This portion of the tour is very much focused on the role of conservation in the lives of the rural people in the area. Kensington Palace said "more than many other famous national parks in the world, you get a real sense of how closely linked linked people are to the animals that live there".
This evening, however, was all about meeting the locals and it couldn't have come at a better time. William and Kate's visit coincides with the Bohag Bihu festival, the celebration of the Assamese New Year. A campfire provided the setting for William and Kate to meet locals. They watched dance and musical performances. It was a vibrant and colourful evening and a fantastic opportunity for the royal couple to immerse themselves in local culture.
The festival historically signifies the time of harvest. It unites the population of Assam regardless of religion or background, and promotes the celebration of diversity. Groups of boys and girls beat drums and perform their traditional dance. Bihu fairs are organised to perform Bihu songs, theatrical performances and dance. The festival lasts for several days.
William and Kate were particularly impressed by one little boy.
More from People:
"Among the drummers was a 3-year-old boy who was waving to the beat alongside his dad – a sweet moment that prompted smiles from the royal parents. "They were so happy to see him," Ranjinee Bhukan of the British deputy high commission told PEOPLE. "They were really watching him. I'm sure they were remembering their little one" – 2-year-old Prince George, who is back home in England with his sister, nearly 1-year-old Princess Charlotte.
At the end of the performance, William and Kate sought out the boy, with William offering praise: "You were very energetic!"
How does a three-year-old respond to meeting a Duchess? By standing on her shoes of course :) This is such an adorable shot!
William and Kate were clearly taken with the little boy. I expect he reminds them of a certain little prince back in England :)
After the performance, the royals met dancers.
The Duke and Duchess posed for photos with performers.
Kate has well and truly stepped out of her comfort zone in terms of style during this trip and tonight was no exception. The Duchess looked fantastic in the Anna Sui Printed Crinkled Silk-Chiffon and Twill Maxi Dress. The beautiful blue and green printed dress is trimmed with embroidery for soft structure. The dress retails for $820 at Net-A-Porter.

Anna Sui is a new designer for the Duchess. The American fashion designer launched her label in 1991 and has expanded globally in the years since and now runs successful fashion, fragrance and cosmetics lines. Known for her whimsical and feminine designs, Anna draws inspiration from a mixture of areas. "When I'm interested in something, I want to know everything about it," she says of her design process, which is inspired by everything from Victorian cowboys and Warhol superstars to Finnish textiles.

Kate teamed the dress with her Pied A Terre Imperia wedges. The wedges have been renamed Karley and are available in several colours at Dune London for £60.

Which of Kate's three looks today do you prefer? The Glamorous Maxi Dress, the Temperley London Desdemona or the Anna Sui Maxi Dress?

A fantastic day all round, wouldn't you agree? :)
I love this dress on her, I love the top of it!! she looks great! The tour is about half way over now, its going so fast!! Charlotte thank you for all of your hard work keeping us updated!!
ReplyDeleteI love that her earrings are so old :) This is why I think we will see stuff pop up all through her life that we had thought had been retired. I mean, she doesn't only keep the fancy stuff, but also cheap costume pieces etc. Really nice :)
ReplyDeleteThe dress is nice. It fits the theme. Maybe a bit odd that she bought a Indian-esque dress from an american designer instead of buying an indian dress. But maybe she really loved this one :) Also.. saying it's inspired by scandinavian tapestries, to my eye is a real strech. It looks more like my grandmas 70s table cloths than any of our more traditional tapestry.
They look so happy! Makes my heart melt a bit :) It's so adorable how they are kind of leaning towards eachother. Really sweet! So amazing to be able to experience all these different cultures through them!!
I really liked seeing William and Kate interact with that little boy. I love that the boy stood on her shoes! They must miss the kids so much!
Also, I have to give a big kudos to William this tour, satorically. While he is not dressing more interesting than usual (blue suits, hello!) his suits (and especially pants) seem way better fitted. I have noticed that trend for a few months. Also, his casual looks are really great for him!
