Sustainable Choices, Sparkling Jewels & A Plethora of Green: Your Earthshot 'Styling Kate' Looks!

It's been such a joy to view your incredible submissions for our 'Styling Kate 2023' series of posts over the past week. I've relished the opportunity to talk to so many of you via email and in the comments section. The beating heart of royal watching is the community of people with a shared interest, and this activity offers an opportunity to get to know each other a little better. Fashions and styles often convey individuality and it has been fascinating to see very fresh perspectives married with the shared knowledge you all have of tradition, the royal jewel vaults and sartorial diplomacy. All of these elements came to the fore in your selections for the Earthshot Awards in Singapore with some very clever takes on sustainability through the use of repeats, especially in terms of very cleverly reworked items the Princess owns. We also saw vintage, designers and brands who are striving to be kind to the environment. I loved them all!

Styling Kate 2023 - Earthshot Submissions

Alaina -- For our very first Earthshot submission, reader Alaina described 'Styling Kate' as her favourite blog activity. As you'll see throughout the looks here, the theme of sustainability forms a golden thread through many of the choices. Selecting a 'gently used' garment from preloved fashion advocates The Reoutfitter Shopwe have the one-shoulder, sequin Gwendolyn gown by Safiyaa in green and black. The gown is styled with Kate's Jimmy Choo Romy 85 pumps and a pair of dazzling fair trade 'Moon Dance' earrings, handcrafted in Singapore by Amado Gudek.

Louise, London -- Setting herself a brief of mixing vintage pieces with shopping Kate's closet, I think you'll agree Louise's take on opting for the most sustainable approach is a winning one. A vintage 1940s Crepe Silk Hibiscus dress is styled with Kate's L.K. Bennett pink Agata sandals in rose suede, Kate's Josef beaded clutch, and the ZARA Cascading Floral earrings the Princess wore to the BAFTAs earlier this year.

Nicole M -- Like Alaina, Nicole selected the fabulously talented, London-based brand Safiyaa. The pale pink Bellara with soshin is adorned with pink metallic floral embroidery. The sweeping gown is styled with a pair of Jimmy Choo Love glitter pumps, the champagne glitter L.K. Bennett Dotty clutch and a pair of dazzling two-tone Jennifer Behr earrings. The look is completed with a touch of pink Dior Vernis nail polish!

Jennifer -- Jennifer echoed all of our thoughts when she expressed the very fun side of "shopping with an unlimited budget and accessing the royal vaults". Concentrating on the theme of Earthshot, she selected a Jenny Packham gown Kate's had in her closet for a decade. Kate wore the garment for her first red carpet appearance after Prince George's birth. The flowing silver piece is accessorised with Kate's sparkling emerald and diamond jewels. Jennifer also chose an emerald clutch by Serena Uziyel and a pair of emerald heels with flower detail by ZARA. An elegant updo caps off the look.

Micky -- Later on, we'll be looking at the results of our pink looks, but for the time being, we can all agree green is the favoured colour of our stylists' Earthshot picks. Micky took a look through Kate's wardrobe and chose her Falconetti dress by the Vampire's Wife (dubbed the dress of the decade by British Vogue). From a reception in Ireland to the first official portrait of the couple as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, it holds a special place in Kate's fashion history. It is styled with emerald jewels (pieces pictured are from the Queen's Tassel Suite) and green velvet pumps.

Eriq from Bayside -- Eriq selected a design by Singaporean Andrew Gn for the event. Kate wore the designer for Trooping the Colour in June and I think it a near certainty she'll wear Gn at some point in September in Singapore. The strapless, green silk gown is teamed with the Queen's jaw-dropping emerald and diamond Delhi Durbar necklace, a pair of Saint Laurent Anja pumps and a purse by Hermes.

Elle -- Opening her submission, Elle remarked, "While the Earthshot Awards is a somewhat understated event -- I went BIG! I wanted to find a gown for Kate focused on flowers given the focus on saving the Earth. While I think it would work well on the green carpet, if Kate is a presenter, the LED screens with the right imagery would also work." With this criteria in mind, Elle chose Oscar de la Renta's Strapless Embroidered Cutout Gown in 'tanzanite'. Keeping everyone's "eyes drawn up" will be Princess Diana's breath-taking diamond and aquamarine earrings. The look is completed with Kate's Jimmy Choo Romy Glitter pumps and a matching Ellipsis clutch. Kate's hair would be worn down in "long, romantic curls".

