Our Stylists' Submissions for the Dutch State Banquet (Part 2)

Good evening! We're back with Part 2 of our stylists' submissions for the Dutch State banquet in October. Once again, there's an array of stunning, glittering gowns and treasures from Her Majesty's jewel vault. It's been tremendous fun to see the choice of tiaras and accessories, and very interesting to see how those who chose the same gowns accessorised them differently adding their own twist. Tonight's post included the most popular gown of this year's styling season and drool-worthy looks perfect for a white-tie event.

Carlie - Like Caroline and Beth, Carlie instantly fell in love with the shimmering tulle Jenny Packham gown from the SS19 Collection. Carlie styled it with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, Jimmy Choo Romy Platinum and Flamingo Ice Glitter Dégradé Fabric Pointy Toe Pumps and the matching Celeste clutch. Kate's Kiki morganite and diamond earrings and the Queen's Diamond Quatrefoil bracelet complete the look.

Robin Wright - In a sartorial nod to the Netherlands, Robin chose an embellished orange Jenny Packham gown. The product description has a royal connection: "In 1958, Queen Elizabeth banned debutante balls in the UK, and this break with long-held tradition inspired Jenny Packham to give her glamorous gowns an edge for Pre-Fall '17 - this style has tiger stripe tulle inserts." It's teamed with Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara, the Queen's Wedding Gift Bracelet, The Greville Chandelier earrings, a gold clutch and gold Louboutin heels.

Sonja from Bavaria - We have the Jenny Packham Scalloped Beaded Illusion Evening Top and a Tulle Skirt with a ribbon belt. The look is styled with Kate's Packham Casa clutch, LK Bennett Floret pumps and Queen Mary's Chain Link Bracelet. Sonja concluded with: "I know this will turn out to be a more unpopular choice, but I would have Kate wear the Cartier Halo tiara again. While many here are probably going for the more eye-catching, bigger tiaras, I would love to see her wedding tiara again, with different hairstyles."

Lacy in L.A. - "Though I pondered the sartorial diplomacy of orange, it just didn't seem to fit Kate's pattern of color. Instead, I settled on a regal midnight blue for evening gown perfection." The satin Reem Acra Draped Off-The-Shoulder gown would be worn with the necklace from the Queen's Dubai Looped Sapphire Demi-Parure, Queen Mary's Diamond Bar Choker Bracelet and Jimmy Choo Romy Crystal Starburst pumps. "The crowning glory was truly the hardest part of this styling, as tiaras seem so personal to the wearer. So, though I know full well that the Queen wore this very tiara to a Diplomatic Reception two years prior, I'm letting my sapphire heart rule over my head. Such a stunning piece requires a sleek updo. I favor Kate's hair pulled away from her forehead, so I'd like to see a similar style to the one she wore at the 2012 London Olympics gala. The makeup with this look was stunning as well! And, because life is short, my jaw would drop straight to the floor if Kate showcased the aforementioned jewels atop a pair of beautiful, silk white gloves."

Maria in Germany - "Since Maxima will probably go bold for this - her style is very colourful and with lots of prints, Kate should go bold as well." A floral evening dress with a silk train by Marchesa is styled with Reiss Athena Sandals, Rose Gold, Morganite and Diamond Earrings, the delicate Miadora bracelet and Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara.

Danielle - Danielle would love to see the Duchess wear Oscar de la Renta's Embellished Wool-Blend Midi Dress. The bold orange hue is a nod to the Netherlands. The dress is intricately detailed with shimmering black details. It's accessorised with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, Jimmy Choo Lancer pumps in black suede, Kiki McDonough Eden Citrine Flower earrings and the Bottega Veneta Knot clutch.

DM - The dusty pink Reem Acra satin gown with a crismon bow is described as "It's no wonder the designer's creations are such a hit on the red carpet. Impeccably cut from lustrous dusty-pink satin, it's darted at the bodice to highlight your waist before flaring out to a full, floor-sweeping skirt that's underpinned with layers of mesh to hold its shape." It's styled with the Bottega Veneta Knot clutch, Gianvito Rossi Portofino Sandals, Kate's wedding day earrings, the Queen's Quatrefoil bracelet and the Cartier Halo Tiara.

German Girl - "I picked a gorgeous orange Monique Lhuillier gown. It caught my eye because the colour is really unusual, but I am sure it would look so pretty with Kate's hair colour! Also, it is the official colour of the royal house of Orange and associated with the Netherlands." The strapless embroidered gown is teamed with orange pumps, a new designer pearl necklace with diamonds and the Asos Co-Ord clutch. "And I know that this is not a realistic tiara choice for Kate at all, because it belongs to Princess Alexandra and she probably won't grant others access to it, but I would love to see Kate in the Ogilvy tiara! It is such a beautiful and delicate piece and since this is design your dream look, I can wish for anything."

