It's Phillipa Lepley & Van Cleef & Arpels for Glittering Reception

For their final evening engagement of the tour, it was a glamorous black-tie reception hosted by the Governor-General at Baha Mar Beach Resort.

It followed a day of events including a school visit, a meeting with frontline healthcare workers, a vibrant and exciting cultural event, and a rainy regatta.

During a speech at Sybil Strachan Primary School in Nassau this morning, the Duchess said: "The connections, the relationships and friendships that you make during school are so special. So please look after them, cherish them and take time for them. And be kind, understanding and loving to yourself and others." Kate noted children growing up in the Bahamas "are very lucky", and joked she would love to visit all 700 islands.

Kate continued in her speech: "Our three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, all love being by the sea, so I hope they will be able to experience your clear waters and beautiful beaches before too long. However, as much as you have these natural wonders to enjoy, I know that the last few years have not been easy for many of you."

A terrific performance from the Bahamas National Youth Choir.

A peek behind-the-scenes from Simon Perry.

It was very much a day and evening for memorable speeches. During his address, Prince William touched on the issue of Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas mapping their future without the monarch as head of state: "With Jamaica celebrating 60 years of independence this year, and Belize celebrating 40 years of independence last year, I want to say this: We support with pride and respect your decisions about your future. Relationships evolve. Friendship endures."

The Mirror reports:

'In a last minute addition to a speech on the penultimate day of his tour with wife Kate of Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas, the Duke of Cambridge spoke directly to those countries who may hold referendums to forge a new future.

The comments were a marked shift in tone from the rest of the eight day tour, where the Duke and Duchess battled against a wave of anti-monarchist protest and sentiment, during their first tour of the region.

It is understood the words directly addressing the futures of those nations who may yet choose to cut ties with the monarchy were added late in the day following reports in The Mirror and other major news networks including the BBC and ITV which questioned the wisdom of the tour and its success this week.'

In addition to mentioning the Queen's legacy, he fondly recalled a childhood holiday he and Harry took with Diana as "the best holiday ever".

William also referenced his late grandfather: "I know as well that my grandfather, The Duke of Edinburgh, had a soft spot for The Bahamas. Catherine and I were thinking about him today as we celebrated the return of sloop sailing here by racing off Montagu Beach. He would have been in his element."

It's difficult to choose a favourite among Kate's tour evening gowns, however tonight's sumptuous Phillipa Lepley creation edged it for me.

The elegant off-the-shoulder gown comes in a beautiful aqua/icy blue, a nod to the Bahamas, with a timeless silhouette crafted in duchess satin. It features a fold over top, delicate straps and a full skirt reminiscent of silhouettes from the 1950s.

Below, the Vienna bridal gown. It is described: "This dress was designed from the shoulder down. The delicately draped straps sit perfectly just off the shoulders, with a softly tied asymmetric bow to the left where the eye is drawn. The neckline highlights the collar bones above as it curves across the chest. The fabric around the torso has been designed with such precision, moulded so closely to ensure an almost spray-on look. Beneath is a signature Phillipa Lepley corset which draws in and accentuates the waist."

More on the designer from Hello!

'Born in Nottinghamshire, Phillipa was aware from a young age that she had a passion for design. And she went on to study fashion design at the London College of Fashion.

The course taught her the basics, which enabled her to set up her namesake bridal business in 1988, in the midst of a recession. Phillipa opened her first bridal store on London's Fulham Road in 1990.

A self-confessed perfectionist, it is Phillipa Lepley's desire to "make the most beautiful dresses in the world", which is perhaps the reason she is one of London's leading couture bridal designers.'

The Magic Alhambra earrings retail for £5,400. The collection is described: "Created in 2006 by Van Cleef & Arpels, the Magic Alhambra jewelry creations gather different-sized Alhambra motifs, coming together in a joyful dance. Inspired by the clover leaf, their asymmetric designs feature different associations of materials."

The matching necklace in yellow gold and mother of pearl.

Kate carried the sea blue satin Hayworth clutch by Lulu Guinness (with thanks to Lady Parky).

Kate's sparkling new pumps are the Gianvito Rossi Rania 105 (with many thanks to Heaven). Described as: "A true Cinderella shoe, the silver-toned Rania pumps from Gianvito Rossi are lavishly embellished with clusters of Swarovski crystals. Made from mesh with suede inserts, they perch atop 105mm stiletto heels." They retail for $2,495 at My Theresa.