When considering a re-wear, Elle would love to see the return of Kate's Grecian silver, one-shoulder Jenny Packham gown. The piece would be styled with jewels from the Queen's Emerald Tassel Suite. Elle notes: "The Earthshot Awards event is definitely a time to wear emeralds. Kate's hair would be blown straight but full and brushed back (gotta show off the brooch)." A pair of Gianvito Rossi Portofino sandals and Kate's silver Elie Saab clutch complete the look.

S. -- It has been great fun thus far to see a return of iconic green looks from the Princess' wardrobe. S. chose a much loved, shimmering Jenny Packham gown first worn in Pakistan with Kate's hair worn "slicked back". For jewels, several delights from the royal vaults. S. explains: "Jewelry wise the emerald necklace worn as a hairband and the Cambridge bracelet. With any large emerald earrings. There are 5 Cambridge emeralds in Queen Mary's Stomacher that would make a beautiful pair of earrings and ring or pendant. I live in hope."

Bluefire -- Our stylist Bluefire shared two looks for Earthshot. First, we have the forest green Xscape Off the Shoulder Crepe Evening Gown teamed with a pair of Steve Madden Armani ankle strap sandals. (Note, these are quite similar to Jennifer's ZARA pick above; I think Kate needs a pair of green shoes with floral detail in her closet :)). The look is completed with a selection of statement jewels by French luxury brand Chaumet, Bee My Love Hope earrings, matching pendant, cuff and the brand's Possession watch.

Bluefire's second look sees the La Femme Tulle Evening Dress with pieces from Chaumet's Bee My Love collection and the brand's Joséphine Ronde ring.

Vivian -- A lady from Colorado named Vivian shared a very fresh take on the traditional gown in the form of the Basix Printed Tulle Strapless gown in 'hunter green leopard'. The edgy design features an animal print and a tiered skirt with cascading ruffles.

Mahato -- We have a sustainable design by Alex Perry -- the elegant Delane One-Shoulder satin crepe gown featuring a padded shoulder and waist draping detail (I don't know about you, but elements of this dress, the colour in particular, remind me of Grace Kelly's Oscar gown). The Delane is styled with Kate's diamond and aquamarine earrings.

Laura -- Known to many of us in the royal blogging community for her eagle-eyed fashion ID's (using the Twitter handle Japanese_Ginger), Laura shared her thoughts on styling Kate for Earthshot: "I'm going really wild with these so I'm having Kate dig into Sophie's vaults. I think it would be a great way to show unity, the family's support/commitment to environmentalism, and I just wanted to really go for it. I chose to have Sophie lend Kate her custom Amanda Wakeley gown worn to Crown Princess Victoria's wedding concert. I thought since it was an older piece, it was a more realistic choice for Sophie to lend and this look feels like it's something Kate would like."

Laura continued: "To keep sustainability in mind, I chose her Jimmy Choo shoes and Anya Hindmarch bags that she already owns. I of course chose one of the great sapphire pieces she has access to with the fringe sapphire earrings from the royal vault."

Nancy, Iowa -- A flowing, long sleeve gown with a generous flowing skirt in vivid green by Singaporean Andrew Gn (as noted above, definitely one to watch for Kate) is styled with a pair of Emmy London Daisy Block Lilac Bow shoes. The Queen's jaw-dropping Emerald Tassel Suite completes the look.

Steph -- With sustainability at the forefront of her mind, Steph solely shopped Kate's closet, selecting a gown many of us would love to see the Princess wear again: her Roland Mouret off-shoulder Nansen in royal blue. The gown would be worn with Kate's Robinson Pelham Tsar Star earrings (worn to the Top Gun Maverick premiere), Kate's Jenny Packham Casa clutch, and Jimmy Choo Anthracite Metallic sandals.

Sirael -- The return of Kate's black velvet strapless Alexander McQueen gown? Steph is a stylist after my own heart with that request (as long-term readers know I've mentioned it...a few times :)). It is accessorised with the Queen's beautiful emerald diamond earrings and Godman necklace. The look is completed with the Emmy London Natasha clutch in 'greenery suede' and dark velvet Jimmy Choo pumps.