Little Miss Sunshine - "I am going for a dreamy look with floral appliques in lavender and silver hues." We have the Jovani 3D Flower Applique grey gown with a v neck and embellished belt detail. It's accessorised with the Queen's Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings, Jimmy Choo Emmie clutch and Kate's Gianvito Rossi Mila pumps. The look is completed with Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau, most recently worn by the Duchess of Sussex on her wedding day. Little Miss Sunshine adds: "In my imagination, Kate lets Meghan wear her wedding tiara and vice versa."

Couch Potato - A Temperley London gown described as "The opal-hued Jewellery Show Dress is the Winter '17 collection's most standout evening gown. With flared bracelet-length sleeves, the dress opens into a full panelled organza skirt. Inspired by a delicate antique fan, the intricate artwork uses fine bugle beads, folded organza flowers, crystals and stitchwork" would be worn with the Lotus Flower Tiara, a bronze Kotur clutch, Ralph & Russo Eden pumps and smoky quartz earrings.

Humphreys Girl - Humphreys Girl would love to see Kate wearing the Zuhair Murad Velvet-Trimmed Embrodiered Point D'esprit gown. It's intricately embroidered with multicolored flowers that look as if they're cascading to the floor. It's styled with Jimmy Choo Matilda Slingback pumps, the Lotus Flower Tiara, the Duchess of Teck earrings and an updo.

FLUSA Lady - Jenny Packham's sleeveless black Stella gown with sparkling embellishment from the AW18 Collection is styled with Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara, the Queen's Wedding Gift Bracelet and the diamond chandelier earrings Kate has worn on multiple occasions.

PegJ - "I chose an Erdem gown from the pre-spring 2019 collection, the floral print includes tulips -  a nod to the Netherlands. It's paired with the Queen Mothers Cartier quintet bracelets, the Cartier Halo tiara and Kiki grace citrine and diamond round drop earrings."

Crowns Royalty - The Jenny Packham Blanche Platinum gown from the AW18 collection is styled with the Delhi Durbar necklace and matching emerald and diamond earrings from the parure. The Lotus Flower Tiara, a McQueen clutch and Jimmy Choo Romy pumps finish off the look.

Courtney from NC - "Dress: it is from designer Romona Keveza who Kate hasn't worn but this color is one she has worn more than once before and she wears it well. It isn't super flashy but that works for two reasons. The first is that she isn't going to be the center of attention with two much loved queens there, especially since Queen Maxima is an amazing state dinner dresser. Secondly it serves as a canvas for the most important part of her look: the jewels! The bodice would need a few slight adjustments to make it State Dinner appropriate and hopefully to work better with a sash and order." The gown is styled with Steve Madden Satire Metallic sandals, the McQueen Britannia clutch in silver, the emerald and diamond necklace Kate wore to the BAFTAs, the emerald jewels the Duchess wore in New York and Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara. To attach an order sash the Scroll Cambridge Emerald brooch is included. An updo and dramatic eye make up look complete Courtney's ensemble.

Erin NZ - Erin is one of many participating in 'Styling Kate' this year. She shared the following on her look: "For Kate’s dress, I have chosen the Jovani navy satin dress to set off the gorgeous King George VI necklace (without the drop), earrings and bracelet. For her tiara, I would have loved to see her in Princess Margaret’s ‘Poltimore’ – it is simply beautiful – but I’m going to settle for the Delhi Durbar tiara. It looks tricky to wear – so we would need some decent hair – maybe a french roll. Accessorising with her satin Anya Hindmarch ‘Maud’ clutch to match the dress, and bespoke navy satin Christian Louboutin ‘Sandale du Desert’." Erin would have the gown designed by Jenny Packham.

Joanne in California - "I went outside the box for me and styled Kate in this pretty orange dress with a nod to the Netherlands." The Black Halo Off-The-Shoulder pleated gown is styled with the Cartier Halo Tiara, Roberto Coin earrings (with Kate's hair styled the same as the model), Roberto Coin 18K Yellow Gold Symphony Braided Bangle Bracelet with Diamonds, Jewel Badgley Mischka sandals and a metallic Lulu Townsend clutch.

Anonymous - The black sequin sparkling Jenny Packham Vela gown with cape detail from the AW18 Collection is styled with Jimmy Choo Romy Viola Mix Speckled Glitter Pointy Toe Pumps and the matching Celeste clutch. Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik Tiara, Queen Mary's Floret earrings and Queen Mary's Diamond Bar Choker bracelet complete the look.