A stunning look for the penultimate day of the tour.

  1. While most of her outfits on this tour have been A+(Tory Burch dress, Alexander McQueen pantsuit, Emilia Wickstead green and turquoise dresses and today's Self Portrait dress), her hair has been, almost exclusively, a disaster. The center part and flat, straight hair do not look good. She has a professional hairdresser with her, yet her hair is flat and aging?

    1. I loved the shape of her updo with the green dress, but I like it down and straight with this one and the pink dress! It looks modern to me :) the side photos of this dress are really pretty. Nice to see her wearing a different silhouette and it’s a lovely color. Charlotte, soon you will get a break! Sue

    2. Perhaps she did not do her fabulous blows because of the heat and the humidity. While I am not a fan of the centre part she is still a very lovely lady and looks terrific to me

    3. I was thinking the same. I know it is very on-trend overall right now. And of course she is beautiful no matter what. But not many have hair that can do what hers can, whereas anyone can do flat and straight with a center part!! Of course, her poise and radiance shine through, but I hope she looks at these photographs and opts to return to her signature glossy curls, or the updos. Still, though…this tour had some elements that were unexpected and tough to navigate, and they have continued to shine. I congratulate them, especially Kate, who really does seem to be the backbone of the two.

    4. I've really liked her hair for this trip.

    5. My guess is she got a keratin treatment before she left to deal with the humidity. I think it's nice to see a different look. Xo

    6. With all respect, the tropics are a challenge to hair. Bouncy waves will wilt. She looks wonderful.

      Delete
    7. I imagine the climate plays a role in her hair choice. High humidity with rain the curls would fall quickly and become frizzy. I remember William talking about how wild Kate's hair is with humidity.

      Delete
    8. I think it might be humidity thing… we know from past tours to Asia that her hair gets very frizzy and curly in the heat. Maybe they’re trying to keep it tamed, and her usual volume and smooth bouncy curls are just not possible in the humidity.

    9. I have generally liked her hair this tour, actually. I’m not usually a fan of Kate’s intricate updos, so I’ve preferred this simpler look.

Funny how we all have different tastes!

Do you know how hard it is for naturally wavy hair to look like that on a Caribbean Island?!?!! It took a good shampoo, blowdry and a TOM of different products to keep her hair flat. There's not a stray fly away or frizzy hair to be seen. This is for sure a lot of work to get her hair to lay down flat, look shiny without looking oily or weighed down by product. I think her hairstylist has done amazing dealing with the humidity in the islands.

      Delete
    13. I agree about the hair. I think that most of her hairdo’s on this trip (and recently)have been rather aging. I wonder if it might be time for something significantly different. Something fresher perhaps.

      Delete
    14. Agree ; love her but haven't been loving her hair at all.

      Delete
    15. The best hairdresser in the world is no match for humidity. If your hair hasn’t been trained to sustain humid weather you aren’t left with a lot of options. It was wise for Kate to let her fashion choices steal the show and let her hair take the backseat.

      Delete
    16. Straight hair in a humid climate loses the curl so very quickly. My hair is the same. Looking at the morning photos in the rain, this is easy to see. One way to control this to have a very simple hair do: a ponytail, an updo, or any style that can be controlled. Women with curly hair have the opposite problem when their straightened hair goes frizzy in the humidity.

      Delete
    17. Considering she has naturally curly hair and she has been visiting hot and humid climates it has taken an extra amount of work to make her hair look flat and sleek, so I am sure it is intentional. It is okay for a change. It looks professional, but I wouldn't want this to be her go to hairstyle for long.

      Delete
    18. Kate does have very naturally curly hair, which is always blown out and then curled with rollers or a curling iron. Natural curly hair gets very frizzy in high humidity and heat. I think the plan on this trip was to straighten it and use lots of product to keep it from getting frizzy. If you look very closely at Kate's pictures in the green gown, you can see small, frizzy hairs sticking out all around her head.

      Delete
    19. I agree. Don’t know who’s idea it was to style it this way but a clean chignon and a little height would have made a world of difference. It’s too long and looks juvenile in some pics with the puff sleeve dresses

      Delete
    20. She has hair that really frizzes and then becomes difficult to manage because of the bulk. Probably her hairdresser is straightening her hair and applying a gel or lotion to reduce the frizz. It’s a good solution. I have the same type of hair.

      Delete
    21. My thoughts exactly....