Katie -- Once again, I want to remark on the level of consideration given to the theme and event for these looks. I think it makes this particular group of looks rather unique in the history of 'Styling Kate'. Katie opened by remarking, "As it's the Earthshot Awards, I thought something sustainable would be the way to go. AGAATI claims to be fair-trade and eco-friendly. I thought their white silk dress was stunning, and even has the white and red of Singapore." Kate's Love Birds earrings are also by a Singaporean brand -- Bohéme Sg. Finally, the look is completed with a pair of killer sandals by Jimmy Choo.

MILady -- It was terrific to see MIlady reveal she commented for the first time to participate. Like so many of you, she honoured the theme by examining Kate's wardrobe and chose several pieces we absolutely need to see again! Firstly, it's the shimmering embellished Jenny Packham gown Kate wore in Paris (affectionately known as Kate's 'Elsa from Frozen' gown). It's styled with Kate's Rania Gianvito Rossi pumps, a white McQueen clutch, and the Queen's Aquamarine Brazilian parure completes the look.

Hannah in WA -- Thanks to Hannah, we have an opportunity to see another vibrant Andrew Gn design. The Long Sleeve Pleated Gown features a V-neck and a flowing silhouette. In terms of Singaporean designers, he's absolutely been at the forefront for our stylists. Combining sartorial diplomacy with sustainability, the accessories are all repeats. We have Kate's Jimmy Choo Anthracite sandals and Asprey diamond and emerald Halo earrings (worn for Earthshot last year) to add sparkling finishing touches.

Adrienne -- "A repeat in red with royal vault pearls to honor the flag of Singapore and fit the theme of sustainability. As a finishing touch a revival of orchids worn in the evening. Especially a few of the orchids named in theirs or Princess Diana's honor. I think with all the jeweled splendour a few in a simple chignon would look lovely," Adrienne noted. We have Kate's Beulah London Sarai gown teamed with Emmy London Rebecca Lipstick pumps, Jimmy Choo Celeste clutch, the Duchess of Gloucester's Pendant earrings, and the brooch from Queen Alexandra's wedding parure.

Juniperfj -- Sharing her thoughts on assembling the Earthshot look, Juniperfj shared via email, "For the Earthshot Prize, I chose a dress by Singaporean designer Hayden Ng with accessories and jewellery already in the Princess's closet and family vaults. Queen Alexandra's Collet is a bold but streamlined statement against the floating dress, and blue accessories bring out the colors of the dress. Another nod to Singapore is the Peranaken Jubilee Brooch in a sleek updo."

Lady West -- Another stunning repeat which I feel is a testament to the timelessness of Jenny Packham's designs and another example of her well-deserved title as 'Queen of Evening Wear'. Lady West would love to see the entire look (minus orders) Kate wore for the dazzling banquet at the Governor-General of Jamaica's residence. We have the sweeping ruffle off-shoulder green gown styled with jewels from the Queen's Emerald Tassel Suite and a sleek updo.

Molly Claire -- Selecting the Peony Printed Long Silk dress by sustainable designer Roopa Pemmaraju, Molly Claire did a masterful job of utilising rarely used jewels from the royal vault -- the Andamooka Opals presented to Queen Elizabeth II in Australia in 1954. A chic pair of Jimmy Choo sandals Kate's had for over a decade complete the look.

Zora from Prague -- One of our long-time readers shared another fantastic repeat look: "I’d definitely like Kate to wear a repeat for this occasion, and my dream look would be the dark green lace gown by Temperley London which Kate wore for the 2017 Portrait Gala at the National Gallery on 28 March 2017. I would team the gown with the Kiki McDonough Lauren Leaf Earrings and Aquazzura Bow Tie 105 Suede Pumps in black." Zora would love to see Kate's hair styled in an elegant updo for the occasion.

Beth -- With an emphasis on sustainability and an eye on potential alterations for one of Kate's most classic gowns, Beth shared: "The princess and I both love lace dresses. I've often thought that they would look like a new dress by simply changing out the lining. Imagine the Zarita dress with a red or green lining (or hot pink!) -- beautiful and could be reworn during the Christmas season." We know Kate works closely with an independent designer from time to time. A repurposing and redesigning of some of her pieces would be fascinating. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has had superb results doing this over the years. For Kate's hair, Beth loves the idea of possibly styling it with a brooch such as the Loren Hope Butterfly, for example.