Inez from Sweden - Inez chose a princessy Paolo Sebastian gown with a sweeping skirt to be worn with Gianvito Rossi 100 crystal-embellished metallic leather sandals, the Jimmy Choo Ellipse Navy and Silver Coarse Glitter Dégradé Clutch Bag, Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik Tiara, the Queen's Diamond Chandelier earrings and wedding gift bracelet.

Court - "I'm assuming Kate and William will get a Dutch order if they participate formally. I'm basing my dress off of that and keeping it simple since an orange sash clashes with everything." We have the silver glittering Jenny Packham Apolla gown teamed with the Cartier Halo Tiara, Christian Louboutin Choca sandals, the Queen's collet necklace, the Greville Chandelier earrings and the Diamond Art Deco clip brooch to secure the Order of the House of Orange.

S from E - S selected the Rickie Freeman for Teri Jon Beaded Lace & Tulle Gown featuring a round neckline with sweetheart illusion and sheer half sleeves with scalloped cuffs. It's styled with the Lotus Flower Tiara (with Kate's hair worn half up - half down), Diana's Collingwood pearl earrings, the L.K. Bennett Sledge pumps in dark pink and a delicately beaded ivory Emmy clutch.

Fiona, NW England - "I would love to see her wearing the beautiful royal blue beaded evening dress and matching clutch worn in India in 2016 along with the tiara, earrings and bracelet from the George VI and Modern Sapphire Set." The bespoke Packham gown is a reader favourite - Tiara Watcher also chose it for her submission.

Anna Cecilia - Anna Cecilia's dream look for the Dutch State Banquet is the Roland Mouret Marilla Gown. Described as: "With feminine, capped sleeves, the stunning Marilla dress offers an alternative take on a classic shape. An angular, asymmetric neckline hints at Mouret's love of unexpected tailoring, complemented by darting to the waist that nips in the silhouette. A feminine fishtail hemline and an exposed gold zipper make for the finishing touches." It would be accessorised with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, Diana's pearl and diamond earrings and Queen Mary's Bar Choker bracelet.

Faye M UK - It's officially the most popular gown from our stylists this year - Faye is the fourth reader to choose the shimmering tulle Jenny Packham Windemere gown. The embellished gown is styled with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara and Jimmy Choo Lancer Platinum Ice Dusty Glitter Pointy Toe Pumps.

SMP - "I decided to go for a very classic state banquet look with a white gown (that doesn't look to bride-like) and compliment its simple silhouette with dazzling jewellery." Like Anna Cecilia, SMP was taken by the feminine, capped sleeve Roland Mouret Marilla gown. "The simplistic yet elegant gown would showcase the Cambridge lovers knot tiara perfectly." The look is accessorised with the Queen's Quatrefoil bracelet, white patent pumps and a red clutch from Hobbs London.

Gaby, Malta - Gaby chose a cashmere blue Zuhair Murad gown. It is described as: "Inspired by classic childhood fairy tales, Zuhair Murad's Resort '18 gown is the perfect style for your special Cinderella moment. Made from layers of silk-blend organza, this light-blue design is intricately embellished with silver beads in a castle and star motif." Gaby notes the gown would have "some alterations as there is a castle beaded on the dress." It's styled with Jimmy Choo Emily sandals, The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, Queen Mary's Floret earrings, the Queen's Quatrefoil bracelet and Queen Mary's Bar Choker bracelet.

We'll be back with a bumper post for Part 3, featuring all the remaining submissions :)

Robin Wright - What a sharp look! Booth in the colour and the angular designs of the jewels!

Humphreys Girl - What a nice way to do floral.
    FLUSA Lady - Very stunning

  2. Hi Charlotte,

Tgank you for putting all of this together! I will be drooling all over this post and the pretty outfits tomorrow on my train commute :)

I am afraid that the website changed the picture / link I had provided...
I originally chose a light pink gown to match the pink shoes, I found an alternative link here:
    https://www.nudevotion.com/s/p/rickie-freeman-for-teri-jon-beaded-lace-tulle-gown-2/
Would it still be possible to change that? Thank you so much!

  4. Wow! It's quite something to see your very own choices on THE blog! :) After my first attempt at styling Kate, I think it's safe to say I'm hooked. Part of the allure is seeing how such different and equally resplendent looks are created for the Duchess. Some styles I could never even dream up! All are beautiful and kudos are in order to all the stylists, and of course to Charlotte for providing such a fun opportunity!