      Delete
    22. Views are so different… imo her hairstyles are stellar, first time ever really contemporary modern, fresh and flattering. Such great looks on every outing.

      Delete
    23. This comes down to personal opinion. I for one love the look and it reminds me of Carole Bouquet in 007 movie For Your Eyes Only. It is also not always the hairdressers choice. I suspect it is what Kate herself wants to do with her hair. Keeping it silky smooth almost as with a brazilian blow wave, keeps the frizz away in this tropical weather. But I love her look.

      Delete
    24. I think her hairstyle has mostly been this way due to the humidity, I’m not sure if her hair ended up like this after being styled or she decided not to fight the humid conditions either way I agree her hair has not been her best. I love this ice blue dress in Kate.

      Delete
    25. I wonder if Amanda is trying to fight the humidity with extra product. I remember thr first royal tour after their wedding and her hair immediately became unruly from the heat and humidity. Battling the elements! Lol

      Delete
    26. I wonder if Amanda is using extra product in Kate'e hair due to the heat and humidity? I remember her hair became VERY curly during one of their first royal tours around September, 2012. Trying to battle the elements!

      Delete
    27. It’s funny how opinions can vary. I think her hair has looked fantastic on this trip—fresh, youthful and beachy. I think it’s never looked better and, considering the climate, the hairdresser definitely earned his or her keep on this trip.

      Delete
    28. Straight hair is not a desaster 😅 if you consider curly hair + humidity, you might understand. Her updo for the green evening gown was stunning, imo.

      Delete
    29. I have hair that frizzes in the hum it’s or rain so I think Catherine was very smart keeping it straight Otherwise people would say her hair looks messy. Magnificent dress. She looks stunning.

      Delete
    30. Definitely a departure from her side part and curls but I think it comes off as sleek and modern and just a different style. I liked it.

      Delete
    31. I totally agree. She is a maturing woman and the days of very long hair are no longer flattering. She is so absolutely gorgeous. The long straight hair simply does not match the fabulous gowns and accentuates her length. I think it is time for a change. A shoulder length cut would flatter her beautiful face and Look gorgeous. Long long hair ages a woman at a certain point and I see it here.

      Delete
    32. I’m pretty sure the weather has a lot to do with it. It’s so humid that anyones hair would be challenged.

      Delete
    33. It’s HOT and HUMID in the Caribbean year round. On top of that, it has been pouring down rain. How do you suggest she wear it? She looks great. She always looks great.

      Delete
    34. I could not agree with you more. Kate is very late in coming to the center part creation. It has been out and popular for well over a year. It is a style that is not friendly for many including Kate. Her hair which she is known for looks like it has not been cared for in days on this tour. It is such a distraction.
Who ever was the advanced team certainly got it wrong on so many levels not to mention the dress code in these poor countries. The New York Times today put this entire tour in prospective. They did not hold back.

      Delete
    35. I am thinking she might have had some botox or other hair treatment before the tour, knowing that her hair becomes unruly in the humidity.
While it be very sensible, I agree that the very straight, very long hair with a centre parting is a very severe look for Kate.

      Delete
    36. Wow USA Granny I find yours to be a particularly unkind comment. It’s hair for goodness sake, not exactly critical in the grand scheme of things. But everyone is going to have their own tastes, and that’s fine. I think her hair looks fabulous and has done for the entire trip. I welcome the change from the big bouncy curls - variety is the spice of life. And as others have pointed out, managing Kate’s hair in the Caribbean climate takes a ton of work so I say kudos to the hairdresser.

      Delete
    37. Granny 18:15, if you only understood how much time and effort went into making Kate's hair that sleek and smooth, in that climate, you would eat your words. I couldn't
disagree more with her hair looking unkempt. Kate didn't look a day over 30 in those pictures of them out racing the boats--straight hair or not. I thought her hair last night looked perfect with that gown. Any attention to her hair would have detracted from the gown. To me, it looked sleek and modern. Blow outs and bouncy curls look very early 2000, in my opinion. Although, I always think her hair looks terrific, curled or straightened, I'd love to see her go natural sometime. I understand, though, why she tries to control it. Letting naturally curly hair do it's own thing is risky--and a lot of work. Even more work than her current style, especially if you have a stylist on hand.

Is that the necklace she wore on their Poland trip? Some commentators said it was a Grace Kelly look and I thought it definitely was. Everyone is glammed up to the hilt for this reception, can't wait for photos of all the beautiful gowns. I did a cheap and cheerful trip to Freeport about 50 years ago where I ran out of money (I didn't have much to begin with) and ended up having to borrow the unexpected airport fee from another tourist in line to get back home to Montreal ;) Loved the Bahamian people, loved the island.

