William & Kate Celebrate NHS Staff During Norfolk Tea Party

From the very earliest days of the pandemic - before we began to see a rise in infections and very sadly so many fatalities - there was some comfort in the knowledge we were so lucky to have the National Health Service. NHS staff on the front lines set to work immediately, despite the risks and knowing they would spend long hours away from their families, giving each and every patient an excellent standard of care. I remember in April hearing a young doctor on the news: she was exhausted, hungry, emotionally drained and, after losing a patient to the virus that day, could barely take a moment before stepping back into the chaos, knowing she needed to be on top of her game for those in her care. Their selfless dedication has been a beacon of light throughout some very dark days.

We owe them a debt of gratitude we can never repay, but we can certainly try. I was delighted to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at an afternoon tea party celebrating staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Norfolk today. Given its proximity to Sandringham, the hospital has welcomed several members of the Royal family over the years. In 1998, the Queen Mother was treated there for a fractured hip, and in 2002, the Queen was seen for a knee complaint.

William and Kate drove from Anmer Hall and were photographed using hand-sanitiser upon arrival.

In addition to celebrating seventy-two years of the NHS, the hospital marked its 40th anniversary.

William and Kate spent time with Suzie Vaughan, an operating department practitioner at QEH, who spent nine weeks away from her family during the pandemic.

Suzie's emotional video of her reunion with daughters Bella and Hettie went viral and touched hearts all over the world.

Suzie said: "It was a difficult decision but I wanted to keep the girls safe so they moved in with my sister. I worked on the COVID Intensive Treatment Unit and COVID Emergency Department during the pandemic. The past three months have been exhausting physically and emotionally and The Duke and Duchess’s visit is a recognition of the hard work and compassion that everybody has put in to keep our patients safe."

More on the meeting:

'The duke told Hettie and Bella “I love your dresses”, while the duchess told them: “You girls look really pretty.” Kate asked if they had missed their mum while she was working, and added: “It is a real treat to meet you both.” Ms Vaughan, an operating department practitioner, said: “They both always wanted to meet a real life princess.”
The couple also spoke to Sam Jude, 30, a nurse at the hospital, who came down with coronavirus in May. “I told them the hospital were like my family as my real family were 6,000 miles away in India,” he said. “They checked in on me all the time and I told them that and they were impressed.”

COVID-19 survivors Samuel Jude and Blessy George shared their experiences with the couple.

They spoke with medical director Frankie Swords about the logistical operation underway since March.

Chief Executive Caroline Shaw CBE accompanied the royal couple, describing it as "just an amazing afternoon". Guest Julie tweeted: "They were so lovely, taking their time to speak to some of the guests who were on the front-line during Covid." Hello! reports the couple told staff: "Everyone appreciates what you do. The NHS is a fantastic organisation."

They were also given keyrings for the children. Below, a great video from the party.

Professor Steve Barnett, said: "The past few months have been incredibly challenging for everyone at QEH, and for the wider NHS, as we have responded to this global pandemic. I could not be more proud of how our staff have responded – always putting patients and their safety first. As the nation celebrates the NHS's 72nd birthday and we mark our own hospital’s 40th anniversary, today’s visit by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is a testament to the high regard we all have for those who care for us when we need it the most. Both our staff and the local community, who have given us so much support over the past few months, should be rightly proud of themselves. We have an incredibly special relationship with our local community in West Norfolk, and today's clap was about saying thank you for the unrivalled support we have received in recent months, for which we could not be more grateful."

The Duke and Duchess departing.

A very brief departure video.

The Royal Parks prepared a very special thank you.

The Duchess was elegant in Beulah London's Shalini floral-print silk midi dress.

The sold-out piece is described: "Beulah's navy dress is digitally printed with a charming floral pattern that is contrasted with a white point collar and matching cuffs – typically ladylike nuances from the label. It's made in England with a fitted bodice followed by a flared skirt, then cinched at the waist with a coordinating belt."

The digital floral print.