  5. Oh my goodness! So many sumptuous looks in this post. I love all of them ❤️ It’s too hard to pick a favourite! But something about the Zuhair Murad D’esprit gown speaks to me; with its “cascading” flowers & sleek design, I think Kate would look great in it & it would be an interesting choice for a state banquet. The Jenny Packham gowns Sonja from Bavaria & Crowns Royalty chose are definitely something I could see Kate wear to a state banquet. They would both look stunning on her & have a very “princess” vibe to them. I’m also struck by Couch Potato’s lovely Temperley London gown & S from E’s Rickie Freeman for Teri Jon tulle creation. Kate always looks fab in blue & both gowns have soft, delicate elements that would really set off a tiara & jewels. Such lovely choices from everyone. Just another note: I’d really love to see the Cartier Halo Tiara on Kate again. I hope that we do see it at some stage.

Part 1 of the comments for this post!
Carlie - I adored this dress with the aquamarines that someone else paired it with but I also love it with the
    pink accessories. Love choices.
Robin Wright - Orange is a tricky color in evening wear but this dress is stunning and you nailed the entire
    look.
Sonja From Bavaria - The Halo tiara works perfectly with the top part of the dress. A very feminine look!
    Really lovely.
Lacy in L.A. - Very regal look. Love the fun of the sparkly shoes and Kate always looks great in blue. I am
a sucker for opera length gloves.
Maria in Germany - Those earrings and the bracelet are a perfect match for the dress. Lovely.
Danielle - The beading on that dress is exquisite. Kate would look so lovely in your look.
DM - Love that you chose her wedding earrings and that you chose accessories that pop!
German Girl - This dress is so much fun and that tiara would be perfect for it. It is so much fun to dream up
these looks even if we use artistic license for a lot of the accessories!
Little Miss Sunshine - I would love to see Kate in that tiara as well. This dress is so fun and pretty.
Couch Potato - The shoes are so fun and work perfect with that dress. I also really think the tiara pairing
    with the dress is perfect!
Humphreys Girl - This is another dress that just screams Kate to me. I could see her wearing it and her
hair was so beautiful that night!
FLUSA Lady - There would be so much sparkle happening if she wore this look. It would be amazing!
PegJ - What a fun dress. The bracelets would work great with it and it is very much up Kate's alley!
Crowns Royalty - The fabric on the skirt looks so fine and fragile. What a beautiful dress and I love it paired
    with the emeralds!
Erin NZ - Another lovely blue gown. Love the over skirt and adore those sapphires.

    Part 2:
Joanne in California - What a fresh look. The simplicity of the look, the clean lines of the dress and
accessories is what makes this look work so well. Love!
Anonymous - The sparkle factor here would be spectacular! Love the great wall of diamonds with those
earrings. Kate would look stunning in this look.
Inez from Sweden - Another princess look! That dress is just amazing. The details are so lovely and the color
would be splendid on Kate. Well done!
Court - That gown with those diamonds would create such a lovely shimmery look over the dinner table.
S from E - Such a feminine look. So light and airy looking and Kate does these type of looks very well.
Fiona, NW England - Another person chose this dress and these jewels and I love it just as much seeing
it a second time from someone. So beautiful.
Anna Cecilia - This look together is very snow queen or ice princes to me. The dress and pearls work
    great together.
Faye M UK - The CLK Tiara does work so well with this dress and those shoes are amazing.
SMP - I love the red clutch with this look. Gives it a little oomph!
Gaby, Malta - Wow! This dress is so beautiful. The beading or embroidery takes it to a whole different
level and the accessories you added work so great with it. Love this dress..

Thank you so much Amy! I honestly didn't think my look was going to be this popular because I chose rather few accessoires and jewelry in comparison to most others here...
But the gown was already so eye-catching so I figured it would be too much otherwise :)
I am really happy you like my look!

  13. Beautiful designs! I am intrigued by the tiara choices. Someday, the fringe tiaras will be very useful for Kate. They look so nice with some of these outfits. In the meantime, the tiaras she has already worn are well used and look lovely. Kate has already made the Queen's bracelets stand out, and it looks as if they will continue to do so. She has created a diamond bracelet signature by wearing them without a great deal of other jewelry.

I can't choose a favorite gown. I am fascinated by the cascading tulips on the Murad gown. I love Sonja's Packham gown, maybe without the ribbon, and of course the blue from India. There are so many very interesting choices and combinations.

    2. Your design would certainly give her that full princess look, Sonja, and Kate goes for that at state banquets. I also very much like S from E's choice, perhaps for a diplomatic reception, since Kate wore a similar color at the last state banquet. Both of those gowns are lovely, and I especially like the chosen accessories.

These dresses are all fabulous choices! I especially like Maria from Germany's floral Marchesa gown, German Girl's Monique Lhullier gown (I love that designer, but didn't think to check her gown's.), and Couch Potatoe's lovely baby blue gown and amazing shoes. Kate seems to really like light blue! Erin from NZ's gown would be amazing with Diana's sapphire choker with the 7 pearl strands, too! I have been wishing for that for awhile. I am amazed at how many of you want to see the Cartier Halo Tiara again. Personally, I thought it was so small that I am glad it hasn't been repeated.