  11. This would be a great portrait dress. I just love it. Her slim figure is perfect for it -- can't wait to find out more about the necklace. Lovely!

  12. Her hairstylist is attempting to be on trend with the center part. I keep seeing hair articles that claim you look old/dated if you're using a side part. I think it would be a softer, nicer look for her with wavy hair and a center part. But maybe it's a fine line for her with her natural curls in the humid environment, and she's choosing sleek over curly. Either way, I've loved most of her tour looks. I think she is looking the most sophisticated and regal that I've ever seen her.

  14. So pretty! Prettiest dress of tour- and I really liked most of them.

  15. It is a different hairstyle than her usual. I was thinking she probably had some treatment done to her hair to keep it from getting frizzy. She has extremely thick, kinky curly hair if left on its own (see college pics of her) so I was thinking something was done at beginning of trip and they have kept it. Hot & humid in that area makes for hard to manage hair. Looks great to me! She looks young & fresh. Mine would be limp and flat.

Beautiful as ever in ice blue but I feel the bottom part of the dress is too full for Kate’s petite frame. Will certainly stepped up his game with the velvet dinner jacket. On whole a lovely note to end the tour.

  21. This is really pretty. I LOVE the necklace.

I know a lot of people don't like the straight hair, but I love it. Mostly because it looks fresher and more modern than the heavy curled look she has worn, especially over the last few months. I almost feel she is aging out of that look, and it is time to find a look that's more polished and sleek

I like the shape of the dress, the color but not the material...too brillant for me.

  31. Love all the pieces she wore today. Fresh and feminine.
However I've been thinking isn't there any other inspiration than the flags...? National flower, animal, tree, whatever? Feels like there is not much creativity behind these sartorial choices ‍♀️

  32. The satin dress fabric and color are a big miss for me. The lack of color washes out Catherine, and satin--that's a heavy, winter, cold-weather fabric, not a summery/Caribbean, fresh, lighter fabric. I just don't get a lot of these choices--just not sensible. It seems to me whoever is advising her re wardrobe is really out of touch with what's appropriate for where she's visiting. Glad William added comments regarding countries' right to decide their future.

  37. Charlotte the blog has been amazing for the tour. Thought I would just mention that 40 of the 54 Commonwealth countries do not have the Queen as head of state, so although Jamaica becoming a Republic is a very big deal for the country I suspect it is neither unexpected nor such a big deal for the Royal family. It will be interesting to see how the Presidential powers evolve once Jamaica is a Republic. I suspect there will be a very big increase in political power of the position and an exponential increase in cost. And the what if is also interesting - so what if slavery had not happened the majority of Jamaican people would not be there but living as Africans in West Africa and perhaps the country would belong to the original peoples.

  39. Dress bag and shoes are beautiful, but the jewellery? Wonderful with the motifs on the white dress, but here? i think Pearls. I don't even mind the hair - speculating on being short of time for a big do? Half up would have been nice, but hot humid weather - with that downpour - not conducive to the big wavy curls.

  41. I don't like this dress. Too much volume and she is drowning in all that fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Not a fan of that fussy jewelry. Why can't she leave the neckline bare? The dress is gorgeous but too princessy -- even though she is a princess.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've commented a lot on this tour, so I'll try to keep my remarks here to a minimum. I think this is a terrific dress -- sleek, simple, and sophisticated, very much to my personal taste. You don't see dresses in duchess satin all that often these days -- it's considered an old-fashioned fabric, it seems -- but I think its gleam and glam are all a dress needs to make a show-stopping impact. I considered whether perhaps a touch of glitter at the waist might have been a good idea, but I don't think so. The dress looks great without it.

My only caveats are that I don't think ice-blue is really the Duchess's shade. It's too pale; more intense blues flatter her coloring more. And I'm not crazy about this jewelry set, though it works better here than with the busy white and gold dress, which I've never liked.

I'm not a fan of really glitzy shoes. Period. A rhinestone buckle or strap, great, but all-over glitter or crystals just look tacky to me.

I wish the Duchess had worn her hair up. She's had trouble with it on this tour, probably because of the climate, but a sleeker chignon than the one she wore with the green Packham would have been just right, I think.

