( that was the proportion I had in mind).

  48. Nicole/ Kate’s lace is in fashionable, bold contrast, edgy and possible for Bond Night. The shoes are very nice which the front of the dress allows them to be visible. The front hem of the dress makes good shoes worth its money.

  50. What a wonderful selection of gowns I just hope is well enough to attend some functions & maybe takes note of the lovely ideas. I liked so many so decided not to comment individually.
    I have mixed views on Kate being pregnant again in view of how much she suffers she has two lovely children and knowing a friend who also suffered the same who had two children and had a third which affected her long term health I wish Kate had not risked it however I pray she comes through it O.K.
    William has certainly upped his work load and didn't appear the least bit bothered that Kate was very sick at home on his visit to Liverpool I thought his comment that Kate was very well was somewhat stupid a remark that she was improving would have been more appropriate if true.
    Reading the court circular last week I noticed William had only had an engagement on Tuesday nothing for the rest of the week. In my naivety I thought he had had a few days off to be with Kate seeing todays paper I see how wrong I was I am utterly disgusted that he has just spent 4 days in Scotland to go to a major Gala Ball no doubt making the most of it with many attractive women at Balmoral and I expect some shooting on the Saturday. He is photographed accompanying the Queen to Church on Sunday. Once again he has shown he is not the faithful loving caring husband I and I am sure many others hoped he would be for his very loyal and loving wife I wonder what Kate's parents think of his uncaring self centred attitude. I think he genuinely does love and care for his children but sadly has not got the same deep feelings for Kate. I notice this week he has a very full week of engagements every day except today so he won't have to spend much time with Kate!!
    I have my doubts that Kate will be at the function on oct. 10th I think KP were just confirming the engagement as per Invitation however I very much hope I am wrong on that assumption.
