William and Kate travelled to nearby Panbari village where took a walk in the picturesque tea garden.
Kate received a very warm welcome from a young girl in the village.
It was a lovely moment.
Rebecca English shared a photo of an adorable little girl waiting to meet William and Kate. When Rebecca took her photo she was so excited to see her picture on the phone, she blew herself kisses. :)
The Duke and Duchess met the community.
Kate told elders at the village that she and William left Prince George at home not because of the heat but because he is "too naughty". The couple joked he would be "running around" the village and promised to bring him and Charlotte with them the next time they visit India.
The Duchess told children at a village in the wildlife park that she was "sad" because she was missing her children. She said that seeing little girls dancing in the village reminded her of Princess Charlotte.
Kate was shown a traditional weaving loom.
Next, they visited the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation. The centre provides emergency care and rehabilitation to wild animals that have been injured, displaced, or orphaned. With a strong re-release rate of 60%, it has rehabilitated thousands of animals including hand-raised elephants, rhinos, and bears.

The Duke and Duchess met young filmmakers who are members of Green Hub, a project that teaches film-making as a vocational skill to young people across Northeast India.
William and Kate thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the animals. The centre is also home to rescued leopards which sadly cannot be re-released from the site and have to be rehomed in sanctuaries and zoos in other locations, mainly in India. William and Kate were thrilled to be given the opportunity to feed the animals.

After visiting CWRC, the Duke and Duchess travelled across the road to the Kaziranga Discovery Centre, which was built by Elephant Family, the charity founded by Mark Shand, late brother of the Duchess of Cornwall. Elephant Family has funded over 150 field projects since they began and are currently active in six of the 13 elephant range states: India, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Malaysia. They are committed to putting the Asian elephant on the map, influencing and engaging governments and corporations, and powering the best in-country conservation projects.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall share a joint presidency of Elephant Family. Writing about her brother and Elephant Family co-founder, Mark Shand, in The Times newspaper on 11 September, the day of his memorial, the Duchess talks of Mark’s extraordinary legacy: "A legacy which as co-presidents of Elephant Family, my husband and I will strive to fulfil. They say elephants never forget, Tara never forgot him and neither will we." Tara is one of the most famous Asian elephants in the world and the heroine of Mark Shand’s epic tale Travels on My Elephant. He bought Tara and his bond with her inspired him to set up Elephant Family.
William and Kate put the finishing touches on an elephant sculpture to officially mark the ‘call for artists’ for India’s elephant parade, which will see 200 elephants decorated by artists and placed in 200 locations across India by the Elephant Family. These parades have previously been staged in London, Edinburgh and New York.

It was an absolutely fantastic day. One of the reasons I love royal tours so much is the complete contrast of events. One day there's a glittering gala and another a day like today. Combining the breathtaking scenery of Kaziranga with William and Kate's incredibly warm greeting from locals, and of course feeding the elephants and rhinos, provided photos which will be looked at for many, many years to come. This has been a fantastic royal tour thus far! William and Kate will enjoy a little down time this evening following a hectic few days - most likely a private dinner and perhaps a stroll to take in the scenery.
Tomorrow the Bhutan leg of the tour kicks off; below a quick recap of Kate's looks in India. Kate chose a red printed bespoke McQueen dress, a colourful print Anita Dongre look, and a sparkling sapphire-blue Jenny Packham for day one. It was ivory Emilia Wickstead and the Temperley London Delphia crop top and maxi skirt for day two. The third day of the trip saw Kate donning three beautiful dress: the Red and Navy Glamorous Maxi Dress, the green lace Temperley London Desdemona, and the colourful print Anna Sui Maxi Dress. Today, Kate started the day off in a RM Williams shirt and Zara Pants before changing into the Topshop Embroidered Smock Dress.

- A visit to Thimphu's open-air archery venue.

I also believe a lot of us might be quite tetchy if we received the sort of "helpful advice" we sometimes dole out. Some of what I read here occasionally reminds me of those passive-aggressive family members and friends in our lives who say they "mean well" when they "share" how we could improve ourselves. Half of what they offer is "mean" and usually doesn't go down "well" at all. Real balloon prickers, those.