I agree Rebecca about William. I was so thrilled to see him wear pants that were not navy. He looks very handsome tonight in his white button down and chinos.
DeleteHe really does. He's a very athletic man but his earlier suits have been too bulky. These new suits "show him off" better. (That sounded a bit wrong!)
DeleteLol, Rebecca, too funny. I get your meaning, though, :)
Deletenot at all, Rebecca. The newer suits are more becoming to him. You said it right. :)
DeleteRebecca I "melted a bit" too:) What a Beautiful Response you wrote. I couldn't agree more:)
DeleteDear Rebecca,
DeleteI have read somewhere that Anna Sui supports charities helping those affected by attacks in Mumbai as well as WWF taking care about wildlife in Asia. So perhaps a choice of that designer was inspire by her charity work. We all know how thoughtful our Duchess can be in some her sartorial decision, right?
Love this look! The colors work so well on her. And kudos for recycling 10+ year-old earrings. She must have one spectacular jewelry collection at home! :)
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE too see her cloest! I bet it is bigger than my bedroom at home!
DeleteWow, I would think. Maybe something along the lines of Princess Mia`s closet (Princess Diaries 2) or bigger! I would be curious to know what she does with all of her old clothes. Do you think she gives them to charities/Salvation army/friends/family, or just keeps them/throws away/etch?
DeleteAn afterthought-I would personally love a closet (and a suite to go with it) that big! I wish, I wish, I wish!!!!:)
DeleteI love that she is so organized that she can just grab a pair of earrings that she wore years ago, out & about as a single lady:)
DeleteThe Temperley is my favorite of today! The other two are also lovely and appropriate and it is exciting to see her in new styles and colors. The last dress, the colors and prints just seem a bit too much all together. But I would happily wear the first dress of today, was so glad she put her hair back and to see her in flats on an engagement. The Temperley is divine.
ReplyDeleteI might be in the minority here, but I don't like this dress. This is the first thing that she has worn on the tour that I don't particularly like. But it is definitely a personal preference.
ReplyDeleteThis looked like a fun evening to witness and very special for them. Loved that she is mixing both a new dress with pieces she has had in her closet for years. I love getting a second look at old pieces we have seen before.
Kudos to Anna for digging all the way back to 2006 for earrings!
Julie, my first feeling about the dress was the same, but then, looking at the picture with the red-dressed dancers, I saw that the choice was perfect. It's clear that everything is carefully planned in advance, and we have to see the complete set of images, events and meetings before giving our opinion.
DeleteThis is the only thing on the tour that I have liked.
DeleteEverything else was just off for me.
I'm with you on that, Julie. The first piece so far that I don't like - to me it's a mixture of too many patterns.
DeleteI'm glad they could enjoy themselves watching interesting performances! Hope they get a good sleep, they surely need some rest. Looking forward to whatever tomorrow brings!
To be honest, you are not alone. :) The dress is perfectly appropriate, but I'm not nuts about the print. William does look quite handsome and relaxed.
DeleteI absolutely love the black/white/blue print maxi dress on the right.
And the little boy is just too cute!!
I agree Julie. Probably my least favourite so far. LOVED the Temperley from this afternoon though!!!
DeleteFabulous choice of dress. I would happily wear it and any of today's dresses. So, the Temperley is "Spanish" and this dress "Scandavian" yet they work perfectly in India...it just goes to show you how truly connected the peoples of the world are. Now if only our governments could get along. Peace!
ReplyDeleteNicely said, 18:42.
DeleteHigh Five Anon 18:42! :)
DeleteFirst, who are all these people that "spot" what Kate wore in 2006? Isn't the picture of her in 2006 "eye-opening". Will and Kate look fantastic together at this event (especially knowing that they must be fatigued). Looking forward to this part of their journey.
ReplyDeleteThe Anna Sui dress is a great selection for this outing. And I feel it looks better on Kate than the models I saw it pictured on. She styled it wonderfully and so glad she's pulling out items - like the earrings - that she's had forever.