I'm sure the Cambridges are anxious to return home for a variety of reasons, but they're in for a real debriefing after this tour. There will be a lot to say and pick over, clearly.

    1. Although I like her hair like this (I, too, know what a job it is to fight the frizz in humid weather!), a sleek chignon would’ve really completed this look. I absolutely love the duchess satin…it looks so sumptuous, as Charlotte said. I think it’s her best evening look to date but I have to agree with you about icy blues not suiting her; it really washes her out. And the shoes…very Cinderella-ish & boy, are they pricey. I think she likes all-over glitter on stilettos but it’s not to my liking, either.

  44. It’s funny how opinions can vary. I think Kate’s hair has looked absolutely fantastic on this tour—fresh, beachy, young and very on trend. Considering the difficulties posed by a tropical climate, I’d say her hairdresser has more than earned his or her keep.

    1. I agree with you Mary B, aside from the middle part which I don't favor, I think she was smart to keep it simple. The hair looks healthy, trimmed and free of frizz, and out of her way. Would also agree the hairdresser earned their keep with the updos and the quick changes between events. I do however prefer a side part and her waves, but for this trip, it was smart and as always photographed very well. Even her makeup was more fresh an carefree, she really is a beautiful woman.

  45. Simply put, the duchess looked stunning. I can’t imagine spending much of the day greeting crowds in the pouring rain, then spending even more rainy hours sailing in a regatta, then somehow ending the day looking like a goddess. Wow!

  46. Objectively I have some issues with each of her evening gowns and should not like them. But somehow I loved all three. They just seemed to work. I would love for Kate to include more of Phillipa Lepley’s designs in her wardrobe.

    1. Me, too! I love this dress…it’s so sleek & regal - perfection! I do hope that we see more of her designs on Kate in the future.

  47. The addition to William's speech is exactly the tone with which the tour should have started. I'm thinking that may be the Queen's philosophy. It would be a good philosophy to apply tp family members of the RF. When people are angry and want a change, they must be allowed to do so, whether it is a nation or an individual.

    1. It was the Queen's philosophy and it was applied to family members who wished to change, they were not held back and were allowed to so, and they have. I think in the case of this royal tour, it was the Queen's philosophy to not hold back any country within the Commonwealth, it just wasn't spoken, and it should have been from the onset. It seems a little like all are cross purposes.

  48. Love the dress and the jewelry but as previous poster said not a fan of the hair. The flat center part is just not becoming on her. A pulled back low braid or bun would’ve been much more attractive.

  49. What a busy schedule! And sometimes with a 'taste' of unpredictable weather...Despite what some reporters say I think Catherine & William are doing a great job! We can see they're genuinely enjoying being in community events and I like to see people's life in these countries, their habits and traditions. I definitely like some images and views of the scenery.. Spectacular! If I could, I'd go on holiday tomorrow... Regarding Catherine's outfits: all beautiful of course, but my fav. is the J.Peckham emerald green gala gown, absolutely stunning. The hairstyles can be improved, but I think it's not easy when abroad and with the heat/humid. Look forward to see the last engagements today.

    1. I'm with you Stella, in spite of what narrative the reporters which to keep in the wheelhouse, there were definite positives from this tour. William and Catherine DID do a fabulous job and if anything my admiration for them has grown. What they weren't prepared to face, they did so with class and dignity and if it bothered them, they didn't show it. Even if the NY Times says William was 'po-faced' about the Jamaican PM comments, that was not my take away and they maintained a positive attitude with smiles and welcomes for all they met. Catharine's outfits were all beautiful and I am wavering between which evening look was my favorite, the JP or the smashing look last night. While not a fan of the middle part, she stepped out and up to her responsibilities with poise and sincerity. I have no criticisms or nit-picks, think they've been pretty well picked to pieces. They have strength of character and I admire that.

    2. I agree completely. Of course the USA has had colonial territories too so the New York Times is hypocritical in commenting on William looking uncomfortable. It quite unfair to
concentrate on the British Royal Family for supporting slavery. Those of us descended from European settlers should share the guilt and not try to scapegoat others, especially the younger generation. We all need to apologise for how our ancestors have treated indigenous peoples and kidnapped and enslaved others to benefit from their labour. We should all be encouraging our governments to pay compensation to their descendents.