  17. Another collection of fairy tale gowns and jewels!

Carlie - That dress is certainly a winner - Mr Leo's favourite too, because it is so right for a state banquet. It works beautifully with the Lover's Knot and I love the glitter accessories.

Robin Wright - This is perfect for Kate for the Dutch Banquet - a style she's very much accustomed to - yet more daring - with those flesh stripes and the unique inspiration - and that orange is stunning with the diamante. I won't be surprised if Kate wears something like this.

Sonja from Bavaria - A gown from a fairy tale! What I like about it is the unique and heavily embellished bodice which would be perfect for a state banquet where Kate is sitting a lot. And far from being disappointed by the Cartier I love it, and it picks up the dress's diamante.

Lacy in LA - it is always a thrill when Charlotte puts together your stylist choice! I've been wanting to see a royal lady where Reem Acra and this is a lovely gown - and would be a wonderful backdrop for the Dubai loop sapphire necklace which I think would be ideal on Kate.

Maria in Germany - Kate has shown a love of florals and the gown is marvellous - with a bodice that would catch the eye and a full skirt that would be beautiful on the procession in. I love the creamy tone behind the flowers. And the Queen Mary fringe is proving a very popular choice.

Danielle - Wow! That choice would wake everyone and would be a great tribute to the House of Orange - it would make an excellent long gown. The boldness of the colours are a shock but I think they might work on Kate.

DM - Beautiful fabric is one of the pleasures of royal gowns and this blush gown has a lovely lustre - the pop of red is exciting and would look great on the procession in - I like the Cartier with this gown - it reminds me of the flow of Kate's wedding dress.

German Girl - I like this shade of tangerine for Kate - and the gown has a lovely diaphanous quality. The courts are a perfect match and the jewels very interesting - I didn't recognise Alexandra's tiara - it would be an interesting loan and that necklace is gorgeous.

Will be back to comment on more in a few hours.

  18. Back for my second group - some amazing shoes in this collection: Worth noting that I think state banquet protocol asks for closed courts - but many of us - myself included - have chosen sandals - a little secret for Kate under her gowns.

Little Miss Sunshine - Always a pleasure to see your selections for styling. This gown is amazingly beautiful - I love the flowers on it and the colour. And I agree on tiara sharing.

Couch Potato - Again, always delighted with your choices. I'd like to see Kate wear more Temperley and this would be a lovely place to start. That pale blue is a Kate favourite and the elaborate bodice on this gown would be perfect for a state banquet where a gown must look interesting when sitting. Those Ralph and Russo pumps are magical.

Humphrey's Girl - This gown is a beautiful stunner and so appropriate for an autumn banquet and for the Netherlands. The technique on those embroidered flowers is simply amazing - it would be dazzling on Kate - Murat would be a great choice for her. Those shoes are gems.

FlaUSA Girl - The diamante on the Stella dress would set off the tiara beautifully - it reminds me of a black gown with diamonds Diana wore that looked so fabulous. This gown was meant to wear with wonderful diamonds.

PegJ - I was so hoping someone would find a gown with tulips and you did it. This Erdem is similar but must better colours than the one Kate wore in Sweden. Your choice of the Queen Mum's colourful bracelets is inspired and lovely to have Cartier jewellery together. You didn't select pumps but there are Prada shoes with tulip heels that would dazzle. Here's a link.

Crown Royalty - That's a lovely Packham in a similar shape to what Kate's worn before. Pairing it would the Delhi Durbar emeralds would be amazing - especially as Maxima is likely to go all out with her jewels. I wish the queen would loan it.

Courtney - As one of the most discerning royal fashion mavens, you've chosen beautifully. That green would be heavenly on Kate - the style is ideal for her lovely shoulders. I'm glad you chose her emerald demi-parure - I was hoping someone would and the queen should be hearing a call for the Mary fringe to be loaned to Kate.

Erin NZ - That stunning blue gown is at once glamourous and perfect to set off magnificent jewels - the Delhi Durbar tiara and the queen's sapphires - Kate would be regal in this! I love your choice of shoes.

Joanne in California - A truly sophisticated look that would rival anything Maxima would wear and such striking lines - There's elegant simplicity here with the accessories. A brilliant look.
I'll be back soon for the third group.

  19. So many beautiful selections in this group! I love:the orange Jenny Packham (love the sheer cap sleeves and the cutouts at the stomach), the Reem Acra, the Marchesa floral, the Jovani, the Temperley blue gown, the black Zuhair Murad (!), the Jenny Packham Stella and the Packham Vela.