It's wonderful to see them with the locals and great it was timed with the Bohag Bihu festival. Can't wait for tomorrow and of course the journey to Bhutan.
I can not pick a favorite but Charlotte I look forward to the surveys once you categorize all of the wonderful ensembles we've seen.
Elle in San Jose
This dress is v different for her! She looks amazing in anything. I like it! !
ReplyDeleteAnna Sui is a fun colorful designer. How surprising to see Kate in one of her dresses. I have 2 of Anna's dresses, bought on sale, mind you - they are fun to wear!! Love to see her branching out - shoes look awful with it, in my opinion - but in view of the mud - maybe appropriate.
DeleteThis tour is really growing on me. A what a number of packed events.
ReplyDeleteI haven't commented on here for a year or so---couldn't stand the carping, but had to answer your question--I loved all of them. Indeed I could not fault anything she has worn, as each outfit has been spot on for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion that is Catherine's strong point; the ability to choose the right outfit for the event.
Charlotte, you continue to be very quick to show us photos---thank you.
Jean! It's so great to see you!!! :D
DeleteAgree with Rebecca. It's nice to see your name, Jean.
DeleteJean - welcome home! Wonderful to see my dear poster colleague who is actually a couple of years older than me! My feeling is always that the 'kids' on this blog need us. :-)
DeleteMissed you, Jean! :o)
DeleteJean, we have missed you! I completely agree with your comments! Each outfit has been perfect for the occasion! :)
DeleteI missed you Jean! I hope you are back.
DeleteYay Jean! Great to have you back. Agree with you about the clothes. The interaction here with the little boy is too cute.
DeleteHi Jean:) I can't believe it's been over a year? You have been missed:)
DeleteWow Charlotte! You have done an amazing job today. I hope you are sleeping soundly before you arise early to cover day 4.
ReplyDeleteI happen to think Kate had a stellar clothes day. I particularly like the first dress this morning. It just seemed to fit her casual style. I do love the one tonight too. You know, she looks so comfy in this type of dress, one wonders if some were already in her closet that she wears for gatherings with their friends at KP or AH. Probably not, but it's a thought.
It was a great day!
You`re right, she does look very comfortable and those dress are perfect casual chic.
DeleteWhat an interesting thought! We always assume that everything she wears must be new for The Tour, but you are right. I could totally envision her wearing this at Anmer enjoying a casual dinner with friends:)
DeleteAnother beautiful dress!!! I The duchess really looks great in this dress. Her stones in her earrings look peridot to me. Hope the duke and the duchess have a lot of fun in Assam and even try the famous ASSAM TEA! or ASSAM CHAI
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Kate has done an amazing job with her clothing choices this week! I love the colors and prints and she seems to have tried a few new silhouettes too. Love the prints! I think the worst for me was the cobalt blue evening dress on the first night and I love the two Temperley outfits so far. This Anna Sui dress is appropriate and whimsical too. She fits in and stands out in the festival atmosphere tonight! Keep on truckin' Kate!
ReplyDeleteI agree!! Hopefully she keeps up this level of style when she is back in the Uk!
DeleteThat's funny HossierLori. For me, her blue dress has been the sartorial highlight of the tour so far!:)
DeleteWilliam looks good tonight as well! Is that a linen or silk shirt I see? So great to see him out of his blue suit! They looked like they enjoyed themselves tonight!
ReplyDeleteHa, I hardly recognize him without his navy jacket and tie!
DeleteI also think that William has stepped up his wardrobe. Catherine as always looks great!
DeleteI agree with Jean from Lancs. I love all of Kate's choices this trip. I haven't disliked one single piece. Kate really does excel at knowing what is going to work. When I first saw the pictures, I wondered at the shoes and wasn't sure they were appropriate until I saw the little boy's foot on her shoe and realized they are sitting/standing in mud. These shoes are perfect for that. Good for you Kate.
ReplyDeleteThanks Charlotte. You are doing a wonderful job with this tour. When do you sleep, girl?