I agree with Philly. How would we weigh-in as a community when we don't have a unified position? I happen to like the wedges. To me they represent an upscale informality; especially in a warm climate. I can walk in high heels, it's standing in one spot for a prolonged period that hurts. I'll critique hair, dress, styling but never shoes. I'm all for the DoC wearing what is comfortable for her no matter how many times she has worn them.
DeleteDuchesa, I appreciate your attempt to build some solidarity; it's been missing here. I've always liked ballet flats and I've got some great pairs in different colors and even a fabric print. And I love clunky man style shoes with narrow slacks. But I concede not everyone likes that look! :)

I met new people here, good or bad, I see people wishing to a relative stranger a lovely day, birthday, getting better. DeleteThanks to those in support! I'll admit, I had to sigh and seriously contemplate whether I would bother rebutting, or in fact bother commenting at all anymore after reading some of the negative replies, the tone of which imo were unnecessarily "mean" and don't seem to have "gone down well".
DeleteHowever, whether I like it or not, it is a natural inclination for the lawyer in me to respond when my non-passive aggressive, genuinely expressed idea is attacked with such hostility, which Charlotte may relate to.
I am responding so that others will never second guess their expression of ideas.
A community, by it's most basic definition, is a group of people with a common interest. The people who post here (generally) have an 'interest' in Catherine's fashion (whether in the negative or positive, in agreement or disagreement) - a common interest theme, hence a community...
Also, as suggested by many of you, the foundation of my suggestion was with reference to last year's exercise this community engaged in to find the Duchess alternative casual wear, etc (if my memory serves me correctly this was in response to some people's exhaustion over blue jeans and striped tops). On a semi-related note, that group of people would have formed a sub-community, and what great ideas they generated (one of which the has Duchess worn)!
When I saw the wedges again, I had a gut feeling there would likely be some strong views on the stagnant evolution of the Kate Wedge since their repeated appearances from 2011...
There was indeed some dry humour attached to the predictability of a wedge outcry, so nice spotting 0416!
If we can't share some solidarity in a forum like this, that is troubling to me. After all, let's get some perspective here, I didn't suggest me march on KP wielding torches and wedge-alternatives or pedicure vouchers (humour again).
As someone who lives in a very hot and humid temperature for most of the year, I can say sometimes the thought of a closed in wedge as a shoe choice would be like wrapping your feet in alfoil (aluminum foil for our North American readers), so my suggestion to find some sandal ideas was geographically founded too.
Although, it seems the 'ayes' have it, I'll "butt out" now. Ultimately, it is up to Charlotte to decide whether my suggestion is implemented.
I hope all of you will always fearlessly make suggestions in this forum and others :)

I found it interesting that it was confirmed Kate is using Natasha as a stylist before this tour I would have instructed Kate to fire her because she has been guiding Kate to wear some pretty awful clothes as of late like that floral erderm and that grey coat
However this tour seems to brought Kate back to wearing fashionable clothes again so it seems either Kate is starting to pick out her own clothes again or Natasha is becoming better at her job!

We are hoping to go to India later this year so I've been watching William & Kate's progress with interest. Although I'm grateful that I won't have the world's eyes in my every move and every fashion choice. I think they both look lovely today and a bit more relaxed that the hectic last few days. Kate's dress today looks perfect, something I would have chosen myself for the visit to the wildlife sanctuary.

I think we can now see how much planning goes into these trips and how the logistics of it all is so important - what to wear and when plus working in times to change and when to have a break. They will have to have read up on all the groups they were going to meet and then try to remember everything. I should imagine they'll be having a good sleep on the plane on the way back to UK. Interesting that we haven't seen much of her secretary on this trip but now doubt she will be very busy behind the scenes.