Elle B, Texas -- For Elle's first time participating in this activity (I was especially excited to see quite a few people mention they submitted for the first time this year), she would love to see the one-shoulder red Alexander McQueen gown Kate wore for her 40th portraits. As we all agree, red is very much the Princess' colour. It would be styled with the Crown Ruby earrings, Queen Mary's ruby and diamond bracelet, Jimmy Coo 100 Lancer pumps, and the Ellipsis clutch in dusty glitter. A slick updo would showcase the jewels and gown.

Khilen -- Last but certainly not least, we have a past season Oscar de la Renta gown with floral detail, blush Prada scallop heels, a bespoke Alexander McQueen clutch (with the skull removed) and a fan paying homage to Singapore with orchid embroidery and embellishments. If the event were outdoors, Khilen suggests a matching shawl created by Kate's independent dressmaker.

For jewellery, Kate would wear the George VI sapphire and diamond bracelet along with her white and yellow diamond earrings and matching bracelet and ring. Khilen would like to see an updo for the Princess as she wore her hair down for the previous Earthshot ceremonies.

  2. Thanks Charlotte. I'm blown away by all the suggestions. Well done everyone. I just hope either the Princess or her stylist checks in. I love the green dress by the Singapore designer but the winner for me was the green dress suggested by Vivian. That would look beautiful on the Princess with her own emeralds. S.🙂.

    1. I would be very surprised if her dresser and the Princess herself don't do that. I have a feeling that they do keep tabs on blogs like this. Just saying. 😉

Always an awesome exercise, and such dreamy suggestions! Hoping for some big new jewels from the vault.

  4. Now done to business. The jewelry. I loved every suggestion. The Cambridge necklace would look amazing on her, without the drops. As would the Godman necklace. I'm hoping she gets one of those. I really hope to see her wearing the late Queens aqua earrings and bracelet. As for the Gloucester earrings they were made for the Princess. Queen Alexandra wedding brooch. I hope the king has United the set. I would like to see her wearing it at the back of her head. While wearing the necklace and pearl tiara. With the late Queens pearl bracelet and Queen Mother's pearl ring. Queen Mary's ruby bracelet is a beauty. There are other ruby drop earrings available if the crown ruby one's aren't. Just going on the jewels provided by The Prince of Wales to the Duchess of Cornwall, I would think as King he would want the same for the current Duchess of Cornwall. It just baffles me that Diana's daughter in law's don't wear the jewelry they inherited. Or did they? Catherine, the ring,a watch and maybe a pair of earrings. Has worn 3 piece's worn by the Princess from the royal collection. Megan, a ring two bracelets and a pair of earrings. I think the crown took back everything gifted to her after she got married. I just hope the new Princess of Wales starts to wear them. S.🙂.

    1. I don't think Meghan was given much that she publicly wore. She's even married to the second in line back then in 2018 anyway... As far I've seen, she's worn the controversial Saudi earrings, the bracelets given by Charles and the pearl and diamond earrings given by the Queen.
Plus some pieces worn by Diana which Harry would have given her. The one and only tiara ever worn gets given back automatically every time in purpose for cleaning and so on , given it's a piece from the royal vaults. It was loaned to her and not a permanent loan at that.

I doubt many people even knew the Sussexes well enough to give
significant pieces from their own collections, namely from foreign royals, it's always on the direct line of succession and who will have opportunities to wear tiaras etc more often for portraits , state banquets or other state occasions.

  12. I am thrilled to see the return of Styling Kate!!! I should have made a "first submission" as well. I love these looks! What a creative and thoughtful group.

I must say Jennifer's look is my favourite! I have dreamed of seeing that dress again the way Charlotte dreams of the strapless black velvet gown. I believe it was their first evening engagement after having Prince George???
And love it with the green accents *chef's kiss*

  14. To quote Charlotte from her commentary, “Fashions and styles often convey individuality”. All due respect to all who took the time to search and coordinate their individual interpretation and/or styling befitting the occasion, the person who will wear it, and in what country. Thank you for the treat.
Immediate impression: Visual / stop, pause, stare at one which meant “Earth shot” to me full-heartedly. I continued and looked at all of them. I went away for about one hour, and what I remembered was still that one piece; and even reminded me of who started “Earth Shot”. I realized how commercials can have an effect with an outstanding message or imagery that sticks.
Information and reading: I thought I was being too subjective from the visual side, so in the second round looked at each presentation, and read Charlotte’s commentary on each contributor. Some of them are done in consideration of sustainability. That obviously fits part of the purpose of the occasion in practice. Some are by Singaporean designers which is respectful and will be memorable of time, place occasion of the host country.
Universal vision: Image, color, memory, reason, occasion, color, and design association. Please pardon me, I am still remembering that one item, and I am puzzled although glad found something.
Final review: looking deeper for runners-up / found two others and in fact, one of them can interpret earth, wind, and fire especially if it had added a touch of green and orange, still it had some sweeping sophisticated look.