I hope their shoes can be cleaned! Nice dress, in feeling much like the one from the morning, but slightly more formal. The designer is obviously Asian by descent. What is Kate holding in her left hand where she is touching the dancer's headband with her right hand? A gift of some sort?
DeleteThat little boy was so cute, and I`ll bet anything Will and Kate were thinking about George at that moment! (And Charlotte, too:).
DeleteI, too, would like to know if you are getting any rest this week, Charlotte? I`d feel kinda bad if you were staying up all hours just to get this to us ASAP! :( Not that I don`t love all of your lighting-fast very detailed posts, Charlotte! :)
I love that Diana's ring, now Kate's, shows up so nicely in photos. William's desire to "sort of keep her a part of it all" is working. In looking at Kate's dress, I noticed the ring and thought of Diana.
DeleteHey Courtney, how are you doing? Better, I hope.
DeleteBe sure to update yourself on all the days you've missed as there are lots of little love notes for you.
hugs. :)
Lovely dress, and, it has pockets.
DeleteI agree! It's been such a joy following along on this Tour & enjoying all of Kate's wardrobe choices:)
DeleteWell said Marny:)
DeleteThe dress looked lovely on her but not something I would wear. It and the shoes would be forgiving of all the dirt. Looked like a very fun and educational outing after a long day. ali
ReplyDeleteI loved all three dresses. The animal print on the dress at the national park was a nice touch, and the red dress from earlier was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a decade makes! Still beautiful and she can make that dress, which would look like a sack on me, a beautiful look. Brava Catherine and brava Charlotte. -Helen in Indiana.
ReplyDeleteTemperely London lace dress was awesome, obviously the hair updo, the Kate's style. Muah
ReplyDeleteI love all of them but this one is my favorite! And, again, I have to say W & K are a true team. Effortlessly it is less about what Kate is wearing and more about WillKat (what the Indian press has apparently dubbed them). I noted how the discussion with the Indian PM about the steel industry was "the Duke AND Duchess discussed..." So different from how other Royals separate.
ReplyDelete:-( This is the first dress I haven't cared for. I've never really appreciated the aesthetic of Anna Sui. Reminds me of a quilt. I like to curl up on them but don't like to wear them. The little boy is too adorable :) Loved the traditional dress of the dancers.
ReplyDeleteI am with you Erika!:)
DeleteI loved all three looks today, but the first one is my favourite. To see Kate sitting on the floor cross legged, and then with a bindi/tika on her brow and flowers in her hair just made my day. She looked so appropriate for the occasion, and so elegant while doing that.
ReplyDeleteIn general, I am just enjoying her sartorial choices so much! All the colours, prints, flowing fabrics, different silhouettes, open necklines, dangling earrings... Such a breath of fresh air. She looks happy and pretty, it seems to me that she likes what she's wearing and she's feeling beautiful. In a sense, it feels like she's not trying to hide herself or blend in the background like she so often does.
I hope when she comes back home a little bit of India will stay with her in this sense.
I am loving this coverage - thanks Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteRegarding her Anna Sui dress, I do like it, but I admit I am a tad disappointed that she doesn't simply opt for an Indian designed-piece when it appears she is trying to achieve that look.
My favourite piece of the day (and of the tour) remains the sea green Temperley. Just stunning.
I am so elated by the Duchess stepping outside of her professional "uniform"!!! The outfits she's worn on this tour remind me of the carefree Kate AND she seems more at ease. I know lots have been speculating/wondering why she hasn't busted out precious royal jewels but whatever the reason, I'm glad she gets a chance to wear all these bohemian chandelier earrings she probably wouldn't for engagements back in the UK.
ReplyDelete:-)
Absolutely loving the style on this tour. There's such a variety - on every front, and the coverage is super duper too!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this one on Kate, the colors are beautiful and it fits her so nicely.
ReplyDeleteWow I love seeing Kate in these flowing light maxi dresses. Her clothes are so far removed from what she wore in NZ and Australia. I will miss these dresses when she's back in London! I can just imagine they are torn between enjoying India and missing the children! I have read in the DM that there is a possible terrorist attack planned for India from Isis while the Duke and Duchess are there and that they are looking for a Canadian women in this regard. I think the Duke and Duchess are also very brave to continue with their work amidst dangerous times we live in!