A view of the dress in motion from Beulah London.

Kate accessorised with the striking £2,400 Ocean Tides Milky Quartz Earrings in 18ct Gold by Patrick Mavros. Inspired by colours of the Indian Ocean with "expertly set and polished stones [dangling] elegantly from carefully crafted sea urchins". A word of thanks to the Royal Ladies via Twitter.

Kate completed the look with a pair of navy suede pumps. They look like her Rupert Sanderson Malory suede pumps.

To all of our readers who have served on the front lines, I know I speak for every single one of us when I say a heartfelt thank you.

  1. This is a no for me. She looks very stiff and stuffy in this outfit. I liked it more on the model where the first two buttons are undone.

  2. At first glance, I thought this was her polka dotted blue dress. It is so similar in length, collar, and shade of blue. I don't know why she would want something that is so much like her other dress. Oh well.

  3. Hi,
I think she wore her navy blue suede Alexander McQueen pumps.
Shoes she wore in 2014 in Australia: https://hrhduchesskate.blogspot.com/2014/04/william-and-kate-say-goodbye-to.html
    What do you think?

    1. I immediately recognized her shoes as well. I am not sure of the designer but with that said they do need to be retired. I immediately noticed that they were scuffed or needed a good wire brushing. In general I have noticed that Kate's shoes often do not have the same care taken as her clothing attire. Just an observation.

    2. USA Granny, I have a feeling Kate might prefer the comfort of a pair of well walked in shoe over a few scuff marks. Suede might not be the best option if that is the case.

  4. Lovely gesture. I almost at first sight thought it was the same dress she wore for family photos with Charles when Louis was still very small, but that was polka dots. Yet its the same effect. I liked the polka dot one a bit more.

The Covid is such a hard thing...nobody knows exactly what's good, safe... I was wondering about the key rings for the kids. Who all touched them.. do you wash then first before giving to the kids?

  5. I'm sorry, this makes me angry to see. No masks, no social distancing. And these are all healthcare workers and covid survivors. It's nice that the Royal Family is supporting causes but they also need to step up and be socially responsible. People crowded around tables indoors with no masks is nowadays a petri dish.

    1. I disagree, Ivy. Clearly they are practicing social distancing and hand santitizing. Also they are outdoors. I agree that all precautions were taken ahead of this event to assure everyone is safe. I wish people in our country would take these same precautions to reduce infections here. Also, Kate looks great as always.

      Delete
    2. It looks like they are actually all outdoors. It looks like maybe part is under a tent, but the tables are definitely sitting on grass. Plus, they are at a hospital, so I would guess the hospital is following it’s own guidelines.

      Delete
    3. Ivy Lin, I agree. I know that being outdoors is supposed to be safer, but my concern is how far your breath goes when you speak. Much safer with masks and it would be so nice to show the country that one can be social and safe with masks. The dress is very pretty; it would be prettier if it were unbuttoned, and I like the image of the belt being more emphasized. That would look nice on KAte. Gorgeous earrings.

    4. So are you angry at the medical staff participating in this engagement? They’re the ones that are living this situation in first line so if they think everything is ok and all necessary precautions are met it won’t be me who disagrees with them.

    5. I couldn't agree more with you Shella. I commented on this a couple of posts ago and clearly got residence claiming that I needed to educate myself in regards to rules of other countries. Thank you for your comment.

Please, can we not do this every time she has an engagement? they are out doors and at a hospital. jeez.

    7. I think the best way they could honor NHS workers is to show support by wearing masks. There are the hospital rules & what we don't know may have been an accommodation made for the photo op. Until the virus is gone, the only way to contain it is wearing masks, social distancing & washing hands. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but my family is full of Drs. & I'm still battling awful covid after effects 2 months out. Drs. are learning more about this virus every day. Why not follow the basics & have W&K sending that message of care, would go so very far! I felt sad for the NHS Workers, because I bet if you asked them what would support them, they'd say for everyone to do those steps to not let the virus surge up again in the UK. States are already having to roll back openings here in the states. I am so disappointed in them & I never thought I would ever have said that about these 2. Such an easy gesture to show care & support of the NHS.