ReplyDeleteCharlotte I can't thank you enough for the wonderful blog. First of all what a pretty little girl with all her bangles. Iconic photo. Another win for me in the dress stakes. Like the colour, patterns and the length. Slightly different look again and a bit out of the comfort zone for our Duchess. The dress looked good with the updo. Haven't they been lucky with the weather. Rain predicted in the next day or so. Might I ask, what was being woven? It looked interesting. I am going to so enjoy going over the blog once this week is over and looking up and learning new things about Indian and all the little things mentioned in the blog and some of the posts. I also hope Courtney is feeling better each day.
ReplyDeletealimai Assam is famous for its silk weaving usually traditional cloths for scarves, traditional clothes like those the dancers & villagers were wearing, household linen etc. They also weave cloth for religious ceremonies. We've been to Kazirangi NP & there's a small weaving cottage industry on the edge of it run by a woman called Rupjyoti Siaka Gogoi. It provides a source of income for local women & girls who really need the support as they usually leave school when they're 10-12 years old. There aren't enough photos to be able to tell for sure but I did wonder whether they were there. The woven cloth they produce is very good quality & I bought lots of traditional scarves & fabric to bring back as presents.

DeleteI know that this is going to invoke some real criticism for my fellow readers, so I apologize in advance. I do not mean to be unkind but I have to say that I am disappointed with Kate's choices this tour. I agree with the nod to the host country and am aware of the British relationship with India but in my opinion one or two Indian inspired outfits would have been plenty. I guess it will come as no surprise then that my favorite outfit has been the cream dress, flaps and all. The others are all fine on their own but the constant Indian theme is starting to look more like a costume than the fashion of a young British princess. II am prepared for disagreement and that's OK. Thank you Charlotte. I don't know how you manage to get these posts up so quickly!
ReplyDeleteI actually don't agree. The times she has worn more traditional looking clothes were when meeting street children, people from the slums and people living "more in nature". I think it is very respectful of her to in their precense wear more traditional clothing and save her more "western" stuff for the city. I might be way off, so hope I don't insult anyone. Someone from India can obviously correct me if I'm wrong but I think that traditional clothing is more common in the rural areas or the slum while more "westernized" clothing is popular in cities? Is that right? And if it's so, it makes sense for Kate to adapt her style to that. In my opinion ofc.

Kate has done a marvelous job with her clothing this tour. Her job is to showcase British fashion and she has done so by including all aspects of British fashion ( high end, high street, etc.) She has also managed to pay homage to her host country by adopting a theme and including designers in clothing, jewellery and beading. Impressively she has managed to navigate the diversity of India with her clothing choices. Kudos to her and her team, although I did read that she takes the lead in the clothing department. Diplomatically it looks like the couple have also been a success.

I actually agree with you. One or two outfits is fine but it's starting to seem costumey. It's a bit of overkill in my opinion. Her clothes are amazing and she looks amazing in them and I appreciate what she is trying to do, but it may have been one bohemian look too many.

DeleteThe maxi dresses in the evenings are surely sensible as well as pretty and I can see her wearing them in evenings at home, when they have guests for supper.
There are many such dresses in the shops at the moment, so someone is expecting a warm summer, or more likely to take on holidays in warmer places.
Of course people can have different opinions but just imagine if she had turned up in a village in a designer dress with sheath skirt (so it doesn't blow up) and high heels, clutch purse etc. We certainly wouldn't have seen her crouching on the floor or sitting cross legged with the children. Think of those high heels in the mud - it boggles my imagination! She and William were there to meet people not just to wear nice outfits. On the other hand it doesn't hurt anyone if we want to imagine what we would have decided to wear in a similar situation. We shouldn't feel too bad about our views being different. It would be so boring if we all thought the same way and even more if she agreed with us. Then we'd have nothing much to talk about!