ReplyDeleteI really can't pick a favorite! Each look has been perfect for the occasion. Even those wedges are forgivable :)
ReplyDeleteAnother hit. Great bohemian 70s vibe that so in right now. Colours suit her so well. Love how her hair's waving in the humidity.
ReplyDeleteDear friends,
ReplyDeletedo anyone know why Kate and William haven't met with president of India?
Thank you for response in advance
Marta
They did-earlier today-and had lunch with him.
DeleteThis tour has certainly been jam packed and exiting
ReplyDeleteWilliam's wearing gray khaki pants! A step out of his comfort zone and it looks great (usually he's in tan for casual or even navy blue). Like the shoes too!
ReplyDeleteThe little boy stepping on her shoe! Priceless!!! I can see why they like children. W&K value being treated "normally" it seems and kids are very good at that! :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as dresses, I like the first one this morning - the maxi.
Love that she wears old earrings!
They both seem to enjoy nature so this part of their trip (this national park and the two days in Bhutan with the hike is probably going to be enjoyable.
Thank you again, Charlotte. :)
I agree with Rebecca choosing an american designer is little odd but nevertheless the dress is beautiful and she looks comfortable wearing it. The work and thought put into her wardrobe has demanded not only few hours but a bit more and im happy to see the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI love that Kate is looking William so lovably and in my opinion Kate often looks William in a proctective way and i mean in a good way. I just got that feeling.
The tour must be hard both physically and emotionally, seeing for example the slums cant be easy and what you see can be in your thoughts for a while. I admire both of them looking so happy despite they must miss their children. They really put their duty in the first place here.
Cant wait to see the rest of the tour!
Gorgeous dress and I'm sure the silk fabric kept her cool in the heat. She looks so happy at this event!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that she has 10+ year old costume jewelry. I guess when you're wealthy you have big closets with lots of room to spare!
First things first: the tour itself. I have been quite impressed with the depth and especially the variety of events we've seen thus far. Everything from conservation to poverty, children to sports has been part of the schedule, with casual and formal functions alike. I think this short tour length suits the Cambridges really, really well. They really seem in their element: engaged, inquisitive, and respectful.
ReplyDeleteNow, on to the fashions: I echo the sentiments of many when I say that Kate has absolutely been knocking it out of the park with her sartorial choices. (The Temperley two-piece outfit she wore for the Queen's birthday party last night is one of my favorite looks on the Duchess, ever.) And I am so thrilled to see her embrace color and print in such vivid and unique ways that feel completely appropriate in the context of each engagement. We've seen Kate do glam; we've seen her do ultra-feminine; we've seen her do retro and sporty and polished modern. And now we get to see her do Bohemian! I have been waiting to see the Duchess take more risks and embrace bright colors and interesting prints and she has done so beautifully on this tour. The most exciting tour -- sartorially and perhaps overall -- since the Diamond Jubilee tour of Asia in 2012.
Side note: looking through Kate's past fashions and I've realized we've never seen her in an orange frock (red-orange and those tangerine workout pants don't count in my book!) Here's hoping she debuts the color in something fun and festive, with a nod to its part on the Indian flag.
Brava, Charlotte, as always for speedy and thorough reporting!
The Desdemona is my favorite look today, the black and white dress is my favorite of all on this tour. A really interesting mix for her, and there are no clunkers. I am really looking forward to the Bhutan visit.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Charlotte the Indefatigable. Great work!
Almost half way through the tour and Will and Kate look great! They seem to really enjoy themselves and I hope they are making fond memories. :) I love that they were so taken by the little boy. They must be missing George and Charlotte, so maybe it did their hearts good to see and chat with the little guy. So very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI really like Kate's dress and think it's appropriate for the occasion, but I am curious as to why she has not chosen to wear another Indian designer? As Jean mentioned above, I think Kate's wardrobe choices have been ideal for the tour. She and Natasha Archer make a great duo in choosing her wardrobe. Another pretty ensemble from head to toe!