    8. They are keeping a safe distance. The families eg nurse with her 2 children sit close to each other but they are safe distance from Kate and William and others. If you keep a safe distance the mask is not neccessary. It is not mandatory in Britain to wear a mask.

      Delete
    9. Not being mandatory does not mean something should not be done. The US is now "knee deep in the first wave" because most of us are not mandated to wear a mask, or people just refuse to do so. A "safe distance" is still being determined; right now, there is evidence being presented that perhaps the virus is carried via aerosol transmission -- months ago, a choir met and kept a "safe" distance, but their singing infected a great proportion of the members. Becca USA is 100% right! The US is suffering because "leaders" do not consider the mask to be important. Being at a hospital does not make you safe -- the US is about to experience a huge wave of home evictions because people cannot work because they will not practice safe measures. Much much more important than a photo op.

      Delete
    10. Becca USA so is everyone going to be the mask police for future engagements. Might as well criticize them for not wearing masks during their zoom calls then. Becca the UK is only required to wear masks on public transport and I have close relatives who live in the UK that told me about their guidelines and safety protocols. Also I see CP Mary and Queen Maxima not wearing masks during their public appearances lately so I'm wondering where is their criticism?

      Delete
    11. Davion, Becca USA is giving not only good advice but advice based on her experience with COVID, which hasn't ended! Guidelines and safety protocols are not the same as safest measures -- look at Texas, where I live. I am happy to criticize any royal or any nonroyal -- it is what it is. This is not a situation where the RF is brave, like during the war. This is the RF showing that social distancing, or nearly social distancing, is sufficient. New things are being discovered everyday about how the virus spreads.

  6. Thank you for your quick post as usual!
How certain are we that she hasn't been wearing the gold version of the Patric Mavros earrings and not the silver ones in the past three occasions that she has made during the lockdown? I know you are aware that Suran at WKW got confirmation from PM she was wearing the silver version when she wore the Boden Aurora dress. Could she have been wearing the gold version in the other appearances like in the red/pink flowery Beulah dress? She could, of course, own and have worn both. Many thanks

    1. It’s better to wear mask all around than to assume everybody has been tested negative.

And even if everyone tested negative, it’d be a good example to promote mask wearing for the country. This is really important right now. To see VIPs go mask-less is to make it seems less necessary and important.

Wear mask. Normalize it. Don’t worry about photo shoots right now. It’s better to show mask is cool or at the very least, the way to go for all of us to be safe.

Wearing mask should be the important message to celebrate NHS.

    2. I’ve said it before, in from Spain and I wear masks ALL the time. We are obliged to. My personal opinion is completely irrelevant here. Are they in Spain? No. Are they following the guidelines from their government? It seems so. Do I agree with those guidelines? No. But it doesn’t matter. Again, they are in the UK. It’s not their job to make masks look cool. And please stop saying that they only thing William and Kate do are photo shoots. Maybe you could read all the tweets of people that attended the meeting yesterday to know how impressed they were by the C and how much they loved their visit. They definitely didn’t consider it a photo shoot.

    5. Agree! We are a group of readers from all over the globe with our own experiences, safety guidelines, and circumstances. It is ignorant of anyone to think we know what is "right" for William and Kate. The future King will certainly be cared for as well as possible... remember that. He doesnt just wake up, throw on an outfit and go say "hello" to some hospital workers. Many hours and precautions will have gone into this visit.

As long as each one of us can say we are doing our best to protect ourselves and those around us, we should stop pointing fingers and remind ourselves to make observations and share opinions in a caring and constructive manner. Covid is stretching our society thin, so let's remember we are all trying to keep up with the most reliable and current information available to us.

      Be safe, be kind.