  16. I love the dress suggested by Vivian, but applaud the idea of raiding Sophie's closet! What a unique option that would lead to some interesting choices! An interesting idea would be for kate to raid the closet of Princess Mary of Denmark's closet. She has worn some stunning gowns:

  17. So impressive to see the vision of each CK blog poster. Love them! I think there's a very good chance we'll see Kate in a Singaporean Designer or a 're-wear'. So much fun to see the diversity of color (although green was popular), styles, and designers. My top three favorite 'new' gowns are:
    1. The Andrew Gin dresses (keeping them as one because they are a little similar with the pleating - which i love - and the long sleeves) chosen by Nancy, Iowa and Hannah, in WA
    2. The lovely pink gown with embellishment that Nicole chose.
    3. The two green strapless gowns - because they are both so soft and flowing - selected by Eriq by Bayside (and because it reminded me a little of one of Diana's gowns) and Vivian.

The rewears that I too would love to see (other than the one I chose :-) are:
    1. The red McQueen - almost not a rewear because we haven't seen it walk that Elle B. chose.
    2. The blue Roland Mouret - great choice for this event, representing the blue oceans of Earth - that Steph selected
    3. Of course the black McQueen that Sirael styled (like Charlotte, I've always dreamed of seeing this again).

But Jewelry is what I love looking at even more. So many fabulous jewels exist and I would love to see them all unlocked from the vault and displayed on someone as beautiful as Kate. I saw some new things this time around, so thanks to everyone for finding them. Really want to see Diana's amethyst earrings and these top three:
    1. HM is the only one that has worn a lot of rubies. And given Kate wears a lot of red (and red represents a wide variety of commonwealth flags) the Crown Ruby earrings with Queen Mary's ruby and diamond bracelet would be incredibly special.
    2. Yes, Kate has worn Queen Alexandra's Collet which we only saw in a pic showing Kate sitting in a car. Would love to see it on her again (although, Camilla might choose to keep this piece for herself).
    3. The Andamooka Opals - I actually used them in a previous "Styling Kate" submission. I find opals to be quite mysterious but don't own any myself.

We have 12 weeks to wonder and ponder what Kate will wear. Congratulations to all of the stylists, well done. I look forward to the Wales Week looks as well as the 'fun' Barbie pink looks. Thank you Charlotte for bringing this back. It's a fun thing to do in August while we wait for the next Kate appearance.

    1. Agree on the rubies. Considering the new Queen has two large ruby necklaces, I would hope the Princess gets the Baring necklace. The drops used as earrings and a pendant and the rest used to make a pair of wow ruby chandelier earrings. S.🙂.

    2. I doubt Camilla will keep so many of the collet necklaces for herself, she's worn the Coronation Necklace plus the Queen Mother's diamond riviere necklaces herself already.
Catherine is allowed to have some pieces kept exclusively for her usage. She's the second highest ranking lady in the land after all.

  18. WOW! I am blown away with all of the beautiful clothes, shoes and jewelry. I can’t pick a favorite because they are all so different and unique.

I will say, I do love stepping into Sophie’s closet for a look. In my family, we borrow from whoever’s clothes we fit into. I think it would be fantastic to see some clothing trades go on amongst the family.

As for jewelry, I think we’ll start to see Kate pull from the vault more often. To me, Camila does not seem to be one to constantly change jewelry. She has her favorites and kind of sticks to them from my perspective. There is NOTHING wrong with that but it also means we have to rely on others to show it off. I’d love to see Sophie rock some jewelry or new tiaras (when required) from the vault.

There is so much beautiful jewelry. It’s a shame we don’t see it more often. Maybe one day.