Tomorrow will be such a fun engagement and one that will have great photos! Thanks for another great day on the blog Charlotte! We are all so appreciative!
I loved EVERYTHING about this whole look.

That is an impossible question to answer Charlotte, I am in love with all THREE of her outfits today! What I really like is the fact that I could wear any of them, too. I`m from a conservative family, and normally most of her evening/day/casual outfits wouldn`t work for me. But these dresses are just perfect! If you offered them to me, I would snatch them up in a heartbeat!!!:)
Another great look for Kate. I love her maxi dresses. She is just glowing, and William as well. They are both so great with children. Love the little boy standing on her shoe. Just another fantastic day.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte you are a wonder. How you are doing all this is a miracle. I just love all your posts. I will go into serious withdrawal when the tour ends.
i have loved every dress thst kate has worn on this tour except this one,i don't like the colors or pattern i think her hair should have been pulled back or up,the earings are great and her shoes were perfect for mud. i think the were sweet with that little boy espicaly for william, and i don't think kate mined at all that he stepped on her foot. what a wonderful day for them!
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else amazed that Kate has earrings from 2006? I know I don't have any that far back, although now that I am buying more quality items, I shall have them for years to come. But Kate's older earrings this trip do not look that high end (I am not including the Temple ones). She looks great and except for the poor bra choice and the Marilyn moment she has done well. I for one have definitely got some summer work wardrobe ideas from this trip so far!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the Duke and Duchess enjoyed their warm welcome. The way she's sitting with her legs over makes me think that she really feels very comfortable therefore, she should wear Maxi dresses more often even at home in the UK events. Especially in the summer time. Maxi dresses are so comfortable and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI loved this dress! I actually loved all of her choices today as well this whole tour! I wonder how long it took her and her team to find all of these dresses! They fit in so well with the beautiful colors saris.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that Kate wears the colorful prints during this tour, but I trully miss lipstick with these bright colors. Her face looks colorless in comparison to these dresses. That's a pity.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. I don't know why she's so afraid of a little lip colour. And a little nail colour, for that matter. When your makeup doesn't change at all ever, it appears as if you're just changing outfits and not really styling them. I think Kate has looked beautiful this entire trip -- way more beautiful than when she's at home -- and I would love to see her wear even the slightest bit of colour on her lips!
Deleteanon 457 i think she has on darker lip color this tour,as far as her makeup goes i don't think she is wearing alot because of the heat and humidity to prevent it from running. and i don't think she has done her own makeup this trip.
DeleteProbably my fave thing about this tour is that we haven't had a single repeat outfit yet! must be a new record ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this dress for today I think all she has worn this week .
ReplyDeleteI'm taking the first available time machine back to 1977 and I'm wearing THIS dress and a pair of platform shoes. I shall be a smash hit among all my acquaintance. But at midnight I have to be home safely in the present. Too much 1977 is unsafe for anybody.
ReplyDeleteAgain, Charlotte, thank you for your continuing level of erudite reporting/blogging on this subject. It is even more fun than a time machine, really.
Note to Kate: Do not wash the mud off your shoe. Save it and show it to George when you get home, along with pictures. He will be impressed.
ReplyDeleteThis tour has been SUCH fun. Kate seems so at ease, and so comfortable (my goodness - contrast this with how she acted/seemed in the Queen at 90 doc). Her smiles seem so genuine, and it makes sense now that we know that India was at the top of her list. She seems really thrilled to be there.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite photo of the entire tour is her sitting on the floor this morning with the kids. And honestly, I think that is my favorite look of the day, too! That dress was really simple and understated but she pulled it off. So appropriate.
I'm enjoying every minute of this!