      Delete
    6. The notion that the future king will be cared for as well as possible really upsets me. Honestly what does a king or queen have that makes the precautions around them more valuable in a health crisis like this. The nurses, grocery workers, truck drivers, sanitation employees should be cared for as well as possible. Our priorities around this level of care for an obscenely wealthy family that already benefits tremendously from their security and station in life should really be examined.

      Delete
    7. Anonymous 18:21 I agree that being future king does not make William more deserving of proper health and safety precautions than the person who waves to my kids and they pick up garbage bins along our street. I don't think anyone here has said anything along those lines.

However it is undeniable that he has nearly unlimited access to resources, which means that whether just or unjust, a lot goes into his safety and wellbeing.

  11. It was nice to see this post today as we in the USA bring to an end our Fourth of July weekend celebrations. I must say it was the most low key celebrations of all time in following the directives of the Covid 19 as states open going from yellow to green in an effort to get back to a new normal and at the same time remain safe through social distancing and wearing face masks. Kate and William getting back to public outing is a nice positive and something for us all to look forward to doing. I must say they both look well and very rested. Kate almost looks like she has been on vacation or at least spending lots of time in the open air and sunshine. Her complexion is to be envied. I love the simple hair as I often say. Her attire was nice but a little to "office" like for my taste this time of year. I must admit to not really having an understanding of British weather this time of year. I did notice a constant breeze in the air watching the video. Today, we experienced 90 degree weather in the North East and the coming week looks to be the same. Summer has truly arrived in most parts of the USA.

  14. I love her hair -- the straight ponytail is refreshing after all the waves and more formal hairstyles. That collar isn't to my taste but looks great on her. Not a fan of the dress. The shoulders make her look wide. She's also so, so thin. Little worried about the DOC! That said, so happy to see her and this cause made me cry -- the video of the girls seeing their mum, argh.

Well I live in one of the most currently hard hit states for COVID and seeing Kate and William at the hospital gives me hope, like USA Granny said, that someday things will be better. The UK did what it was supposed to do, sacrificed a lot. We saw what the UK went through and bravo that they can celebrate now. As someone else noted, this was a HOSPITAL event so give them credit that they knew what they were doing. We Americans have no right to criticize or pass judgment on a foreign medical profession that has done such a tremendous job. We certainly got it wrong over here and continue to get it wrong. Pay the price now and celebrate later seems a foreign concept to us.

    1. Thinking of the UK as a shining example in terms of tackling COVID-19, makes me think things are even worse in the US than I thought. In the beginning the UK government was all about loose rules and people started dropping like flies. Only when the PM himself got severely ill from a COVID infection and the NHS was about to implode they finally came round for a shutdown. The UK has the second worst dearth rate in Europe. Things are improving a lot now thankfully but a lot of loss, heartbreak and exhaustion could have been prevented. We definitely didn’t what was supposed to be done till it was too late and our sacrifice is higher than it should have been. Thankfully many citizens acted faster then governments and started reducing their contacts, got more rigid in terms of handwashing/sneezing/coughing etiquette and reported ill at work to not endanger their colleagues. That helped smoothing the curves. Empowered, social and responsible citizenship has never been more important and thankfully many European governments did encourage it. Thinking of the big grey mass of faceless others, protecting people you have no connection too doesn’t come easy to humans, but we now see how vital it is to be able to make sacrifices even though you don’t know for whom exactly. And how important independent science (and I mean all of them ethics, medicine, sociology, economics and so on. They all helped our societies and governments to make informed and balanced decisions on how far we can go for how long).
If the US wants good examples they should look at South Korea, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria and Singapore. Just examples and there are some countries with better numbers but in some cases I don’t trust the government or the resources and technological ability to report valid data.
In the end, everyone can decide for themselves how much they isolate in private and no one can keep you from wearing a mask (and gloves) to protect others.
Good luck to the US, it seems to really need it.

      Delete
    2. Yeah I’m not sure what you’re looking at re the UK celebrating. The government has significantly mismanaged aspects of this pandemic just like in the USA. We are not on the other side of it yet at all and I fear a significantly worse wave is yet to come.