  20. I loved all of these style choices - what brilliant, well thought out ensembles. Well done to all. My favourite is Steph's choice of the blue Roland Mouret, for these reasons: firstly, it's a rewear, so sustainable; it's Roland Mouret, whom she wore recently to Wimbledon; although an evening look, the dress is not super glitzy, or flouncy, which Kate seems to avoid for this event. The silver accessories with the blue are also lovely.
Having made my pick for the actual event, I would love to see any of these worn in the near future!

  21. My absolute favorites are from Alaina (love the gown 💚🖤 and the earrings are positively fab, I would love to own them myself) and Nicole M. (the gown with the collar becoming a train in back is divine and defines "princess" to a T). The earring and shoe choices are perfect.

  22. I post my choice after several hours of my first visual impression of seeing everything here. it remains the same for all three.

Thinking of Earth Shot – dress / stands out memorable.

    Vivian from Colorado
Earthly, beautiful green, bold w/o being flashy, generously cut and flowing (Earth Shot and Animal Conservation reminder). The short skirt layer part is not a style I care for and would rather see it on an entertainer or brides’ maids than a meaningful and iconic international representation. Otherwise, its overall look has a full, feminine, and majestic look with a flow if only w/o the short skirt layer.

    Hannah in WA
Thinking of the international sense of Earth / the form of the dress may not be a stranger to Kate (will work out). Fully coordinated with eye-catching round imagery and beautiful emerald earrings. The shoes work with the dress.

    Juniperfj
Thinking of elements of air, ocean, wind, nature, and flowers sites and beautiful flowers (the environment). The entire coordinated look has a sense of the natural elements and a reminder of gemstones as well.
Elegantly feminine, beautifully coordinated, lite touches with a sophisticated presentation.

    Final vote and reason
Coordinating a dress with accessories, purses, and shoes is not an easy task. In fact, coordinating everything absorbs the searching time and the creative process. Although the occasion is Earth Shot, these stylists are dressing up a certain person whose style is familiar and scrutinized for all her accessories as well as her dress and evening gown.

All things considered, if I was a judge, it will go like this.

Juniper (for meeting most of the purpose and coordinating the dress sensibly and beautifully (it will work for Kate most likely and especially in Singapore.).

Hannah in WA (for meeting most of the purpose, coordinating the shoes and dress sensibly, beautiful earrings which may fit the occasion though slightly off in consistency compared to the print design of the dress (the few semi-circles may make the full circular earrings outstanding then). It seems fashion and styling can be obvious or subliminal.

    Vivian
For meeting part of the title. It translates the purpose but the person who will wear it is not complete. Commercial value#1

As we know Kate still fits into pieces from a decade or longer ago (be it because it still fits or good tailoring). So re-wearing is the most sustainable choice for her. Even more than renting. And there are so many gorgeous re-wear options in this post! I am not against buying something new though- IF it looks fantastic and it is something she doesn't basically already has. Otherwise, re-working/updating is the enviromental conscious choice. And she can afford the best tailors for this.
So, a big thank you to Jennifer, Steph, Sireal, Adrienne, Zora from Prague, Beth and Elle B, Texas for your amazing choices. Those gowns are our favourites for good reason.- And in some cases your new styling would make the look even better.
And also thank you to Alaina, Nicole M, Mahato and Khilen- that are truly beautiful gowns. While I sadly can't see Kate picking some of them, she most definitely should!

In general is the jewellery game of all participants spot on- even better than what Kate has done most of the time. But I fear Kate and I will never see eye to eye on that front :-)
    Regards, C.

  33. As Singaporean, I adore the style by Adrienne and Elle, so stunning with one of our national color and sustainability in mind for the events. Looking forward to the Wales visit in Nov. Melissa

  34. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the different new submissions and the beautiful past wears of Catherine. For some reason I hadn’t ever seen the blue Roland Mouret by Steph, and I love it. That straight silhouette is is my kind of style. Good job to all the enthused submitters!!

    1. I first saw Mouret on Meghan I think the day before her wedding. If I remember correctly, Kate later wore a striking red dress by him. But this blue dress is the prettiest. It captures some off-the-shoulder elements that Kate seems to like without being binding. And how pretty is her hair there??

    2. She wore it at a event in Kensington palace. The picture doesn't do it justice. I saw it the other night on YouTube. Stunning. S 🙂.