  20. For the final third - we have a gown with amazing symbolism for Kate and other fantastic choices.

Anonymous - Whilst many here have chosen gowns with symbolism for the Netherlands - you've chosen ones specifically appropriate for Kate. I'm sure many here know Vela is the constellation of the sails!! Kate's love of sailing is reflected in this gown and I'm sure that floating cape effect is like sails in the sky - this gown is not just dazzling but so right - I'd love to see Kate in it - with all those diamonds. And it picks up the Netherlands connection to the sea and ships.

Inez from Sweden - Simply a lovely gown that I know Kate would feel so happy wearing - and which beautifully sets off diamonds - particularly that wall of diamonds - the Alexandra tiara. This is a great selection from a Commonwealth designer - always a wonderful choice.

Court - I'm glad someone else is thinking of Kate receiving the Order of the House of Orange - that dress is so glamourous - it would set off the ribbon perfectly, as well as Kate's marvellous figure.

S from E - that is the most romantic gown - and with Kate's hair in a half-do, it would be lovely and youthful- the colour is so pretty. I love the fan motifs we're seeing - on the Temperley gown above and on this Emmy Bag. The embroidery is lovely.

Fiona NW England - That Packham gown seems meant for sapphires - whilst I'd love to see a new gown - if Kate wears the queen's sapphires, that would be a treat in itself. I've never been a great fan of that tiara but I'm thinking Kate with the right updo might redeem it - that it just isn't perfect for the queen's hairstyle which suits a rounder look. The stones are beautiful.

Anna Cecilia - There's something about a simple white gown and this one is so sophisticated - it would balance the delicacy of the Lover's Knot Very well.

SMP - It's always a huge compliment to a look when two people think of it - that simple white gown with diamonds is just right - and I like the pop of red.

Faye M - My Leo will be thrilled that his choice of gown is so popular - and I love it too. I hope Kate and her people take note of this choice - it's meant for a state banquet - or even the opening of Parliament - which it's time for Kate to be involved with - whenever it happens - hopefully with the customary formality.

Gaby - Malta - I saw that gown on Net a Porter and said Kate! I'm glad you chose it. That blue is Kate's shade and it's at once sexy yet regal. To see Kate wear the Girls - I hope I live to see it happen!
Thanks everyone for such great looks, thanks Charlotte and look forward to more...

Laughing as my choice of gown,Jenny Packham Windemere gown, is the most popular!?! Seriously ladies I'm always in the minority, so its very fun to have others share my taste:) Love all these new selections and really would like to think that someone in Kate's camp reads this blog, I mean really, its the best Kate blog out there and we are kicking fashion backside! Robin Wright, love your gown and accessories!! cant wait to see Kate again.

Wow, there are so many beautiful looks in this post, I just have to compliment each one!

    Carlie:
I definitely see why this dress is so popular, and I like the way you combined it with pink accessoires.

    Robin Wright:
I think that contrary to some concerns here, Kate would look pretty in orange and your gown is very much within her style.

    Lacy in LA:
The necklace you picked would go perfectly with the necklace of this very regal dress. And I would love to see white gloves as well - so elegant!

    Maria in Germany:
Wow this gown is just so beautiful, and the floral print is a nice gesture towards the Netherlands. Also, how did you find shoes that match all of the colours of the dress perfectly??

    Danielle:
    These are some killer heels!

    DM:
I like the combination of pink with red. And the gown has such a regal big skirt!

    German Girl:
I am just in love with this gown! If Kate doesn't wear it to the Dutch state banquet (orange would be perfect), this would also be great for a movie premiere or the BAFTAS! Also, I had never heard of the Ogliv tiara before, but now I fell in love with it and want Kate to wear it so badly - oh my..

    Little Miss Sunshine:
I am also hoping to see Kate wear this tiara, but I am afraid it wouls just cause tensions because of the comparison with Meghan :( Anyways, you gown is so dreamy and looks like for a real fairytale princess, the embellished flowers on the bottom are simply exquisite!

    Couch Potato:
Your dress reminds me of Kate's Marchesa for  the Spanish banquet while being totally different at the same time. The organza layers of the skirt kinda give it a romantic and mystic feel, and I really like these sleeves. And it's a shame we wouldn't catch a glimpse of the shoes because they are perfect!

    Humphreys Girl:
The shoes and earrings you chose match the dress so well. THIS is how floral gowns should look like, @Erdem! Lol

    FLUSA Lady:
The jewellery you picked go perfectly with the dress.

    PegJ:
I wonder if we will ever see Kate wear these bracelets - maybe only the sapphire one?

    Crowns Royalty:
I love this dress, and you picked the perfect accessoires. This look would look so good on Kate.

    Courtney from North Carolina:
I really like this McQueen clutch, it would be fun if Kate wore it to show her patriotism. Also, emeralds look so pretty on Kate and would match the dress you chose perfectly.