    10. Non-medical, fabric masks are being used by many people in public areas, but there has been limited evidence on their effectiveness and WHO does not recommend their widespread use among the public for control of COVID-19. However, for areas of widespread transmission, with limited capacity for implementing control measures and especially in settings where physical distancing of at least 1 metre is not possible – such as on public transport, in shops or in other confined or crowded environments – WHO advises governments to encourage the general public to use non-medical fabric masks.https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/question-and-answers-hub/q-a-detail/q-a-on-covid-19-and-masks

      Delete
    11. The WHO also is just recently admitting the possibility that the virus could be airborne, citing a study which was available weeks ago. There are multiple levels of infection control precautions for hospital-medical workers. ICU staff have been using the strongest (when available), used for airborne and droplet transmission combined , since the beginning of the pandemic. This includes (always) good handwashing, distance, gloves, masks, shoe covers and finally shields. The thing that seems to dictate the conflicting protocol, with cities, states, counties, and national recommendations is a hodge podge of what is convenient, what is expedient, and what the public in an area or population will accept. Rarely is it based on what works best; although, the jury is still out on that, to some extent. It seems to me that it is better to err on the cautious side. Added to all these variables is that some people are still in denial about the potentially deadly nature of this virus.

Bill Nye the Science Guy has a tutorial demonstrating the benefits of the use of masks. I have not seen it but hopefully he used several different types of masks to illustrate . There are also slow motion films showing the distance the product of a sneeze or cough can travel in droplet form, which is what social distancing parameters are based on. (About 3 feet) If a microorganism is airborne (aerosol form) it can remain on air currents much longer and travel much farther. It gets in ventilation systems this way.
Basically, we have been trying to shoot an elephant with a pea-shooter...by using droplet only precautions for an airborne virus

  19. I agree with the people that are no fan of this look. The ponytail is a great idea. Normally I adore it but today it sits a bit awkward on her head. The dress is one of her frumpiest especially when she insists to button it up all the way. The buttoned up neckline is not flattering her anyway and the rest of the dress is just a big NO. I think it’s actually designed to be worn more open and dressed down, sort of skater girl wearing grandma’s dress in an ironic way. That could work but. And it is definitely designed for a figure with more curves (or baby fat if you take my example). I will say that she looks more and more frail in the last couple of weeks. A bit like in the beginnings of her pregnancies when she wasn’t well. While from what we have seen I think they are perfectly happy with their family size, we obviously have no idea what they wish for. Maybe the pressure and concerns the general situation has brought, finally caught up with her? She seems to happy and engaging enough in between but I wouldn’t call her a picture of health at the moment. Hope everything is well and her looks are just deceiving.
Wiliam though, he looks very well. The outfit hits the perfect mark between casual and preppy. He looks very relaxed and carefree, dare I even say light hearted? At this engagement it is definitely him that radiates and shines.

  22. Frankly I feel it is quite cynical to say that "we were so lucky to have the National Health Service". We are indeed lucky, because of the dedicated physicians and nurses giving their everything, everyday. But NHS? Certainly not. This health care service is socially discriminatory amongst having many MANY other problems. I truly believe your blog and all the coverage is neutral and well-balanced, I just think you need to re-evaluate your choice of words here. I am not trying to start a political argument nor do I want to attack you. I simply want to point this out and that maybe it would be called for to change your language here. As I said, I applaud all health care staff, they work miracles. But NHS fails them, and it fails us.

I so hope this does get posted and can be seen a legitimate and fair critique of a flawed system.

Lily, with all due respect, I don't think you get to tell Charlotte what words to use on her blog depending on your point of view. Charlotte provides this blog, with as you say neutral and well balanced coverage, to those of us who love to follow Kate and frankly Charlotte as well!!

Interesting about your NHS comments and feeling's as I have never heard anyone bash it before now, so I will take that part as food for thought, but I don't believe that telling charlotte to re-evaluate her words is warranted.

