Two New Videos Continue Shaping Us Campaign

The Princess of Wales has released two new videos as part of her new early years campaign 'Shaping Us'. In the first, Kate took the opportunity to thank well-known faces for supporting the initiative, including Love Island's Zara McDermott, presenter and author Fearne Cotton, much-loved podcaster and author Giovanna Fletcher, and others who are spreading the message. Kate said: "Our early childhood shapes the adults we become."

You might recognise Kate's blue dress in the video.

The Princess wore the piece for a busy day of engagements in Northern Ireland in 2019. The rich blue bespoke Jenny Packham creation is an elegant piece.

Kate accessorised with her SHYLA London Biaritz earrings.

In a new video released today, we saw more from Kate's visit to St John's CE school in Bethnal Green where she chatted with little ones about important people in their lives. The Princess asked about teddies and met "Barnaby Bear". Kate showed the children her claymation film following Layla from 0-5: "The film talks about how all the grown ups in your lives are very important."

Kate wore a green Burberry blouse with black trousers and matching pumps. The piece is thought to be a bespoke creation. The piece comes in cream and is available at Farfetch.

Kate wore her £79 Spells of Love Alia hoops.

I'll leave you with a look at the Shaping Us campaign lighting up Piccadilly Circus.

  2. On a purely sartorial note, it's nice to see the blue dress again. It's a good one.
Also, is she wearing her blouse back to front? Look at the cuff buttons. She's done this before with tie-neck tops and I'm not sure why!

  3. A second video, she has been a very busy Lady this week. That shade of green is beautiful on The Princess. It really suits her. Nice to see people talking pictures in Piccadilly Circus . I think it has been a very successful week for her, the media coverage has been fantastic for this cause. The children she is trying to make sure have the best start in life are our future. Charlotte, do you know what will be coming next from the Princess? S 🙂.

  4. I have been reading a lot of the comments this week and I want to address all the criticism and disappointment. I know some people don't understand why some are disappointed, but from my point of view it is due to the fact Kate made a big deal out of this. Kate made it sound like this unveiling was going to be something huge that would revolutionize how we look at the early years and make a change. She deemed it her life's work. But when her Shaping Us came out this week it fell flat to some because it was more just awareness and the need to talk about early years. Now Don't get me wrong, I think highlighting a cause and visiting centers that help is great and honestly I think that is what royals are supposed to do. However, that is what Kate has been doing for the last 10 years and so this campaign was supposed to be something new and it is the same old thing. I think that is why so many of us felt disappointed. I know this is a slow burn and things take time. But again, this is the same thing she was doing 10 years ago. Something more should have happened in that time if she is going to make a big unveiling like this. I hope more will come out in time, but sadly it is more of the same right now. To me, I feel like Kate is wanting to seem busy without being busy. I know people say she does stuff behind the scenes, but the court circular counts everything (even phone calls). The fact remains, she has a lot of time off. Her children are in school, she has a housekeeper to do the cleaning, a nanny and other help. She could be doing more and sadly isn't. That goes for William as well. For me personally, that is why I have started to lose interest in Will and Kate because I feel like they are losing touch with the rest of us. Their lifestyle so far are more similar to that of older generations where you have the privilege but don't do much else. Again, time will tell. But for me, they are not young royals anymore and at some point need to change the narrative. I don't think this campaign would have been such a let down had Kate not made it sound like something new and revolutionary. After 10 years I just expected more with this campaign.

    1. For me you’ve hit the nail on the head this big reveal is nothing new . Again I felt there would be lots of visits this week rather than pre recorded videos . I expected them to up the pace when they became POWs and it hasn’t happened. Someone else said that she’s like other well off ladies who do a bit for charity.
I have to say her asking children if they get cuddles from their parents out of touch . Yes we do but Mummy and Daddy are working so many hours to keep our house , feed us and keep us warm sometimes they’re too knackered and stressed to give us time . They need to get real and understand what is going on in a great many of their subjects lives . Having a housekeeper , nanny , parental support and many other staff available you have ample time to be good parents and also help others .
I’m very disappointed they are not doing more to help people now

I agree with NC as far as the campaign is concerned . Saying “we are studying and launching something “ and not stating at least 3 things that will be done would be useful. I’m disappointed that more info hasn’t come forward after the survey that was done. I’m guessing my American sensibilities for results ring in my opinion. If there was a 5-10 year long study that brought together various disciplines , and it only yielded an claymation advert, and a few Princess videos clips , the project would be shut down by the donors.

  10. Thank you NC for your common sense comments. I’d like to add (for readers in the US who may not be aware) that the UK is experiencing a severe economic crisis resulting in a severe social crisis. If you’d like to learn more listen to CNN Christiane Amanpours podcast on February 2. An estimated 4 million more children and families living in poverty, choosing between food and heating. Public sector workers such as nurses, teachers, rail workers, public defenders, ambulance workers all on strike and at breaking point. An estimated 500 people daily are dying needlessly because the NHS is overwhelmed and underfunded and ambulances take up to 90 minutes to respond to emergencies.

I say this to give context to some of the dissatisfaction readers are noting. Action is needed but much more impactful action.

    1. Thank you for sharing that information Anon, it does help to give context. What a travesty that all services are overwhelmed, here's hoping that the government enacts emergency measures.