    Erin NZ:
What a pretty gown, although it looks more like something Alexander McQueen (Sarah Burton) would design than Jenny Packham :) but the satin blue would create such a drool worthy regal look with all these sapphires!

    Joanne in CA:
I like this coral colour which still passes as orange very much, it would really suit Kate.

    Anonymous:
It's time to show off these pretty floral earrings, they deserve some sunshine and attention!

    Inez from Sweden:
Very pretty,  I really like the colour! I am wondering hiw the Kokoshnik tiara wpuld look on Kate's head shape...?

    Court:
I do hope will get not only a Dutch, but also the Royal Family order!

    S from E:
Very pretty, I really like the accessoires you combined. And the clutchis such a great way to spice up her usual (boring) plain suede clutches without going too over the top!

    Fiona, NW England:
I really like this gown as well, and the sapphires would look good with it.

    Anna Cecilia:
    I love this gown!

    Faye M UK:
If Kate doesn't wear this gown by popular demand on here, then I don't know what! :)

    SMP:
I adore the red pop of colour with the structly white gown and shoes - Rolamd Mouret's tailoring is impeccable, and this gown is one of my favourites!

    Gaby, Malta:
It's a pitythat we won't see Kate wear the girls of great britain & northern ireland tiara anytime soon, it would match the gown you chose perfectly.

  28. A few comments I realised I missed. Lacy - I loved the long silk gloves with the bracelet over them - those gloves always remind me of Audrey Hepburn as a princess wiggling into those gloves in Roman Holiday.

Couch Potato - I forgot to mention the fan design in my comment on yours - it is so stunning as is the colour of that gown.

Erin - I loved the Poltimore too and am sorry it's gone - so regrettable. I love your idea for a French knot for Kate's hair.

Courtney - I'm glad you chose a brooch for that order we're all hoping for (along with the Queen's order - I still feel it's important for Kate to have that.) A good choice too.

I'm so happy generally to see Dutch designers and Commonwealth designers included - Bravo everyone. We also are seeing some of the best of American designers.

As a child, I loved Cecil Beaton photos. Princess Margaret particularly wore fairy tale gowns - one with butterflies and a rainbow sash - another by Dior with an amazing skirt. I mention this because in both groups - but this one particularly - many of these gowns pick up that romanticism - if only there was a Beaton to capture that magic that made royals seem somehow different than us - Kate's never posed in a formal gown and I'm thinking it's time and one of these would be magnificent.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oooh, yes, Julia. We need someone to channel Cecil Beaton and be commissioned to take a formal portrait of Kate. Who could do such a job? Do you know of anyone really good like that working today?

      Delete
    2. Unfortunately, I don't. There was a photographer who did similar work but he died at the end of the nineties and never did photograph royals other than Marie-Chantal of Greece.(David Seidner - Google him and then imagine if he were around to photograph Kate in some of these gowns - it's worth reading Wiki about him because it shows the importance of a cultural education for that sort of style - but the royals must have been wary - perhaps because they were trying so hard to be modern and unpretentious.
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Seidner)

That style that was so suitable to royals seems to be gone, and the photographers there are either seem boring or the wrong sort of innovative, more suited to celebrities and models and more Hello-like than elegant - I follow royals abroad fairly closely and it's the same there.

With Kate's interest in photography, I wish she would find someone in the area of the great photographers like Beaton, Parkinson or Baron but it's not a style that's seen a revival at the moment. And Kate is so keen to be seen as unpretentious - and 'country' (think of that Vogue shoot where she refused to wear a gown) that what we're looking for isn't likely.

But how brilliant it would be if some magazine would take our 'Style Kate' and do a fashion feature on it. They should!

  29. So many of these are dazzling! Although I usually like Reem Acra (My daughter chose a Reem Acra for her wedding gown!), I really don't much like the dusty pink with the crimson bustle bow. However, in the same grouping, I would love to see Kate wear her wedding earrings again!! Have they been archived or something, do you think?? They are so beautiful and meaningful--and a gift from her parents!

  31. Love every single gown and how it's been styled. You're all greatly talented! What a stunning selection! Kate will look wonderful without a doubt, but she might not go all out. I assume Duchess of Cornwall would also be present. Maxima's peer is the Queen who will be hostess, so Kate would be third in order of precedence.

  44. I haven't had a chance to comment on the lovely gown/ tiara selections yet- so here it is. Hopefully, I get to Part 1 this weekend but I've enjoyed perusing all of them. So much fun! I must say that the bar has been raised each subsequent year. I can't imagine what next year will bring. To see each poster's choice set up in Charlotte's lovely format is truly impressive.