      Delete
    2. Of course it is Charlotte's good right to state her opinion. As it is mine. It just feels personally painful to heat praise about a system that fails on a daily basis and specifically in light of this pandemic and it fails to save lives that you have been saved otherwise. This starts with the availability of services, e.g. did you know that Turkey has both more "regular" and ICU hospital beds than the UK does? There are exactly 2.63 regular hospital beds per 1000 citizens in the UK. That is ridiculously low. And this is just the start. Do you know the average waiting time for the ambulance during these last months? Or the fact that everyone you can afford it, is privately insured, in addition to NHS? The system is so underfunded and has been neglected for decades. And all this talk about shifting the money that would have been payed in form of EU contributions towards NHS is just more lies.

Again, all medical staff are working mircales under these insane circumstances. But to say NHS is so great when at the same time there are so many people whose lives could have been saved if there only had been better funding etc. feels just wrong to me. And not very sensitive to all the people who lost loved ones. Of course, Charlotte is entitled to her opinion. But so am I. More than happy to discuss this further if you want to

      Delete
    3. Lily, two points. First, your description sounds like health care in the US. Reading what you wrote, I realized that in the US, we honor the workers, not the system or specifical medical centers, insurance groups, etc. Health care is a mess here but we feel that most health care workers deserve praise. I personally have meet many, many who do not, but during the pandemic we assume differently. Second, Charlotte allows us to post our opinions on her blog. She gives her viewpoint and then we can give our viewpoints. But I would never tell her to change her words; when you spend so much time an passion on a blog, it's "yours" and not subject to change. Maybe that's a fine distinction and you didn't mean what you said literally about her, but it's an important point.

    4. Allison in US, I would like to respond to your post. In both my posts I tried to make the same distinction and I stand by it. Health care workers are doing the very best they can and they deserve they highest praises for that. Believe me, I know that on a very personal level. My comments solely focused on the system that's flawed, not the staff. A system which btw also fails all those health care workers (by paying them ridiculously inadequate, all the hours, the risk they themselves face etc). As I said, I don't mean to create a political debate here, however, I strongly feel about that and praising NHS, not seeing all the major flaws in the system, feels like it is a bit inconsiderate. And of course Charlotte is allowed to use the words she sees fit and I won't insinuate any malpractice. I guess I am just asking to be more mindful of the words we all use. So many people died in the UK and personally, I think a great many of these deaths could have been prevented if NHS would actually be a fairer and better system. Hence my critique. Hope this clarifies my comments and my intention behind. Especially in times like these i feel it is so incredibly important which words we use. Words are so powerful and a slight twist of words makes all the difference. Again, not trying to force anyone to say or not say stuff, just wanting to raise some awareness and consideration. Saying the NHS is so great feels like a slap in the face of everyone who lost a loved one. Not because health care workers are flawed, far from it and on the very contrary. The system is.

  23. Thank you Charlotte for this post. Very pleased to see the visit and that sacrifice of staff was acknowledged. I have a friend who had a baby just as Covid hit. Her husband is a hospital doctor. She and the baby went to her parents so the baby was safe and the baby's Dad stayed at work. Common good above personal good.

I think the shadows around the eyes might be to do with the light and perhaps reflected light from the balloons. Some of the other people have dark shadows too and lots of people are squinting in the sunlight.

I am tired of mask comments. Each country chose it's own path and set of rules. Can we not just accept that. Also could we accept that summer in the UK might be different from summer in California and require different clothes.

  24. I understand kate wants to be identified with a duchess an not a fashion icon, someone with a public role and specific goals in charities etc... still with this dress, all the buttons closed...it just does not flatter her...she seems older...it is a pity...what will she wear at her 50s?

    1. Probably all these dresses she is wearing now!! Lucky her she will also probably be able to fit into them and still look like a class act! She looks crisp, professional, poised, and beautiful!