  36. If I'm not too late, I would like to submit an entry for something pink. I have longed to see Kate in a ballgown and pink is my favorite color. Here is a ball gown in pink: https://moniquelhuillier.com/products/strapless-dusty-rose-ball-gown

  38. Wow so many fabulous looks here well done everyone! now to try and pick my favourites.
    1. the Andrew Ng look Hannah in WA styled it really popped out on the computer at me and I think it's a beautiful dress and a style I think Kate would wear.
    2. Is the styling by Adrienne - I like the red dress and to see it again would be fitting here with its nod to the Singapore colors and orchids and stunning pearl and diamond jewels.
    3. Jennifers selection of the JP silver sequin dress with emerald jewels and accessories is a lovely look.
I like these first 3 styles as they would stand out on the stage at the Earth shot awards but my next 2 choices are beautiful looks.
4.Molly Clare's Choice of dress is very pretty, and the opals would be a real treat to see.
fifth and final style I like is Louise's choice of Vintage dress with fabulous repeat accessories. The gowns by the 2 Singaporean designers are just beautiful and I really hope we see Kate in any of these at some time in the future. I look forward to the next round up. Sue in WA

  39. Outstanding suggestions by everyone who participated. I'd be happy to be styled by any of you. Of the choices provided, I like Vivian's the best. I also really like the sustainable aspect of re-wearing the blue Mouret cold shoulder gown.

In my opinion, even though my favorite is the green and black leopard print gown, Kate should not necessarily feel obligated to wear green because it might appear to be gimmicky. This event is not like St Patrick's Day with a command-performance in green.

Also, I think she should not wear a gown that repeats the distinctive neckline of last year's gorgeous gown. That would eliminate.the otherwise beautiful gowns submitted by Nicole M and Bluefire.

I look forward to seeing what Kate chooses to wear.

  40. All the looks are so fabulous! Well done, everyone! I especially am happy to see a look featuring the Andamooka opal - one of my faves! - and the orchids, florals, and bird print. This was so lovely! :)

  41. Charlotte, are you going to make a post about Catherine at the music festival? Maybe let us know what they’ve been up to this summer? Curious!

  42. Thanks to all the contributors! In some ways I enjoy this more than the real thing, because we get to see so many more dresses. My favourite is MollyClaire's suggestion - beautiful dress and accessories. I also really like Louise-London's idea of a vintage dress, and Laura's of borrowing from another royal's wardrobe.

  43. All the choices are lovely and Kate would look spectacular in any of the choices the talented CK readers chose for Catherine.
I would really like to see Lady West's repeat in green and Nicole M's pick in pale pink on Kate.

  44. Hello all! I am so impressed by all of the gorgeous outfits put together for Kate by everyone — just stunning! ….perhaps Kate’s actual stylist will sneak a look and borrow some ideas!

I am particularly intrigued by Laura’s idea of borrowing from Sophie’s closet. It made me think about Princess Beatrice having borrowed and reworked QEII’s magical ball gown to wear for her 2020 wedding to Edo. So, I wonder, how long til another of QEII’s gowns re-appears? It’s an ingenious way to be sustainable, and it would be a lovely way to carry on HM’s legacy, … not to mention the wearer looking utterly regal to boot.

So, I did some sleuthing and found a few dresses I’d suggest—for EarthShot, or a companion event. If I can’t upload the screenshot photos here in Comments, I will email the photos to Charlotte.

    1. The gowns worn by the Queen are now kept in archives, and won't be used by any member of the Royal family. They're considered historical artefacts as part of the Royal Collection.
The likely hood is some get given to close friends and family but not current working members of the Royal family.
The rest is distributed privately to second hand clothing stores. With the identity markings of the clothing taken off.

    2. Anon 19:06 I thought Bea's reworking of the Queen's gown made her the prettiest bride -- I thought she looked lovelier, in my view, than all the other royal brides. I can easily see Bea and Eugenie in many of the Queen's beautiful gowns and day dresses. This may sound strange but I don't think they should be reworn by someone who is not directly related -- Bea, Eugenie, Zara, grandchildren yes, but women who married into the family no. I don't know why I say that but it seems right.

  47. If I was not thinking of Earth Day and Kate, I like all of them. For Earth Day and Kate - a few stand out. Kate may end up wearing something solid especially in the middle of Singapore's nature and flowers surrounding. Who knows? Thank you for the exciting fun, your ever tireless quality of hard work to Charlotte, 2023 superb Stylists, and the commenting community. Anon 15

  48. If I didn’t know better I’d think some of the new dresses were ones she’s already worn because they are so perfect.