Get out - my third favorite casual dress EVER and they're all from this trip :)
ReplyDeleteKate looked so much better in that dress than the model did. The dress suited Kate.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's one outfit I didn't like this whole trip (well, the flaps on the white dress weren't that great for me). But I think the Temperly dress is my favorite so far. I love the color and the detailing. And Yes...William is looking good all casual. I think last night his blue suit clashed with Catherine's black and white dress. But all in all, so far, all wins for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm more impressed with William for not wearing navy pants!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen William and Catherine meet the King and Queen of Bhutan, does William nod his head and Catherine curtsey?

ReplyDeleteWow Wow & Wow!:) I literally want to reach through the screen to borrow that dress:) Absolutely beautiful! I am loving this event on so many levels where do I begin? I love that they are having such unbridled fun & are clearly making wonderful memories on this special trip:) I love the interaction with the little boy:) I love him stepping on Kate's shoes & how they cracked up about it, Clearly having firsthand experience with "little men" who know their mind:) I also love the recall of "Anna" who recognized Kate's earrings!:0 I loved seeing the two pics of Kate "then" & Kate "now" wearing the earrings! How young & full cheeked she looks in the 2006 photo. It's so easy to forget how we've watched her grow up before our eyes:) I love the fabrics in this dress & I think she will bump the popularity of The Maxi Dress after this Tour! I know I've been on the fence, but now I definitely want to add a Colorful Maxi Dress & Tunic & Wedge Espadrilles into my Spring/Summer 2016 wardrobe:) Knowing how much W&K love Africa, it will be interesting seeing them learn about & experience this famous Park, with it's Natural Beauty, Wildlife & People:) Thanks again Charlotte for the Amazing Coverage you are bringing us! I'm running out of superlatives to express your level of research, curating, & educational Posts! You are Such a Gem!:)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Charlotte. This tour is going so well, and as noted above TRHs' are creating beautiful images. Well done.
ReplyDeleteSo happy with all Kate's choices so far! Such interesting bright dresses. Love the colours.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit has a gaiety about it that's so fitting for this event! The color is great, and stands out well against the red/white/golds that others are wearing. Kate looks like she's having a great time, and she looks stunningly beautiful. Which outfit today is the best? Can't say; each one is lovely, suitable for the event, and creative while still befitting HRH on an official tour representing the Queen. Bravo, Kate, and thanks, Charlotte, for your bringing this all to us!
ReplyDeleteMy computer developed a voracious appetite for my comments so I missed a day but wanted to say how much I loved the dress she wore meeting Prime Minister Modi. I think all the new clothes and vivid colours have really lit Kate up - as new clothes are apt to do. I remember that Jayne Fletcher (not sure that name is right) said you could tell Diana's mood from whether she chose bright or dark colours, and all the vivid hues seem to have brought us to the sparkling Kate of earlier tours. The warm welcome of the Indian people and the fact Kate has longed to visit has no doubt helped as well. It's been a great tour with more to come.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things that could have gone wrong with that Temperley dress, the high neckline, the very problematic for many (think Monaco) seventies revival style, the "bridesmaid" seafoam colour the funky lace, the long torso - although with a defined waist. But somehow it all worked and I just said "wow" when I saw it. It captured the perfect mood. It would not have been right with her hair down, so glad she wore it up.
Thrilled that they met with the women and girls too, such an important area, along with the station children. It is an area where William and Kate's ability to engage and relate really comes into play, so much more easily than the formality of the queen. They should truly be in their element tomorrow - an engagement, I'm sure William is looking forward to.
As for the dress at the national park, I love it, but why Anna Sui? With so many wonderful Indian designers or Anglo-Indian designers or British designers who do similar clothes, why an American for this look? I'm at a loss and can only agree with Rebecca that Kate must have fallen in love with it. It's hard for me to rave completely when there were so many more on-point choices, but that casual look really does suit her and it is such a fun and sparkling engagement with that delightful cheeky little lad, it is one more success in a list of successes.
Maybe Kate should have her people read Duchess Kate more thoroughly. There were multiple dresses featured by Indian designers I would love to own, and I'm not even visiting India. But we will wait and see what comes in a few hours.
Lovely, to see you back again, Jean.