  26. Always amazed at how she looks great even in styles I don't care for. She's just a beautiful girl, and I think her kind spirit shines through everything she does, much like Diana's did. A person just can't fake that kind of sincerity.

  27. Honestly, the dress and style could well be on purpose as a way to shield her body from germs during a time when we have a disease that is transmitted through the air--long sleeves and buttoned up to the neck. Perhaps this look is not about a fashion statement.

    Great post, thank you, Charlotte!
    I'm happy to see W&K.
Although I'm not a fan of the dress, Kate looks beautiful. The sea urchins are incredible! 😃

  29. While I am in the minority, I love the dress, and really like how she has styled her hair in this not to slick ponytail. (Her hair is really beautiful) She looks casually cool, and it seems blue is the color of the day as you see how everybody else is dressed. She always seems so put together, no matter the style. I like how Kate is holding onto the key chains for the children, think she appreciates those gestures and likes to bring back something from her engagements to her children. The close up of her with her head slightly tipped to the side, just really shows Kate's natural beauty, inside and out. Agree with Lori P, everything about her just seems so kind and genuine. cc

  30. I think Catherine ( I really hate her being called Kate it’s not her name) looks lovely. The happiness and love that shine from both her and William is lovely. The joy they seem to bring to people is wonderful. I’m from Australia 🇦🇺 and we have never had to wear masks and in fact the State I live in WA has had 86 days of zero Covid and I’m currently on holidays within our state as our Premier has closed the borders even from people from other Australian States so I’m feeling very safe.
On another note the dress Catherine is wearing is very in style at the moment and it might look a bit unusual for the buttons to be all done up but can you imagine a photo of Catherine’s cleavage or heaven forbid her bra or breast being even slightly exposed when she leans over to greet a child or something would fetch by the tabloids. Just a thought.
However it’s her choice what she wears and how she wears it.

    1. Catherine has referred to herself as Kate a number of times over the years. From what I have read her family calls her Catherine, but her friends call her Kate. So I think that it is fair to say that she doesn’t mind being called Kate.

    2. Have you seen her outfit from Saturday? I think Kate is absolutely capable only showing the skin she is comfortable with. And, from an UK perspective, if she had a little mishap it wouldn't be the end of the world. She wouldn't be the first royal and certainly not the last.

Honestly William and Catherine are a power couple if I have ever seen one! The future of the monarchy is in exquisite hands. They exude joy, sincerity and warmth. What a boost for the NHS - good for them. It appears from the photos that everybody was appropriately social distanced for outdoors...

I love her in a midi dress but this look is frump city. Love the ponytail, love the color - that's about it. It appears from dress/model pictures that the neck could have been left a button or 2 open and still appropriate.

  32. I think that the work the Duke and Duchess have been doing during the crisis, has been a becon of light for all who they support and very important causes they highlight. What a fantastic Prince and Princess of Wales they will make. When the time comes, she will hold both of her late mother in laws titles. Princess of Wales and a Queen of her people's hearts. She's earning that love and respect as we watch on.

  37. As I love the Alessandra Rich Blue & White pock dot dress last May, 2019, I also like this one, slightly different, Love the colors and pattern. This is Kate’s style she is a Duchess and she is appropriate dress for the event and I would like to add William’s outfit looks modern and coordinate with her outfit wonderfully. He is stepping up his wardrobe and looks great, like to see more William, hope you are reading this. As a couple, the look and outfits perfection 💙.

  38. HRH has been getting some flack for dressing with a "severe" old fashioned Mom style lately, but I think it's very intentionally, in the sense that we are in the middle of a pandemic and she is reflecting both the collective mood, and her perception of our global situation. Just the same, she is warm, affable, in a way that relaxes and provides stability and comfort. This is not the time for va-va-voom anything, or showcasing fashion, and I think she is doing a great job of balancing her role as promoter of public well being, which combines stability and optimism and simultaneously acknowledging the absolutely catastrophic state of the world. [On a more "frivolous" note, I do think she needs to step up her skin care regime]. Sylvia