  50. Whoa. Love the ice blue dress. It looks like something Princess Grace or Audrey Hepburn would have worn. Lovely.

  51. Wow, the Duchess looks fabulous in this gown and jewelry! I’ve liked a lot of her gowns/dresses on this tour. Another lovely look on her was the yellow Jamaican arrival dress. Charlotte, your coverage has been well done as always and I enjoy reading all of the interesting facts of each stop. Thanks for all your hard work writing this blog!

  52. I love the shoes and expect we will see them again in the future! I think a few large single diamonds would have been a better necklace -- something new and plain rather than older and intricate. I do like the dress very much -- very classic. I like the "flat" hair too.

  53. Beautiful dress. Catherine looks wonderful. The entire look from jewelry, hair and shoes works for me. I might have chosen different jewelry but only because my personal preferences are a bit different.

  54. Catherine's gown is stunning, the colour, draping of the the skirt just beautiful - my new favourite on the tour. The shoulder bows add interest, the drape of the bodice draw the eye to Kate's wonderful décolletage. IMO the simple gold and mother of pearl jewellery is a cunning way of adding a touch of warmth to all the cool tones, while not overpowering the dress. And those shoes - wow!
I'm in the group who really likes Kate's straight, smooth hair. I find it very flattering, simple and youthful.
As representatives of the Queen they have done an outstanding job.

  55. What a stunning gown and the color is beautiful. Dss Kate wears it well. I believe both are happy to return to the UK, this was a long week of smiling shaking hands and take some abuse from the Demonstrators, which I did not think was fair to them. The world is changing, and the people with it, but not for the better sadly. I wish they could have taken the children and show them different customs.

  56. Charlotte, I am a long time reader and fan of your blog. I hope you are well. You are doing a fantastic job and I am wondering when you are sleeping. I have to say though that some of the blog comments have had a more biting tone than in the past. One of the things I love about the blog is that it feels like a positive community of other royal fans. Some of the current posts don't feel that way.

  57. Absolutely stunning. The Duchess looks beautiful. The Duke looked very handsome as well.... And well dressed. I love mother of pearl and I like the jewellery worn. I think that brand is highly overpriced. When I first saw them worn I thought maybe a gift from Prince Charles. Charlotte thank you for all your hard work during this tour, very much appreciated. The Duchess definitely brought it but so did you. S. ☺

  58. My 2-cents...from head to toe, it's a well styled ensemble. I like the straight hair, center part here. While the Van Clief and Arpels work I agree that the 4 pearl necklace and earrings she wore in Paris/Poland would have worked as well. How amazing that the clutch fabric looks like it's the same fabric. But lastly, while the heels are lovely how could she warrant $2,500? Would it have mattered if she had on the ODLR shiny heels, or the Jimmy Choo sparklies, or even the Blue/Silver Ombre? Not to mention the sliver heels worn in Belize. When comparing the gown on the model to Kate - Kate wore it best.

And agreed (with some of you) that this look of the three gowns was the best. Loved the fuchsia gown in Belize but wish maybe she had gone with a high, sleek pony tail or an elaborate braid(s) on the side. The green princess gown, with HM's emerald jewelry and the Royal Family Order and the GCVO Star and updo was fitting.

  60. Loving this speech from the British Royal family as spoken by William ,

"With Jamaica celebrating 60 years of independence this year, and Belize celebrating 40 years of independence last year, I want to say this: We support with pride and respect your decisions about your future. Relationships evolve. Friendship endures."

What a gracious and wonderful speech by William. Acknowledging their moving on and talking about the enduring friendship. Wonderful. A true King.

  62. They are so, so classy. This has undoubtedly been a hard tour with the changing climates but they handled it with grace. The UK is very lucky to have Will and Kate.

  63. This is absolutely one of the most classic glamour looks I have ever seen her wear. It might have knocked the black lace Temperley out of first place. Regal, confident, sophisticated. I hope she wears it again. It’s simple and perfect.

  64. Thankyou Charlotte for all the research and interesting information about a part of the world I have not been fortunate enough to visit. In many ways your blog is a real educational tool as well as giving us a chance to express our own tastes and suggestions for Catherine's dress styles and other matters. It certainly takes my mind off my own anxieties including the current pandemic. The news seems so gloomy nowadays so the current tour was a welcome distraction!

  65. Welp... the ice blue returneth. Beautiful dress though. Great for a future state dinner too. I have always hated this necklace and earring set although it is I'm sure very expensive. Too modern for my taste. I wish Kate had gotten a pearl or diamond necklace from HM for this dress. The chandelier earrings she has worn in the past would look great with this gown too.