DeleteThat being said, I don't think it would have been at all appropriate - and, in fact, highly insensitive, of Kate to parade around in $5,000 frocks and $1500 pumps and precious gemstone earrings, while many of the people they are meeting, particularly the children, don't have enough to eat or clean running water or proper sanitation.
I applaud Kate and William and their handlers for being alert and aware to this, we see Kate wearing costume jewelry earrings and less-expensive shoes and less expensive dresses and that's absolutely appropriate.
She has some eyelet and cotton dresses from previous tours that, given her weight loss, she certainly could have fit into and still have been stylish, sensitive, appropriate and cool.
A lot of people have wondered why she didn't don a sari. I would expect she and William and the Palace are trying to avoid comparisons with Diana, who famously wore a sari on a couple of different occasions, including when she was wooing Pakistani surgeon Hasnat Khan.
Overall, I think she's done well.

And while they probably need it, it will probably give them more time to start missing the kids. When everything is going full speed it's not much time to miss but when it calms down like it seems this evening, it might be a bit harder!

Royal tours are hard work Royal watcher, no doubt about it! I remember a correspondent saying prepping for tours with Prince Charles was like training for a marathon because of the insane pace Charles kept on tour. W&K are definitely holding their own so far, good for them.

Seeing William and Kate with the animals you know they are definitely in their element. How cool would it be to feed a baby rhino and elephant? George and Charlotte will love seeing pictures of Dad and Mum feeding and walking with the animals. Absolutely wonderful engagement!

Speaking of the DoC's clothing, I read a NDTV article written by Shobhaa De, a Indian popular culture columnist, who thinks Kate has been dressing way too conservatively for modern day Indian society. She writes that Kate is dressing more like she is in conservative Middle East than India. Only an opinion piece but interesting.
Thank you for mentioning the article. I am interested in reading it. 10 years ago, I was in India studying. I lived with a local family. What they explained to me is that it is respectful to dress more conservatively in more rural and impoverished areas than in urban areas. Of course this was their own analysis of the different contexts and analysis of what's appropriate can easily change from person to person.
DeleteCatherine has such a difficult task picking attire for a tour like this one. I think, for the most part, she has walked a narrow line very well. There is simply no way to please everyone.

For all the tireless effort they are putting in, Kate could have worn a paper bag (as long as it was one not chosen by Natasha) lol, and I wouldn't have cared. What they are doing is very giving, and not without risk. They make it look easy but I doubt that it is, even with all the teamwork that goes into it.

ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful dress but I wish she had chosen some neutral earth tone colors for this particular event. It was windy again and thank god the duchess didn't have any embarrassing moments. I really feel that she should try some lose flowy pants in such occassions. Nevertheless the duchess looked very beautiful and they both loved being there it seems.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that's really annoying is the constant shuttering noise of the shutterbugs. Why do so many have to go along and why do all of them have to be in such close range? it's kind of making them feel awkward and not natural when they are surrounded by so many photogs. Unbelievable!
Good grief. Look what happened when they only took one photographer to the ski trip! Heaven forbid they should restrict how many cameras go along. This is an official trip, for the British government. I doubt W&K have any say over the media coverage. Its part of the job and from what I can see, it doesn't look like Kate or William are particularly intimidated by it. Personally, after the awful coverage by the DM this week, I'd be giving Rebecca English the very cold shoulder. Did you see her headline today about the animal feeding event? "It's Duchess Dolittle: feeding a baby rhino...." Talk about disrespectful - it's downright bullying. I just don't understand people.
DeleteActually quite often it is the editor who chooses the headline so probably Rebecca wasn't responsible for the Dolittle title. I was curious and looked up the article and it didn't criticise Catherine at all. I think maybe the Daily Mail readership is inclined to be anti establishment and so the editors cater to that group. I'm sure the royals know that.

DeleteCharlotte would know for sure; however, on royal duty I believe it's required. It's required of guests to Buck House, too. I suspect that the custom will end with the present monarch's reign.
DeleteAt one time it was also required of all teachers and nurses here in Canada no matter how hot it got. Respectable women (especially those who counted themselves as part of even a small town "upper class" wore them as it was considered to be quite improper to go without when in public unless they were at the beach or outdoors. I don't know about the rest of the Commonwealth or the USA, I'd be interested to hear.
My elementary school teachers would never have been seen without stockings. By the end of the 60s when the bohemians took over from the "Mad Men" set, all that changed. Some of my high school teachers dressed as if they'd stepped off the set of Easy Rider. But I digress.
And yes, tights in India's heat is crazy-torture.