Carlie, my teenage daughter would lie, steal and cheat for the glitter purse and pumps. So sparkly and pretty! The gown is SO KATE. I would not be surprised to see her in it.

Robin Wright, gorgeous gown in a gorgeous color with beautiful accessories. We can't ask for more!

Sonja/Bavaria, one of my favorite gowns in the bunch and with the Halo - sublime.

Lacy, fabulous everything but the gloves sold me.

Maria/Germany, Humphrey's Girl and PegJ, exquisite floral gowns that would look lovely on Kate anytime. I hope she invests in at least one of them.

Danielle, a bold choice that I would love to see Kate wear all formalled up with the tiara and earrings. Lovely rich tangerine color.

DM, Inez/Sweden and Gaby/Malta, showstoppingly regal gowns. From your vision to Kate's, please!

German girl, beautiful floaty feminine gown. Just lovely.

Little Miss Sunshine, Couch Potato, Crowns Royalty, S from E, Faye/UK, I can see Kate in any of these gowns. They are right up her alley. All of you have styled them beautifully as well.

I love sparkle, so have gravitated toward FLUSA Lady, Anonymous and Court's choices. So very very very pretty. I don't think I added enough verys! Honorable mention, Court, for the to die for glitter pumps and pumps that would render my daughter star struck.

Courtney/NC, again, just Wow Wow Wow! Truly spectacular. Love love that purse.

Erin NZ, another wow gown in a wow color with wow accessories. Wow!

Joanna CA, a Halo gown for the Halo tiara. Perfection.

Fiona/NW England, I think many of us are waiting to see this gown again. I wouldn't be disappointed if she showed up in it. Its a beautiful piece.

Anna Cecilia and SMP, Kates stuns in Mouret's designs. His silhouettes are made for Kate and she would shine in this choice.

Whew! Now on to Part 1.

  46. I also would like to see her repeat her sapphire blue Jenny Packham. It would be fitting however for her to choose a shade of orange (maybe light peach) for the Dutch state dinner. She certainly could (should) bring out a big gun tiara since you know the Dutch Queen will be wearing a big tiara. Most likely I would think, she will repeat wearing The Lover's Knot/Cambridge tiara.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think the Lover's Knot is most likely as well - although any of the choices would be nice. What I'm seeing here though is a real desire for Kate to be loaned one of the fringe tiaras - particularly the Queen Mary. This would make a lot of sense to me. It has been used mostly as a wedding tiara but with a very long time coming before any royal weddings - I think Beatrice and Eugenie will most probably use their mother's tiara - although the a revival of the York 'white rose' Strathmore would be lovely - we might be taking Louise or even Charlotte before it goes back into use. So why not make it a fourth tiara of Kate's.

      Delete
    2. I think it will be the Lovers Knot too. It is the largest one she seems to have at her disposal.

  49. I cam't choose favourites amongst these - any word be lovely - but I have to admit it would be fun if Kate choose one of the orange selections since during this 'silly season' of the press when there is no real royal news - we're being told Kate would never wear orange by some expert.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Really. Didn't she wear a gown with a lot of orange in it in Nepal?

      Delete
    2. Think it was in Bhutan. And yes, she wore orange twice. One dress (Tory Burch, I think) had orange in it and she wore an orange shawl. The other was the orange Beulah London dress with the poppy print. And several years ago she wore a checked suit in London that was described by the designer as white and "coral" but coral is usually defined as pinkish or reddish orange so one can say it is a version of orange. Another time she wore a solid-colored suit described as being "coral." So Kate does wear orange!

    12. Bluhare, thank you and thank you for keeping us informed. I'm glad there's hope. You said om MAM that if wishes could make her well, she would be. How true that is and how I wish it were true. Lots of love to you Maggie.

  53. I posted a simple message yesterday, but it has gotten lost somehow. Thank you, bluhare, for posting this very difficult news. I am so sorry. Please let Maggie know that she is in all of our thoughts.

  54. I am not greatly into fashion but have really enjoyed looking at all the wonderful dresses and accessories that everyone has produced.
For me there were four dresses that I felt would look stunning and most appropriate for this event.
Marcia's choice of the colourful Marchessa would look wonderful on Kate and stand out amongst the many other lovely dresses that will be there.
Couch Potato I felt tha lovely Temperley with the slight ruffle on the sleeves and lovely colour would be just as eye catching and very Kate.
I would also like to see a repeat of the lovely Blue Packham gown without cape that Kate wore in India but I think that is unlikely
and lastly the lovely Winderemere Packham gown although I feel that it could get lost amongst the other dresses.
All these dresses have covering of the arms which I feel is right for a function of this sort I am not keen on bare arms for such a formal event.
I do hope she is given an award by the time this dinner takes place so she is not once again the only senior royal without a sash.