FYI- The photographer is Jayne Fincher, she said if Diana showed up in Red she was "on." (Tho she she seemed to put on a good show most days in my view)!-Ariagurl
DeleteThis is a confusing dress. It looks like the kind of dress some people seek out for a purpose. May be some anthropologists might wear it for a certain gathering/conference. There is something wilderness about it and might fit some people’s test.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't William dress like this now and then? My goodness! I hope he will be comfortable in admitting the value of a man's appeal to society. Forget the girls, some out there might be loving how he looks. Kate is secured in her marriage, hope she encourages him for different looks, or shop for him. Life can be interesting beyond "the uniform".
ReplyDeleteJust when I have to go to bed day 3 begins. I cant imagine how exhausted you must be Charlotte. Just know we appreciate everything and how far you have come.
ReplyDeleteWas on the fence about this dress until I got a closer look at it. In the more distant photos, it looks matronly and bathrobe-y. Up close, it's stunning. Smart choice to wear practical, yet still stylish, footwear. They ARE at a national park and in a more rugged outdoor setting so a pair of Jimmy Choos would be impractical for a lot of reasons.
ReplyDeleteLove that she has gone with the recycled earrings. They're stunning, stylish and timeless. Why NOT recycle them?
The dress this morning, before the Temperley, has to be my favorite today. The whole bustline situation on that Temperley ruined it for me.
I like this dress but I like the maxi dress this morning more.
so far love the maxi dress I never dislike she dressing and I love those wedges are perfect for the mad
ReplyDeleteI have loved all of Catherine's sartorial choices for this trip...except perhaps this eye jarring number, it is a bit much, though as always she carries it off beautifully. What I love most is the genuine love and compassion that both William and Catherine show to everyone they meet...from a 93 year old fan, to a three year old sleepily standing on her feet with his muddy shoes. While Diana was undoubtedly the People's Princess...I believe that Catherine will be known forevermore as The Children's Princess. Britain is in good hands with these two. Thank you Charlotte for the hours of work and study that you have put into each blog posting, it is truly incredible!
ReplyDeleteJen...well said! I could not agree with you more!
DeleteI really like this dress. The colors are so rich.
DeleteIt fits her so perfectly.
I think that is the best description of Kate, the Children's Princess. Beautiful!
DeleteI have one more comment to add to the above. I am surprised Kate has chosen three very similar, in my opinion, dresses to wear within 48 hours. I am thrilled with the colors, with new designers, and with wearing maxi-length daytime dresses. It just seems like the Dongre, Glamourous, and Sui dresses are similar in the busy pattern, comfortable design, Nigerian sort of way. I actually like them all and they seem appropriate for the occasion. But . . .?
ReplyDeleteHere's an interesting read written by a famous Indian Columnist named Shobha De. The headline is: ear Team Kate Middleton, She's In India, Not Abu Dhabi
ReplyDeleteWhat do you guys think?

I love the dress. The color is great. But I don't like the wedges with the dress. Flats would have been better. Maybe something strappy.
ReplyDeleteWow! Love the look. Its fun, colourful, whimsical and relaxed, perfect for the occasion. Love and happiness is reflected in the DoC eyes. The pictures of her and Will with the little boy are adorable, it shows a "real" side to who they are. And I love that Kate is wearing an old pair of earrings, they must be a favourite of hers.
ReplyDeleteSo far the tour has been perfection on every level! Well done W&K and their team!!! And bravo to Charlotte :)
For me, this dress is awful. It makes Kate's arms look big and she is probably one of the most slender people photographed. If it makes her look that way, I can't imagine what it would do to the average female.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny Tammy because this is the only outfit of hers that I like, except the mint lace dress,
Deletealthough it didn't fit Kate properly.
Not a fan of this dress but she manages to pull it off. Thanks Charlotte
ReplyDeleteLove the print of this dress, plus it has pockets!
ReplyDeletenot a fan of this look but kate looks great in everything. i love her in all ways, all styles no matter what... and I'll prefer the 2nd one look for the lunch with pm.