DeleteI thought so too, but in the wilderness, if one has to wear skirts, may be preventive of biting insects? At the museum and mosque, some people walk in naked bare feet, some coverage is not a bad idea for comfort and any thing else. She wore stockings at the museum too. Such personal choices might have practical reasons for the person who wears them. Fashion protocol and style are not necessarily forgiving if and when they don't want to.

ReplyDeleteThe Indian columnist who was linked suggested that a nice linen suit would have been more appropriate for the first day than the red peplum dress. Perhaps the bohemian theme has been a bit overdone. But the clothing for the different events has worked well, in a practical sense, other than the unfortunate cream dress.
It will be very interesting to see the Cambridges in Bhutan.
Personally I refrained from commenting because that bright red reinforced to me the source of accident, fire. I wished she wore some mellow color, but bright red. Kate might have a reason for wearing bright color clothes in memorials of disaster aftermath. Her choice was bright pink for 9,11/New York World Trade Center.

DeleteThank you for sharing it. It is written very much in Kate’s defense in the name of women’s privacy. Still, it is not a balanced view point. The writer could have acknowledged that human beings as spectators have a reasonable right to react when some incidents have become a case of consistent coincidence, bad luck or lack of proper planning especially attending a solemn and historical ceremony. Given the fact that, case in point is public figures of the present times with every available resource in every way, people’s reaction is understandable. It can range from tough love, to a standard critic, or outrage and annoyance when it is one too many times. The writer has to remember the average person or a famous person is not given too many chances of the same mistake again and again and again. They probably measure it in that balance of fairness.

DeleteCenturies ago like the Queen on her beloved ship travelled at a different pace and never had to adjust to nowadays jet lag etc. She had her "home" and her bed with her, enjoyed the freedom of privacy while travelling. Today it is extremely packed, quick and exhausting. Travelling often with media and buyers for a week long tour your only privacy is 4-5 hours in your hotel room. They have team and hosts humming around them, updating, briefing, talking, foto, change of cloth, jewel and hair.....imagine Kate needing a hair dresser in the morning etc... that is at least another 1/2 hour up earlier... Taff job and I think they can only do it as they are a strong pair together - like the Queen and her husband....
ReplyDeleteThey are doing well I guess despite that it seems from some of the photos that they are not drawing growds (security?) and just do official appointment in as less time as needed. I loved some of the dress choices and loved out loud when reading the cristic by the indian columnist. Yes, she is write in some aspects. Like today: Slacks or femal chinos would be so welcomed instead of the skinny stretch jeans... More classic and classy safari style, more "youth" in general and skip the real high heels! No need to ruin the feet..and how can you walk with the sandals on the grass during the garden party?????????? She is quite british in style and I would love more "italian" or "french" savoir vivre and elegance elements and some naughty accessoires...
The Queen was also gone for months at a time when her children were small. I bet if you asked they'd rather pack things in during a one-week trip.
DeleteJust wanted to say how beautiful Catherine looks on this tour. However, as they are dealing with very warm temps, a 100% polyester dress seems a mistake. Otherwise, the couple are certainly troopers. The fatigue must be so difficult.

ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the young lady giving the DofC a great big Hug. Kate looked so pleased. Clearly this event was entirely in their element and they enjoyed it so much. Nice to see them looking less tired. When they arrived for the safari this morning, I wasn't sure if either of them were awake. Bless their hearts.
I'm OK with the dress. It's not my favorite of the trip, but still lovely and perfect for spending time in the village.
Some have mentioned that perhaps the local-style outfits have been overdone. I tend to disagree and think that the casual looks she has worn have been perfect for every event. She looks casual yet maintains her style as a Royal.

DeleteWhat a wonderful day from start to finish. The video of them feeding the baby rhinos and elephant calves is priceless. So glad they paid tribute to Mark Shand. He was a remarkable man. I loved the pictures of Kate and the young village girl. Also having tea with the staff. It looked like a fantastic adventure for them.
ReplyDeleteKate gets an A+ for all her beautiful wardrobe choices so far. She has been looking just perfect in every way. What a beautiful soul she is, inside and out. William scores high points too. They are a gorgeous, loving couple, and an incredible asset to Queen and Country.
First of all I love the engagement, all the children, the wonderful picture of Kate with the girl, the precious animals (so sad they can't go out in the wild, but at least they are cared for.) Delightful all the way around and fun for William and Kate.
ReplyDeleteFashion on the safari - predictable Kate - wrinkly jeans, dull shirt, (have yet to understand why she can't pick cuter shirts - there are so many at reasonable prices) Sebago dockers. (I like them although I expected heavier shoes - still with the heat, a good choice if she didn't have much walking.) Meh - but it's a safari and her choice is a perfectly practicable one. I liked the way she had her hair pulled back.
The afternoon dress - well, I was glad she changed into something with more eye-appeal when meeting people and it is a pretty, pleasant, comfortable dress but I confess I'm getting boho fatigue. This is the fourth dress in four days with this sort of look. It was striking on the first day, sensible when she was sitting on the floor (and the prettiest of the lot) starting to get a bit much with the forty shades of green, although it still was nice, and this is okay, but it would be fun now to have a little more variety.
I sometimes buy old saris to make skirts out of, and there is much more variation in prints than Kate is showing. Even if she wanted to stay with cotton for comfort, there is still Madras and other patterned cottons that would be a bit more eye catching. Both she and the look are starting to seem a bit wilted. Her hair style seemed sensible for the heat.
So I'm hoping for something with a bit more spark on the last couple of days - we had some great choices on the first couple - and time to liven things up.
Thought it might be nice for Kate to shake things up tomorrow, but not this much! Understand there was an earthquake they may have felt. Hope no one was injured at the epicentre but fear may be otherwise. With the horrible fire in India too, tragedy is so near the happiness we feel with the tour. I experienced an earthquake in California -didn't like it at all.

I must say enough boho dresses for me too - unbelievable how kate can choose a theme and stick to it. The only realy stellar look for me was the Jade Reception Dress from yesterday. But she looks nice all the time and i also like her hair up. How elegant can you look whilst feeding an elephant or walking. Such grace she has.

I love this dress and it seemed to suit what she was doing well and create lovely shots. The earlier outfit was a disappointment. The shirt was bland and baggy, the pants practical I suppose but not great.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed a lot of comments mention the warm weather - actually, in Assam at this time of year, it is generally not too hot until it becomes monsoon season. I've visited and it actually got pretty cold often at night, and we even required comforters when sleeping!

ReplyDelete1. Firstly I teared up thinking about how excited they would be showing that video of them feeding the baby animals to their little boy back home. I imagine they are telling his caregivers to show him that video tonight. Kids love animals so much. . .and this point of reference would have been a strong emotional connection across the sea. I have two little ones who are the same ages as Kate's and I put myself in their shoes, across the world from your little ones, and how you would be thinking of them at poignant and interesting experiences like this.
2. I'll weigh in on the debate of the "costume-y" feel to many of her dresses. I would rather her had worn a silk sari, and a salwar outfit (tunic & pants) once or twice than all these "almost-there-but-not-quite" outfits. . .and then also had her wear her signature style that makes her Kate--and what locals would want to see as well. The traditional Indian outfits would have most appropriate a couple of times during this tour. . . (a) they would have avoided that "windy-oh-my" scene , b) and a salwar outfit would be more comfortable sitting on the ground than the outfit today. When I was in many years ago I wore an amethyst purple silk sari, and a sapphire blue salwar outfit. One day when I was in the market with a native friend of mine, she told they were saying "Oh, looks there goes Princess Diana." It made me laugh. I look nothing like her other than blue eyes and fair skin. . .but oh what a complement. :) Side Note: Princess Diana did embrace native dress on several occasions.
3) As mentioned in the comment above this dress made sitting on the ground look a bit awkward. Also, the waist does not hit her right. I also would not want to be wearing heels when feeding those rather large animal babies:) The outfit could definitely have been improved today. Again, I'm surprised this dress made the "cut" for this tour; especially this event.
Kate looks lovely today as she has for most of this trip. Might have something to do with the fact she is wearing outfits that are more colourful. Hope she keeps this up once she returns to the UK because it is certainly more flattering.
ReplyDeleteI have just read that William and Catherine experienced an earthquake in Assam on Wednesday evening. Apparently it was centered in Myanmar and there were no injuries reported in Assam.

ReplyDeleteRegarding boho-fatigue: I think that since the people on day 4 did not see the boho dresses in person on days 1 - 3, the boho style was still appropriate for the people Kate was actually meeting. Yes, this is a sudden cascade of that style, but they're all the rage and I predict we haven't seen the last of them in the stores and online this summer. I like this style. But I admit it is a lot nostalgia, since this was a style I wore well when I was in my twenties.
That said, today's version was very pretty. Someone else said they didn't like black trim with pink, but I do like it, very much. The extreme contrast is very effective for showcasing the trim and giving a maturity to all the pink which can otherwise be too juvenile in many cases, especially if it were trimmed in a more neutral color.
Good point, Marci. It's the blog addicts with the boho-fatigue. Not getting the same rush from it as the first hit. The people who are meeting her are seeing her for the first time and likely don't have the previous clothing choices top of mind when they see her.

ReplyDeleteI have been so impressed with Kate's interaction with the children and the animals. What a fun, but exhausting trip this must be for them. Kate's body language speaks volumes to me. She appears to be much more comfortable in her current role. Her mega watt smile doesn't hurt either.
If you forget the fabric and embellishment on Catherine's dresses and look at the cut and length of them I think she has found a style which work for her. She looks elegant and relaxed in them. Think how many of the Queens outfits have stuck to a basic cut and you would never think of her as frumpy. A signature style is all you need.
ReplyDeleteI liked today's looks. Just liked, didn't particularly love. The ethnic-themed maxi dresses are starting to look a little tired and costumelike and Kate almost looked older than her husband in the green frock, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteIf she wanted heat-appropriate dresses, I would have thought she would have brought some of her dresses from the Asian tour back or from the Australia tour. Most of those were wool crepe but there were a couple of darling eyelet dresses that would have been entirely appropriate and cool.
I think pants and a blouse would have been more appropriate for walking among and feeding the animals but that's just me and I definitely wouldn't have worn the Bala moccasins to go on a Jeep safari, even as guarded and protected as they are.
Kate puzzles me. There are times when she seems absolutely 100 percent engaged and involved and hands-on, then there are times when she acts like she's too refined to participate, we saw that when William made the Indian dessert at the science event and again today at these events. She just didn't appear to be as engaged as she has been for the other events.
Truthfully, the schedule seems almost too hectic and too jampacked. They really don't have enough time to spend on any one event before they are rushed away and that's unfortunate. I know it's partly due to security and partly due to working as many groups and events into the time allotted and having a short tour but it seems very hurried.

ReplyDeleteHopefully someone has some information about this--I'm just curious and concerned, why one of the elephants that is photographed has a chain around its right front ankle. I noticed it on another Kate blog as well. I didn't see this around any other of the animals. Why would they do that? It just bothers me to see those kinds of things and I wouldn't understand why in a park where they are suppose to be free to roam, this elephant has a chain around the ankle. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThey train them not to wander by doing that. After they have worn that for awhile they can remove it because the elephant has been trained and thinks the chain is still there when it isn't.

ReplyDeleteThe dress Kate had on today is not one of my favourites! Glad she is wearing the Accessorize earrings again and the Pied a Terre Imperia wedges as I have both and will hopefully keep wearing mine for years also.
